I what to buy a cappuccino machine

Cool, thanks again. I'll include it in the comparison with the Jura and the DeLonghi super-auto models.

I what to buy a cappuccino machine

Thanks zhenya00 and Elron for the most helpful advice I've found on the Silvia/Rocky combo.

I'm looking for an espresso machine now. I like the price on this combo, and there's an overwhelming amount of praise for it in the right places all over the web, but my reality is I'm not into process and fuss on early weekday mornings. I'm more about one cup-and-done, but, I want that one cup to be top notch.

So - any recommendations for an easy-to-use, top quality, reliable and long-lasting automatic under $3000?

English treats: Where to find a "Jacket Potato" in NYC?

In jolly ole England my favorite late-night snack came from a Jacket Potato cart - a buttery delicious baked potato stuffed with chili, cheese, sour cream and chips. Are there any stands or carts in NYC that offer this treat?

On another note - I found that in England the kebab places all put chips (fries) or offered to put chips on top of the kebab's - anywhere in the city also do this?

Thanks!

Döner kebab?

The new Halal cart, Delle & Campbell has it - looked & smelled good. This is in downtown DC though, and I wouldn't recommend going for a while - the place is swamped at lunch time and doesn't have a very efficient system yet.

Currywurst

Never knew that - the currywurst I order is most definitely a sausage, not a sauce, and doesn't come with ketchup or any sauce for that matter (doesn't taste like spicy ketchup either). I realize that in Germany when you get one it may come covered in ketchup, but at the place in NYC where I had it, it doesn't. Do you mean that it's just a regular sausage that's cooked in a curry sauce, hence the name for the sausage? Always wondered how they were made.

Currywurst

Have also been searching - to no avail. Heard German Gourmet doesn't have it, not sure about the other place. However, if you are in NYC, Lederhosen, a little German Bar in the East Village does have it, and it is delicious!

Sriracha Chili Sauce Condiment or Crack?!

Nothing goes better with sriracha than mac n cheese. but it is true, it goes with everything (close second is pizza, third is dumplings). sriracha is crack. also love the chili garlic sauce, use it to make burgers. delish.

SweetGreen in Gtown

Just tried it for the first time - was *hoping* it would be Pinkberry-esque, but this yogurt actually had no flavor - I mean it literally tasted like nothing, just cold and smooth. The flavor is called "Plain Tart," but there wasn't even a hint of tart. I don't know if this was an off night, or if there are actually two flavors, but I got no tart at all, which was quite disappointing. Has someone really had vanilla-tart yogurt there? Also, the fruit toppings were less-than fresh & ripe, but wasn't terrible. Just okay really.

In the other thread about Fro-Yo on the board, there are some very promising looking shops coming to the area in the Fall - notably, Snowberry and Lollicup. Though it is not clear whether they will be in VA instead of DC.

Taqueria Nationale

Yeah, where is this Lucky's? Bulgogi sandwich? I work near Union Station too, and I eat at least 2 times a week at Taqueria Nationale now. Would love another good option...

Delfina - Menu Changes?

Yeah, I've been wanting to hit Delfina, I think I'll just stick with it. Thanks all!

Vegas Airport - One Night Only!

Hehe thanks for all the tips guys! Here's my deal - I am taking the redeye from San Fran to DC, with a stop in Vegas. My flight gets to Vegas around 8:30, and leaves for DC at midnight. Now, I realize this is a crazy idea to leave the airport, but I am willing to run, and do think it might be better not to go to the strip b/c of the traffic on a friday night. But do you still think that the security lines will be that long at 11pm on Friday night heading out of town? How crazy is this? I'm flying out on America West, comin in on United. Seems to me i'm safer going with a place like Todds or Lotus. I'm figuring, I get off the plane, jog to the taxi lines, and get to the restaurant, all within 30-45 min. that puts me at about 915-930. then, order, eat, order cab, leave the restaurant by 1030-1045? End up back at the airport no later than 1105... which gives me about 40 min to get to my gate. then i sleep with a full belly on the plane all the way to DC :)

Ultimately, I just feel like i'd be depressed sitting in the Vegas airport for 3 hours when I'm sooo close. I could just head to the strip, walk around for like 20 min, and head back. I've only been to Vegas once! Gotta make the most of it :)

Vegas Airport - One Night Only!

Well, I"m not so into serious risk taking, and I agree it might just be better to go to a place off the strip - in which case, possibly Table 34? Would Rosemary's be a stretch? I know everyone says Lotus of Siam is out of this world, and I believe them - is everything on the menu that good, or are there certain dishes that top the charts? Last thing I want on an overnight flight is to be spending any time in the lavatory... ew.

Delfina - Menu Changes?

Cool - thanks for the tips. I've only got one night in San Fran, and I'd wanted to go to this place the last time I was in town but hit Gary Danko instead (wish I could go back there, but don't have the budget). Sounds like it should work out, but are there other good dining options for 1 that I should consider? - I've already been to Zuni Cafe. Thanks! (I'm staying in Union Sq.)

Vegas Airport - One Night Only!

Interesting, thanks very much for the reply - I've heard mixed reviews about Emeril's, but will definitely investigate further. I looked up Lotus of Siam, and see that it's not too far either, but I'm slightly nervous about eating spicy thai before a long flight back east... now that I know the strip is close, I'll def be lookin into other options at close hotels. thanks!

Delfina - Menu Changes?

Is there a bar area at Delfina? If it's just me trying to eat there for dinner on Thurs night, will I have a good chance of snagging a seat?

Vegas Airport - One Night Only!

Hi all,

I have a 3.5hr layover at the Vegas airport on Friday, and I'm wondering if I'd have enough time to enjoy a tasty meal somewhere (outside of the airport) while I'm there. I don't know what the airport's proximity is to the strip. So, if anyone has any dinner recs for 1, either on strip or off (not too pricey), that would be within a shortish taxi ride, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks much.

Requesting 3 great restaurants in DC

Hi there - I second the Ray's recs for steak and amazing scallops and key lime pie - I'd do Maestro over Citronelle if money is no object, and over Cityzen as well. Hit Eve if you'd like to check out Old Towne, which is definitely worth checking out if you have time, and you'll have some spectacular food. Think it's a reasonable cab ride but not sure. Also, Palena is really good - I'd recommend sitting at the bar though - more choice, same great menu.

2 Days in WeHo, where must I go?

I'm going to be in West Hollywood for the first time this weekend - are there any places that I can't leave without hitting up? Not looking to break the bank (+$75/person), and definitely love the hole-in-the walls... Any great recs for Burritos, Sushi, dumplings, asian noodles, taiwanese, burgers, Cali-cuisine, tapas, or anything else thats a must-have while I'm there? Also, wouldn't mind some direction with what to order :)

Have no clue as to geographical layout, but I'm sure if it's not in Weho but it's close, that probably isn't a problem...

If you'd care to throw in a bar rec, I wouldn't mind that either.

Thanks very much!
