Kosher in Fiji?
It was a very nice Island but there is zero form of Judaism there and zero food. We brought everything and found a few items in the supermarket which had hechshers. I had contacted the chabad rabbi in Sydney and he told me there was nothing. Be careful bringing meat in though as they scan for agriculture products upon arrival.
brachs special
But the food isn't that good in Traditions, so is it really worth it?
Where to find cannolis?
One more vote for Sapienza. It is about a mile past Belmont.
New Kosher Restaurants on Main Street (Kew Garden Hills)
I stopped by a few days ago by the Thai place and had the Pad Thai, it was pretty decent and had nice spice to it. The prices were reasonable with an average size menu. It will mostly be takeout as there are only 3 tables inside.
Had sandwich bar when they first opened and it was decent as well. About 8 diff't schnitzel sandwiches and a few deli sandwiches that they will put in a Panini press for you. Again, decent prices, mostly takeout since they only have a bar with a few stools.
Nice to see something diff't other than Pizza or your typical Milchig place.
Twist and Roll Cafe at Brach's
Where in the store is the counter? they have been advertising this for the longest time at the main street location.
Twist and Roll Cafe at Brach's
Where in the store was it? The twist and roll on Main Street had veen advertising a space in Brachs for as long as they have been open, but they never knew when they would go through with it.
Queens, NY advice needed
Price wise, the 5 Towns may be a stretch. Taxi each way will cost about 20-25 dollars (Don't do a Yellow cab as they are supposed to charge double to enter Nassau). If you do happen to end up there, make sure they drop you by Supersol or Gourmet Glatt and make your way from there. Walking by starting out from these 2 places will put you in the middle of what you are looking for (Food shoppin, Kosher Food, Judaica).
Queens will be the cheaper option since you are using mass transit and everything on Main street is walkable.
Queens, NY advice needed
JFK in the summer is hell so those 2-4 hours probably won't be that long. But if for some reason you do get the 4 hours, your best bet would be to go to Main Street in Queens. Take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station and get on the Q44L. Get off at Main Street and 73 Ave. and you will have everything you are looking for. But again, I don't think you will have enough time.
Dougies Cedarhurst Closed
Can you be under the Vaad of Queens only? or do you have to be under both?
Dougies Cedarhurst Closed
oh Just curious.....dont want this to turn into another Grill point situation. Whenever places move or open up, nothing ever seems to go smoothly.
Mike's Bistro Tasting menu
I am glad that you had a nice experience but it upsets me that I went 5 months ago and we had the exact same menu except for the corn chowder.
Kosher food Anchorage and Vancouver
They really have not served meals, let alone kosher meals on domestic flights for years unless you were flying first class or continental. Most airlines will throw some peanuts at you and some have a BOB (Buy on Board) option. Unfortunately, the only kosher option is usually some cookies or M & M's.
New kosher supermarket coming to the 5 towns
The more off the beaten path it is, will people go?
This may put the final nail into supersol's coffin.
Los Angeles -- Prime Grill & Mamash close
Wow.....That would be a quick exit for mamash if its true.
Has Anyone Been to SOLO for the Top Chef?
Thanks for the report, I am just wondering from the other people who reviewed if they had been there before and experienced it the same way in regards to service or was this the first time there?

food for traveling
The meals average about 12-14 bucks if I recall. It was a main and 2 sides. I agree with GilaB as it depends on where you are travelling to. In Fiji, we begged and were able to keep some of the food but not others, New Zealand let us keep all, and Australia took the rest away. Most places that X-ray your bag(mostly south pacific) to check for food will usually take it away from you. The carrieban is usually a safe bet. Mexico is hit or miss as they use the Green light/ red light system. As long as you get a green you will be keeping your food.
When travelling to some of these places I would read up and contact the agriculture dpeartments beforehand.
Passover Hotel Recommendations
I am just curious about the nevele. Has Greenwald been there for all those 10 years or were there other caterers?
kosher subway in queens.
I have heard approx. 3 weeks before pesach. Lets see if its true.
L.A. - Update, Please!
I have to agree with Torchef across the board. I commented on Mamash already but we also ate at Tierra Sur. Such rich flavors and well worth the drive.
The Fish Grill was a fine place as well. Great Tasting and cheap. Hard to find some good Fish and Chips in NY but The Fish Grill nailed it.
L.A. - Update, Please!
Just to add a new place to the list, I strongly reccomend Mamash. asian fusion opened for about 6 weeks or so. I compare it to a Sushi Metsuyan, but 10 times better. I would suggest trying any of the sushi rolls.
Need Reasonable Kosher Catering Hall on LI
I saw that in the paper a few weeks back where it was $50 all inclusive...what are they serving for that price?? Are they even making money on that?
Kosher Pizza @ Woodmere Bowling
I don't believe it is Pizza Pious related. I heard it is a man from cedarhurst who is opening in the alley and trying to place the vending machines in as many locations as possible.
Kosher gift baskets - any good ones?
