Gusto is Terrible. Raoul's Is great for dining alone. Also Tavern on Jane has Great food and a friendly atmosphere. Republic in Union Square treats solo diners well also.
Brunch near Bleecker to take the parents?
I would add Quantum Leap on Thompson. A little crunchy but good!
Oak Bar at The Plaza... Is it open or closed?
Does anyone know? Just curious. Would love to check it out. I cannot find any information about this or contact information. Thank you.
Best Wine Bar
Thank You!
Casellula is fun and the wine list is alright. Good cheese selection's though
Il Buco vs. Peasant
And I disagree Wholeheartedly with vvvindallo. Peasant is Good, Il Buco is Great. The service at Peasant is uneven and not professional as they are at Il Buco.
The food at Peasant is very good but nothing close in caliber to Il Buco's.
The Wine list at Il Buco is Reknowned. Peasant's is of The same ilk as most city Italian that aims for the Young and well heeled.
I eat at both and enjoy my times at both, but they are not in the same league.
Il Buco vs. Peasant
dkstar have to disagree with you on the food. Peasant is good, but Il Buco is great1 I think Peasant counts more on the buzz and the scene
Best Wine Bar
What is the name of the wine bar in The LES that specializes in French Wine? Sorry not trying to highjack this thread.
Il Buco - very disappointing, bad service experience
I am not a regular there and I find The service friendly and attentive. It is one of my favorite places to eat. The food and wine list I find great for my palate. The Hertitage Pork Dish I find especially tasty! The waitress with the partial sleeve tatoo does show customers attitude as I have seen her do to others, but the rest of the waitstaff are great!
I am sorry it did not work out for you.
Non Oaky Californa Cabernet's
I am trying to like Californa wines outside of Zinfindel's but have been having no luck.
The Cab's I have had invaribly taste oaky. Add to that the price points are high compared to French Wines of the same caliber, I am starting to get discouraged. Any place I should start?
I am thinking in the 20 and under price range.
Thank you.
Price fixe Lunch Tour Any Suggestion's?
Next Thursday is my first Price Fixe lunch adventure and I am looking forward to it!
BBQ... Brooklyn or Manhattan
Dinosaur so far is the best iI have had in Manhattan although I have yet to try rub.
What in Brooklyn compares?
I hear mixed reviews of "The Fat Pig". That heat lamp thing sounds just so wrong. I have eaten all through the south and none of the roadside joints I been to ever did that!
I am more a pork shoulder guy then a brisket or rib man by the way and I am into the meat more then the sauce.
What to eat what to see in Altoona Pa.
Went to horseshoe curve and saw a train go by! Wound up having BBQ that was pretty good about a haf hour out of Altoona. Pretty town!
Price fixe Lunch Tour Any Suggestion's?
I have odd day's off from slaving for the man and figure this is as good as way as any totry different resturant's that I normally would not eat at.
Please name some of your favourite places and why.
I will report from week to week.
Egg Custard Ice Cream in Chinatown!!
Going to try it tonight! Egg custard Boa's are my favorite.
When in doubt......after a long day....favorite local restaurants you can rely on
+1 Tavern on Jane.
What happened to Collins Bar?!?
I am going to miss it. I had some good times there! It was a great jukebox.
il Buco Annual Pig Roast
It was so much better this year! I had a blast. The food was one plate that contained everything as opposed to last years either/or. How was the line when you wen? I was glad I got there early as the line went down to Bowery! The wine was good too!

Then Chinatown and the "Family Style" Italian will work! In Chinatown try The NEw Big Wang on One Elizabeth. The 1/2 Crispy chicken with garlic chicken dish and a plate of greens works for me! On West 72nd Street between Columbus and CPW on the South side of the Street is a Family Style Italian that is not bad and cheaper then Carmine's. Flor de Mayo on Broadway and 101st is Good! The chicken there is much better then Chirpin Chicken and the beans are great! Also check the workplace Porto Rican luncheon/dinner places. The food is usually good, plentiful and reasonable. I go to one on 1st Avenue and 91st. Street but most areas have one or two. Hell's Kitchen is loaded with them.
Tavern on Jane has great food and really good burgers. The Corner Bistro can be uneven but when the burger's are good they are good! The Stoned Crow on Washington Place and 6th Ave has good burger's also.
I train hard and have to eat big to keep my weight up so I understand your man's dilemma! Have fun and I hope this help's!

Plataforma inTribeca has a half price deal on Sunday's before 4. all my Brazilian clients swear by it!
Where to buy Hertitage Farms quality Pork?
Outside of Flying Pig Farms Pork at the Farmer's Market in Union Square where can I buy Free range Pork in Manhattan?
il Buco Annual Pig Roast
It is good! The portions are small though and the lines are long.
Wo Hop -- worst meal of my life
I used to be a regular there. The American Classics were good and the place was fun. The last 2 times though the food was inedible. I used to be a staunch defender of the joint. Never again will I eat there. sorry it stunk.
Bachelor Party Restaurant Recos?
It is hit or miss. I have had to wade through a 5 deep bar there to get a drink and i have been there when it was dead. Last Saturday though the whole city was dead.
