Restaurant Help-Visit to Palm Springs Area

Jackalope Ranch just opened up this month. It is a $36,000,000 facility located on Hwy 111 in Indio. About 20 minutes from Palm Desert. Operated by the Kaiser Group and has a very good initial menu with lots of bbq items as well as some upscale dishes. Food was very good on our initial visit. The place is really something to see, both inside and out. Worth a trip for sure. I called today for another reservation and was told they were sold out all week until 8pm. She said to make reservations a week in advance. She also told me just to come by for happy hour from 3-6. 1/2 price appetizers in the bar which is huge and very lively...
Have fun.

Palm Springs

1. La Spiga

2. Johannes

3. Cork Tree

4. Mama Gina's (no comparison to La Spiga)

Top dining in vicinity of Indian Wells, Ca.

Castelli's is still good. La Spiga in PD is MUCH better. Cuistot gets more negative remarks from my friends than positive. I don't go there after a very bad first try. I would recommend FIRECLIFF on El Paseo in PD and The Cork Tree at Country Club and Cook.

Best Dessert Palm Springs

Manhattan in the Desert has an in house bakery with great desserts all on display in a counter in the lobby.

ToP 5 Favorite in Palm Springs Area for Lunch or dinner

I meant Armando's, not Eduardo's on El Paseo. Sorry about that...

ToP 5 Favorite in Palm Springs Area for Lunch or dinner

Manhattan in the Desert for Pastrami, Corned Beef and great Desserts.
Eduardo's on El Paseo. Sit outside and try homemade Tamales, Fajaitas, and Fish Taco's.
Firecliff on El Paseo. Great Seafood Risotto, Colorado Lamb, and Fish specials. Don't miss the Bread Pudding.
Thai Smile for Deviled Scallops and Yellow Curry.
Wally's Desert Turtle for Sea Bass and Dover Sole.
Have fun!

Wedding in Palm Springs? [moved from LA board]

MONTEREY COUNTRY CLUB IN PALM DESERT is a Private Country Club that books weddings for non members. It will fill all your described criteria. We have lived here for 5 years and seems like they have weddings on most Saturdays. You can look at www.montereycc.com

Palm Desert/Indian Wells recs needed

If you mean FIRECLIFF, no you haven't made a mistake. Crabcakes, Seafood Risotto, Rack of Lamb, Filet Mignon, Bread Pudding....all very, very good.

Vietnamese in the Palm Springs, Palm Desert, ect.?

There is a brand new place called Le Basil that is under construction. It is located on Hwy 111 in Palm Desert next to Von's and behind the Washington Mutual Bank. Looks like it will be opened soon.

Palm Springs, Palm Desert, etc...reccs?

Firecliff in Palm Desert is our favorite restaurant in the Desert. Wally's is also high on our list. Manhattan in the Desert for Deli food. We like Armando's Mexican on El Paseo. Sit outside and enjoy the sights. Omri & Boni also mentioned above has been closed for months.

FIRECLIFF IN PALM DESERT

My wife and I had another amazing dinner at Firecliff last night. She had the mixed green salad with pecans and cranberries and I had their version of the wedge which included sugar snap peas and walnuts and a homemade Maytag Blue Cheese dressing which was perfect! My wife then had the shrimp and scallop chinoise with rice and stir fried veggies while I had a risotto with rock shrimp, red pepper, and white corn. The best I have ever had! Dessert was their bread pudding and a lemon tart. With 2 drinks, the bill was $100. This is becoming our favorite restaurant in the Desert.

What' s great in Palm Springs?

J.D. was obviously not at Firecliff last Friday nite with us. The early crown there were mostly tables going to the Tennis Tournament that night... I honestly don't remember any "seniors" there at all. It's also nonsense to say Manhattan in the Desert is for "really seniors". It's a Deli! All ages, all the time.

What' s great in Palm Springs?

Manhattan in the Desert for great Deli Food....inexpensive

My wife and I had the finest meal we have had in the past 5 years of living here at Firecliff on El Paseo in Palm Desert last Friday night.....splurge, but not outrageous.

Palm Springs

I think getting quality servers and any help in general is a HUGE problem for restaurants and other service related businesses in the Coachella Valley. They just don't have the large pool to draw from like LA/Orange County.

Palm Springs

Manhattan in the Desert on Hwy 111 is open for BLD and has a large menu, good prices and big portions. Great Deli food with an amazing bakery on premises that has wonderful pastries for desert.

French Onion Soup

FLEMMINGS (MULTIPLE LOCATIONS)
MORTON'S (LUNCH ONLY)
RIVERIA AT THE FIRESIDE (WESTMINSTER)

Had some 2 wks ago at Mastro's in Scottsdale that was so bad I sent it back.

SCOTTSDALE LAST WEEKEND

I was a guest. It was a members-only club. We were all amazed at how good it was. I had Osso Buco and it came with a Gremolata, which is the traditional presentation and seldom served anywhere. It was fabulous. It was preceded by a salad with 2 kinds of beets, a very creamy gorgonzola, walnuts and a balsamic vinagrette...excellent. Some of the other dishes at the table were a Veal Chop, a homemade Lasagna, and a Sea Bass...all very well presented. Service was perfect. Our host, who was the brother of the member said it was sign only, no credit cards, but I saw one on another table as we left. I live in Palm Desert in a Country Club with a private restaurant, but in reality, anyone can call and make a reservation and pay by credit card. It's worth a call to Constantino's to see if you can get in.

SCOTTSDALE LAST WEEKEND

Went to Barret-Jackson last w/e with 3 buddies. We ate at 3 highly recommended restaurants and had an infomal vote at the end for the best we experienced. The result was everyone picked the same order:
1. Flemmings
2. Constantino's (Desert Mountain)
3. Mastro's
All 3 were very good, with no problems at all!

The result was a surprise because everybody expected before the w/e that the results would be exactly the opposite.

Help! Need a place to impress visiting New York friend in 2 hours!!

You might get in to THE GRILL ON THE ALLEY in Beverly Hills!

Palm Springs Restaurants

Andrew's ($$-$$$) is in old town LQ. California cuisine. Best hamburger in the Desert served with homemade ketchup. Nice patio dining spot.
Desert Sage ($$$$) has reopened with a new chef. Aaron Barnett came from Gary Danko's in SF. Had wild salmon there the other night that was wonderful.

Dining Wildernesses 2 - Banning and Beaumont [moved from L.A. board]

Since I commute weekly from Palm Desert to OC, I sometimes stop at Johnny Russo's Italian Kitchen in Banning. Edible is a good word. Some homemade bread/pizza crust and good service. Just don't expect too much. Always seems popular with the locals. We have not found anything else in that area worth a second visit.

the Farmhouse restaurant in Banning [moved from L.A. board]

Pretty standard Coffee Shop food. Think Truck Stop with Curtains. We went once. Enough said.

Solo dining in La Quinta, CA

Andrew's Bar and Grill in LaQuinta is a very good choice. More of a restaurant than a "bar". Sit inside or outside. Very good traditional american fare including homemade ketchup which we love.
You will be very comfortable as a "solo diner" there. Enjoy.

Palm Desert Area

go to Tripadvisor.com and enter Palm Springs Restaurants. There you will find a long (ranked by diners) list, with a of visitor reviews.

Lakeview at JW Marriott in Palm Desert: Good or Bad???

The food is ok to good. The service is inconsistent, but yo will find this everywhere you go in the valley. It is defintiely "pricey". IMO, stay out of the Resort restaurants unless $$$$ is no object. Lots of other choices here. Go to Tripadvisor.com and enter palm desert restaurants...

Asian Chow in and Around Palm Desert

THAI SMILE in Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, or PS.

Palm Springs restaurants

Jillian's on El Paseo in PD will not dissappoint you. Blend in La Quinta is new and very good. La Spiga for Italian in PD. For Deli food, Manhattan in the Desert is excellent.(NY Style Deli). We still love Wally's Desert Turtle. Haven't been there yet but Desert Sage in La Quinta has a new chef and we've heard good things about it. You are right about most of the "big names" here. We avoid most of them when we can. While we have some very good places in the Desert, just don't expect the sophistication of a NY, SF, or Philadelphia. It's not here! Speaking of names, we now have a Bing Crosby's Restaurant across the street from Wally's. Just opened. Enjoy.
