Advice on Santa Fe: Cafe Pasqual, Geronimo, The Compound, etc
The Shed is mediocre at best -- unless you think that "Boil chicken, pour adobo sauce on top, serve" is a recipe. If you appreciate Mexican or New Mexican food, you'll wonder why you waited an hour at this glorified Taco Bell.
Best Boston Area Mexican
Let a thousand flowers bloom...but most of the places touted here are great IF you like Mexican food from El Salvador or Los Angeles. If you want Tex-Mex that will bring you back to Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio then you have one choice and that's Taqueria Mexicana (and the new restaurant Cantina Mexicana) in Somerville. The tamales are to die for, the fresh salsa has real kick (not the Pace ketchup you get in most places in Boston), and the pork tacos will make you beg for the marinade recipe. The restaurant has additional (higher end) fare (try the steak with grilled avocado) and killer jalapeno margaritas. I've tried almost every place mentioned on this board and find most of them pretty mediocre in my view.
