UWS Dinner Delivery (66th and Columbus), need rec's to add to our rotation

I'm a fan of Chirpin Chicken, fast, fresh, and cheap. Fusha is very good for sushi delivery, much better than Haru..had it tonight as a matter of fact. Gari delivers, expensive and doesn't travel well compared to eating there. Emerald Inn has a great burger and Guinness....don't think they deliver but it's a 3 block walk. Pinch is a good, pizza on UWS is pretty bad otherwise. Lennys is good for sandwiches, salads. I think the neighboorhood gets a bum rap overall. There is no shortage of quality food other than Chinese and pizza.

Lebanese/Middle Eastern UWS?

Cimui, Thanks for the update. I will try it sometime this week. I crave the famous cart on 53rd and 6th but never have the time to go there and wait. Thanks again.

Lebanese/Middle Eastern UWS?

Cimui,

Do you know what hours the truck is there? I am a big fan of the lamb and rice at 53rd and 6th but it's an ordeal to get there and then wait half an hour. If anyone else has tried this truck please let me know your thoughts. Thanks..

Lennys charging $1 delivery fee

Brilliant response, for that matter they should charge a $2 fee as in a difficult environment what's the difference beteween $9.50 and $11.50

You are completely missing the point, NYC restaurants/delis don't charge a delivery fee. That's why I posted in the first place, not to debate whether $1 changes the value proposition. The fact that Lennys is starting this will most likely hurt the delivery person as many people will tip less which keeps the total price the same. In thinking about it further, for Lennys it makes sense...if they deliver 1,000 orders per day from all locations...which is probably light.they will ean $365,000 more in 2009.

Lennys charging $1 delivery fee

One more thing...they could easily raise prices? I love Lennys but they are not inexpensive to begin with....good food, the prices are fair but I order a salad with 5 ingredients for $10.50 plus tax and delivery almost every day...this is not affordable for many people

Lennys charging $1 delivery fee

Cpalms, there is no bigger fan of Lennys than me, the food is good, delivery excellent and I will continue to order from them based on that. I am however interested in hearing opinions on this and finding out if others charge a delivery fee for standard orders in the normal delivery area.

Lennys charging $1 delivery fee

It's true....at least the location at 43rd and 9th beginning January 1. They are attaching a note to all deliveries stating that due to high insurance costs they are forced to add a $1 delivery fee to all orders. As someone who orders in every day in Manhattan I find this shocking. I wonder how this will effect their delivery business as some people out of principle will not pay a delivery fee. Are there other restaurants/delis out there that already do this? What are the Chwhounds opinions?

which nobu is best?

The food is not sub-par for the price, it's still one of my favorite places. I would go to the original Tribeca location as 57 is more of a place to be seen. Here are 3 things you should order.

1-Sashimi Salad-lightly seared tuna with greens with an amazing dressing...I would order extra dressing on the side.
2-yellowtail jalapeno sashimi
3-creamy spicy crab

the fluke with miso chips and I almost forgot the lobster or crab tacos...very tasty.

Theatre-District Sushi equivalent to Gari or Seki?

Have you tried Sushi of Gari on Columbus and 78th? Sushi Zen on 44th between 6th and Broadway is pretty good.

Strip House Needs A Good Spanking

I've been going there since it opened and never had a bad meal or experience. The wait staff is first rate, the food blows away the other top steak houses in the city. Everyone I have been there with has loved it.

Le Bilboquet

Went for dinner tonight and loved it. Been there a few times and yes it's small and crowded but the food is really great. The cajun chicken with fries is one of my favorite dishes in the city. You have to know going in that the service is going to be spotty, although my wife and I ended up chatting with the head waiter which made our experience easy and fun. I can see why the people on this board would likely bash this place, but the thinly sliced cajun chicken is top notch and the place is lively and fun......doesn't have to be quiet to be good.

Emerald Inn on UWS

My favorite place on the UWS to have a burger is the Emerald Inn on Columbus and 70th. It's an old school Irish bar that serves good food but the burger is really really good. For those of you that haven't tried it, try it. For those of you that have....thoughts, opinions?

new Cajun or Creole restaurant in Greenport/Southold??

Went there a few weeks ago and it was subpar. The food tasted frozen not freshly made, the service was horrible, nice but painfully slow, it appeared like they had no idea how to run a restaurant. IMHO, this place will never make it. Curious to know what other peoples thoughts are.

La Caridad on 78th and Broadway Gone?

I generally eat the same basic things, pepper steak with yellow rice and black beans, plantains...I liked it before they renovated.

Saigon Grill actually makes the exact same soup, not as spicy but really good. My wife and I are pretty excited heading into the colder weather months.

Il Mulino - tips for reservations?

Sorry that no one provided you with the ANSWER to your post. I wish I could help but in the past I have always been able to get through without too much difficulty. It's worth trying, the food is good, it's an experience worth doing once....not nearly as bad as the previous posts IMHO.
