Food shopping in Edmonton

Incredible selection here. Try the frozen papusas (esp the cheese and jalapeño!). You just pan fry them and they are scrumptious.

Food shopping in Edmonton

The Italian Bakery on 97th street is incredibly well stocked for its size and very reasonable. They make great lattes that are yummy and inexpensive. A great treat with their homemade baking :) try the chocolate dip donuts! Also they will make a yummy Italian sandwich with your choice if Deli meats and cheese.

Good shwarma in Edmonton?

la Shish is scrumptious and I agree with the comment about the grumpy owner ;-)
La Famoso is also my favorite place for pizza. Amazing thin crust!

Best donair in Edmonton?

By Far the best place is La Shish Taouk on 118 st and Jasper Ave. He marinates his meat from scratch. Hope you enjoy it.

Best Thai and Chinese restaurants in Edmonton?

Definitely try Syphay (on Calgary Trail). It's a tiny house but lots of character. They serve Thai and Loation. Fantastic and reasonably priced. Authentic.

For a bit of a fancier place, try "Pad Thai" on Whyte Ave.

Desperately seeking great hot chocolate in Edmonton

The "Mexican" hot chocolate at Culina's was fantastic. You can also purchase Nestle's "Abuelita" brand to make mexican hot chocolate at home. Not quite sure where you can purchase it here in Edmonton. It's quite yummy and my favorite hot chocolate - it's a solid disk of chocolate (with a touch of cinnamon and hot pepper)

Some like the hot chocolate at "Bueno Gelato" - Bernard Callibaut chocolate melted in homogenized milk. Personally, I prefer their lattes and gelatos which are fantastic.

Desperate-please help LA hound 1 nite Edmonton

I hope you haven't already made your trip out here, but the Manor Cafe is a great restaurant. I believe you can access their menu online. The ambience is great and the food is consistently very good. I have never had a disappointing meal here.

Thai food in Edmonton

I haven't been on this site in a while but I needed to add my vote for the Syphay Restaurant. It is authentic, family owned and operated and reasonably priced. Although it is not very chic, it is cozy, comfortable and clean. The "black/purple" sticky rice with mango and ice cream is an amazingly tasty dessert. I am pretty sure they use strips of fresh coconut in the rice. Excellent service and surprisingly consistent. Since I discovered this restaurant I haven't really been going to The Pad Thai (I have to admit the ambience is better at The Pad Thai).

Help! Canadian Hound seeking Eggplant parmigiana/Italian in UES (not too expensive please)

Hi There,

I am visiting my friend in the upper east (2nd Ave & 69st). Can someone please recommend a great Italian restaurant that is in the $10-$15 range and hopefully within walking distance?

We have had some great dining experiences in the East Village and went to a fantastic place (Mamas Food Shop - 200 E 3rd St btw Ave A & B). But it has been much tougher to find great dining spots in this area (although Pyramida was pretty good middle eastern food)Thanks so much for helping
