Best Pho in T.O.
I have to go over to Bill's Lobster on Thursday and want to have some pho while in the area. I loved Hanoi 3 Seasons but since it was ?sold/new cooks the pho really deteriorated, IMO. See Kim's recommended. and also Quin ?. Still? Who else in that block has great pho at the moment?

The Olde Ridge Barbeque
The above just opened in Harcourt (about 20 minutes from Bancroft or Haliburton). We tried their ribs last night and they were excellent. Nicely smoked, lightly sauced and very tender. The sides of corn bread, potato salad and baked beans were also delicious. For $13 we thought it good value. They also have brisket and pulled pork and when available on Fridays smoked trout.
I really hope they do well as this is something of a culinary wasteland around here. I know for sure we will be back.

??really. Not my experience. I just hated the squidgy isles. Also they would make you search through every pocket if you were 1 cent short.

I see the Fruit King that was on this corner has moved across the street (next door to the other fruit and veg store). Anyone know what is going on that corner as they seem to be demolishing the old store and the dry cleaners?
Reither's on Church
Really sad about Reithers .I really like the staff in there. Loved lots of things but especially their cabbage rolls. I do hope Pusateri's isn't next. It isn't nearly as busy as it use to be and now they are open Sundays. Hopefully not a bad sign.

I am not often in this neighbourhood but Chick-n-Deli was a real favourite. Is this the same restaurant owners, wings as good etc? I use to love this place.

I don't know if he still has them since he became more of a take-out place but I use to get shanks at Louis at Danforth and Logan. Would also 2nd the frozen New Zealand shanks.
President's Choice Montreal Smoked Meat
I got it at Maple Leaf Gardens. Yes, I know it has all these dreadful additives but I am not about to drive to Thornhill when I feel the urge for a smoked meat sandwich. 4 packs of what I thought was a good serving for $10. However, I do not have a large appetite.

Thanks for your post honeydij. I was feeling incredibly stupid about the online flyer as all I was getting were pics of the wall of cheese etc. Will try your rec. I was also told the same thing about the Christmas Insiders Report. I am in there 2-3 times a week so shall ask at Customer Service. This has become a quest !!

Do these still exist and if so how do you get them? I have looked in the store (Maple Leaf Gardens) and online with no luck. I often see great sales when I am in the store. Easy to get both No Frills and FreshCo. Also, they didn't have any President's Choice Insiders Report flyers.
SUKHO THAI - what's going on?
called in our order at 5 pm. Told it would be here at 6:45, arrived at 6:10. Pad Thai, beef curry, and spring rolls. Ok, but not memorable. Also lukewarm at best.
F'Amelia - new pizza joint in Cabbagetown
We were also there on the night that the a bove posters were. Service was fine but FAST. Not terribly relaxing for a night out. Our wine had barely been set down when we received our mains and bread came somewhere in the middle. I had gnocchi which I found somewhat gummy and my partner had the pizza. Agree good, but not what I consider amazing. The lemon tart for dessert was meh at best, crust so tough couldn't cut through it. I live within walking distance but can't see hurrying back.

I was there a couple of years ago and the food was excellent. I had the liver and it was probably the best I have ever had outside my own kitchen.

Thanks. I live at Sherbourne and Wellesley so quite close. Perhaps I'll call the order in around 5 and hopefully it will be ready by 6:30ish. Good tip on calling to see if it's almost ready.

Turkey Dinner?
A friend told me he had a great T-giving turkey dinner at a restaurant at Broadview and Danforth. Not sure if it is a regular menu item. North of Danforth, east side of the street just past the Broadview subway station.
