Vegetarian Entree to Accompany Latkes?

I saw this idea posted somewhere and wanted to do something similar...

"I'm doing all "bars" (of the non-alcoholic sort!)

A soup bar, with a few soups and some bowls of croutons, different shaved cheeses, toppings like terra stix and heavy cream that ppl can mix in.

A salad bar with lettuce, lots of diff chopped up veggies, lots of dif toppings like croutons, crushed bissli, sunflower seeds etc and dressings

A sundae bar again, with tons of toppings like chocolate sauce, sprinkles, maraschino cherries etc

and a yogurt bar with granola, frozen fruit, etc
I'm also serving some pasta dishes on a buffet"

Vegetarian Entree to Accompany Latkes?

Why not a 4-cheese lasagne? That has plenty of protein from the dairy.. Other good ideas are making the buffalo wings/ garden chicken tenders and doing a buffalo ranch plate; a yummy cauliflower cheese; a nice big mushroom quiche (although i am more partial to broccoli and almond); buy the garden chicken pieces (i think called chick'n scallopini) and make a lemon chicken type dish; a classic mac and cheese; a baked ziti recalling cauliflower for baked ziti; i have a vegetarian scotch eggs recipe on here (made w nuts)- it is really yummy; i make my own veggie meat balls over rice from a nut mixture (recipe also on here).. let me know if you need other ideas.

Shortage of dairy Chanukah coins?

I noticed this too!! Went into Rockland Kosher today and every box was pareve chocolate. Yuck. I believe the TJ ones are dairy. (I usually only like the Israeli dairy ones but I hate Carmit chocolate and that is unfortunately all I have seen.)

Breakfast in Mamilla, Jerusalem

I don't know about breakfast but I love the Cafe Greg mushroom burger- a bit different from the standard fare and very good. Sorry cannot help more with actual breakfast though...

I heard that both Sababa Grill and Royal Persian grill are amazing- is this accurate? I am vegan (as i often repeat) so I want falafel, hubby and kids want some kind of chicken dish and really amazing fries. It is my 6 year old sons bday, so I need something kiddy-friendly (looking specifically at those two places- we want somewhere we have not been to).

Also, on a totally unrelated note- where can I find the best doughtnuts? I remember Mocha Bleu had good ones but I needed to re-mortgage my house to buy 6 of them.. anywhere else? Does Royal Persian still bring in from Monsey?

Pesach Orlando rental

We have a ton of food restrictions as well as being vegetarian/vegan. I emailed a "different pesach program" asking if we could join their shul but only purchase select items through them and received a rather rude response. I am wondering if anyone here knows of gated/ villa townhouse communities with minyanim for pesach but where I can provide my own food? Thanks!

What Kind of Shabbat Meal Host/ess Gifts Do You Like to Receive?

I love something from Oh Nuts. We usually do Israeli style dessert- cookie/ cake platter, sunflower seeds, pistachios, nuts, candy so a platter is really appreciated!

Veggie Bisto- Teaneck

Anyone been yet? Reviews? It seems pretty pricey. Also, I think they had made an error when assessing their salad pricing- why would I pay $7.95 for a salad with 5 toppings when I can get a salad for the same price at EJ's or Sammys w unlimited toppings? Seems odd.

I LOVE noi due, however, last time I went they did not take reservations (has this changed??) and i found myself self waiting out side for 90 minutes. Of course, if there was somewhere else to go we would have gone, but they clearly have a monopoly in the area. I could not chance being outside for 90 minutes again...
I am not a fan of My Most Favorite at all...

Phony chicken is great for those of us who need to eat a lot of protein and are veggie/ vegan.. or dairy free vegetarian in my case ;)

Thanks so much everyone- really great suggestions and I will certainly be incorporating some of them (and bookmarking this page so i can return to the ideas)...

Dairy Friday night...

My two brothers (both vegetarians like me!) are coming for Shabbat this week.. I want to have a lot of choices, really nice food and just some cool things.. The youngest brother eats like a 3 yr old- think mac n cheese, plain pasta, veggie burgers, potatoes. The other ones eats everything...
So far, I am making cheese borekas with Malawach dough, roast potatoes, possibly mac n cheese/ cauliflower cheese. Want to do more fun things though... Any ideas? Will definitely have a salad as well.. maybe some kind of ranch plate with veggie chicken nuggets? Some really nice fun desserts as well? DH and I usually eat exceptionally healthy food and I just don't see my brothers being into the kind of stuff I eat ;)

Deli King of Linden, ( or someplace near Springfield) NJ

DeliKing is not recommended. NJ one stop is your best bet for meat platters- altho if you are expecting amazing food, you may be sorely disappointed. Not a ton to choose from in Elizabeth.

Vegetable dishes for sukkot and beyond

Yup. I have the best pareve mushroom quiche recipe.. ever. I made it over the recent holidays and subbed mushrooms for broccoli (and topped with trader joes toasted sliced almonds)- huge, huge hit:

2 medium onions
1 10oz box mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 tbsp oil for sauteeing
1/2 cup soy milk
3 eggs
1 tbsp. flour
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 deep dish pie crust

Pre-heat oven to 400°F... in reality, i just let the oven go with whatever else i am making, between 350-420 and it comes out fine everytime ;)

Sauté the onions and mushrooms in the oil until yummy and brown (i do these separately in batches to really get the mushrooms browned and not steamed), then put in the pie crust. Beat together eggs, soy milk, salt, pepper and flour.. Pour into pie shells, bake for 40 minutes or so until top is golden brown.

Tapas style birthday meal..

Is my husbands birthday tomorrow and since we have two little kids and both did weight loss surgery, it does not pay for us to go out to eat.
With that in mind, I would like to make a really nice meal for him with lots of options.
I thought about teriyaki mushrooms, a gardein mini boreka style thing, a baked egg roll and maybe roast sweet potatoes but it's not flowing for me. I am not doing courses and soup is out cause of the surgery (once u eat soup no room for anything else).
Looking for really nice, unique suggestions of things that can be made in small quantities that will show I put a lot of thought into the meal.. He's not fussy at all and generally goes for Asian style food but he'll eat anything (except Indian food- he's not a fan, also doesn't like briny foods).. Can have dairy and eggs in it..

Thanks everyone!
