Last Meal in LA? Leaving after 20 Years
Money is not an issue, however, I don't believe in any correlation between cost & quality (clothing is excluded from this rule).
I've eaten at a number of outstanding sushi places here that are far better than Urasawa & far less expensive.
It's the quality of the ingredients that really matter!
So, just for reference, I'm ending one of my days here this week @ Pie N Burger.
Last Meal in LA? Leaving after 20 Years
I like Langer's as well, but Chicago has so many great delis...Kaufman's, Max & Benny's, etc.
Last Meal in LA? Leaving after 20 Years
I love LA, but with two little ones now, schools are dismal. I will check Roy's off my list, funny, I don't think I've ever even eaten at a Roy's!
Last Meal in LA? Leaving after 20 Years
Leaving LA for Chicago after 20 outstanding years, just curious where others might choose to dine if faced with the same scenario? I only have one week left!
Food for plane on route from midtown to LAX
I'm not really sure what time you are en route to LAX, but I would highly recommend Cabbage Patch in Playa Vista. I think they close @ 4PM, might be too early, but there is no indication of time mentioned by the OP.
Grilled Cheese Month at Clementine
Glorious!
Tunalluvion <<< not so sure about this???
2012 Coffee List - Since any other list is Outdated
I have tried several over many years & always find love for Groundwork Venice on Rose.
I like a plain old cup of drip coffee & many of their roasts work perfectly for me.
Down Industrial St. from Church & State, there is a sign with a Monkey on it. Bar? Restaurant?
Just an FYI, I think you might enjoy coffee at Handsome vs. DD. Even though DD serves delicious Intelligentsia, they had some really bad pours the 4 or 5 times I ordered. My choices ran the spectrum from drip to latte to iced to cappuccino.
Again, sandwiches are good.
Little Bear, not yet, I think the food menu looks as good as the beer. menu. Any thoughts on Pizzanista?

Spotty service, fantastic sandwiches.
rec's near LMU , Playa del Rey
I love Cabbage Patch, delicious.

Very "LA" restaurants with outdoor seating to take visitors?
In & Out Burger in Westchester.
Get it to go,they have a back patio in back, next to the parking lot with the most unbelievable views of incoming LAX aircraft. I've lived here my whole life & I still get excited when I've made plans to be over there for an afternoon.
Trendy? Check
Sense of LA? Check
Patio & Outdoor Seating? Check
Moderate? Check
Second choice would be Wurstküche downtown. I love the views of the skyline at night from their patio, for some reason it's a very "LA" place. Trendy too, so get there on the early side!
Stella Rosa pizza on Main St in santa monica
I know, I really couldn't wait to try this place.
We just tried The Luggage Room in Pasadena, surprised I liked their pizza far better than SR, much better salads as well.
Have you been? If so, would love to hear your thoughts!
Stella Rosa pizza on Main St in santa monica
Tried two pizzas here last week, nothing special or remarkable at all.
Tasted a lot like the tasteless pizza at Sammy's.
Sotto's is far better.
Outstanding dessert, butterscotch & sea salt something? Fantastic!
1st Blind Date - Drinks - Valet Parking - BH/Weho
Sotto
Dark, candles, good wine & mixed drinks, great food, valet parking.
Can be loud, but, if the dates going well, you can use the excuse to lean closer?
Why do you stop going to restaurants? Let's start with UMAMI Burger... [Moved from Los Angeles board]
Indifferent service is probably tops, but, I usually give up when I can't get a glass of water refilled for an entire meal, drives me crazy (a component of indifferent service).
Actually, my wife & I took our small kids to the new Daily Dose downtown. We sat outside & there were, maybe, 6 people smoking, which caused horrible smoke drafts blowing right on us.
Guess what? We packed our food to go & won't be back!
Baby-friendly breakfast spot in Culver City or Beverly Hills
I 2nd Clementine, perfect spot for all.
Best CCC in L.A.? That's chocolate chip cookies to those of you whose teenagers don't text them abbreviations all the time ...
Clementine
Coffee Tomo - new on Sawtelle
I love coffee, so I checked this place out on Sunday. It was about 4PM, quiet holiday weekend, I was only 2nd in line. One person working, ordered an iced latte & it took, no exaggeration, over 20 minutes! The guy taking the orders was just in complete disarray, absolute confusion.
He actually seemed a little confused on my order of an iced latte, sort of dazed & unable to process my request...
I wanted to ask for my money back just so I could head out, but I was scared that might just shut the place down.
Coffee was ok, not memorable, but I'm sticking with Groundwork, top quality & service at the Venice location.
Tortillas
I see a Robert Thorton referenced Northgate, highly recommended. I live close to LAX & the one near me, no matter what time I shop there, is putting out fresh & hot homemade tortillas. I love the King Size corn, they are fantastic. I can't remember the exact price, but you get a bundle of 'em for @ $3.00. Fantastic...
Sushi Near Cedars?
My wife is having our second baby in 2 weeks @ Cedar's. She's dying for sushi, thought about surprising her once the baby is born with lunch. Any good places close to the hospital?
Thanks!
O Sotto mio!
First visit tonight on Father's Day, loved it, can't wait to go back & branch out a bit.
Margarita Pizza = outstanding
Pork Meatballs = outstanding
Homemade bread w/Olive Oil & burrata = outstanding
Blistered Little Gems = Tasty, but not memorable
Only point I didn't like, they only had one beer to offer!
Waiter mentioned they are having a hard time "importing Italian beers".
I like the idea of staying true to the Italian craft, but what about something besides a Peroni?
Maybe even a local beer to round out a bit...
Matiz Gallego Sardines in Olive Oil
All good suggestions, thanks. I found out the Whole Foods near my house (El Segundo) doesn't carry them. I was avoiding online sales because the shipping is so high, but I will keep my eyes out for sale.
Bay Cities only carries Matiz brand rice, no sardines.
I will keep looking!
Matiz Gallego Sardines in Olive Oil
No, only because I don't know what this place is?
Matiz Gallego Sardines in Olive Oil
Does anyone know a store in LA that might sell these?
Brunch near Downtown L.A.
Bottega Louie could work....might have to be in separate, smaller groups.

Good Mexican near LAX
Try Beach Mex in El Segundo.
Can't be more than $20 to the restaurant?

What are the Best Craft Beer bars in the LA area
I have to rec Wurstküche, really great beers. When I first read about the concept, I didn't think it would appeal to me. Once I tried it, I was hooked! Tasty beers, excellent fries, nice selection of sausages & the awesome ice cream cookie dessert from CoolHaus.
I have to also rec Westside Tavern. I had my first Angel City beer on tap there, it was just perfect. I'm embarrassed I haven't discovered Angel City soon, but I have Westside Tavern to thank. Excellent food here also!
Lunch Spot (casual) from LAX to the Getty?
We live near LAX & always plan Clementine on the way to the Getty. Exit Santa Monica Blvd, head east about a mile & a half, u-turn @ Ave of the Stars, then second right (Ensley).
