Vidalia 24 or Inn at Little Washington?
Thanks! However, I think you are referring to the chef's table at IALW. We are not considering that. The choices are IALW regular table or Vidalia 24.

Vidalia 24 or Inn at Little Washington?
We are going to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and want to make it very special. So, we have definitely narrowed it down to Vidalia 24(post RJ) or the Inn at little washington. Which do you think would be more memorable. Vidalia 24 will put us in the kitchen, so it will be very intimate and private. Any diners been there (V24) since RJ left?

Telepan at dinner next week- what are their best dishes at the moment?
Has anybody been recently?
Dinner before Village Vanguard...and dessert after...
One word : Po
Awesome Italian and reasonable prices. Small place in the Village.
Need a nice and romantic Greenwich Village spot
How about Luna Piena? Would that foot our bill?

Please review a fellow foodie's preliminary itinerary ...
We have been to Trattoria Trecolori a few times and have really enjoyed it each time. Really good basic Italian food. Ambience is casual and friendly. Service is good but certainly not refined. It is basically a really good, casual and reasonably priced Italian.

Thank you both! I think we are going to stick with Blue Hill as it gets such incredible reviews and won't really break the bank.
So, we also wanted a $15-20 an entree Italian in midtown East for the night before. We came accross Pescatore. Anyone eaten there recently and any other Italian ideas??

OK...now I am having serious second thoughts. Maybe we should eat at Blue Hill. The reviews from chowhound, yelp and tripadvisor are so favorable. Any thoughts??

Need a nice and romantic Greenwich Village spot
So, my wife and myself are celebrating her birthday on a Wednesday night in the village. We currently have reservations at Blue Hill, however, we would like something less expensive. Maybe $15-$20 an entree, but we still want really good food. Obviously, we would take a hit with something lowering the cost that much.
American food, seafood, great salads would be a few examples. We are not looking for ethnic type places. We would also like the ambience and service to be pretty nice. One example of a place that fits our bill would be Po, but we have already been there.
Thanks so much for your help!!

Inox in McLean?
Weird...I called yesterday (Thursday) and they said they open on Friday. In any case, I'm looking forward to hearing the first reports!
Need help with dinner!
My wife and I would like to celebrate each other at a nice dinner in DC. Actually we would be happier to be in Virginia. We want to try something new and have been to the following nice places:
2941
Palena
Obelisk
Marcels
Bastille
1789
Rasika
many others...sorry can't recall right now.
Currently, we have a reservation for Blue Duck Tavern, but some of the reviews are not great. Very mixed. What we are looking for is great food and a nice environment. We don't drink and would like the bill to not be more than $100-110 or so total. So, any more than $30 for an entree is out. We like French, Italian, Seafood, Indian ....we do not eat red meat.
Thanks so much in advance for any recs!
Great Italian in Midtown West
Well, I think we made a decision. I picked three restaurants and we're trying to keep the costs to about $100 out the door and we don't drink alcohol. What do you guys think?
Vice Versa - Restaurant week
Aquagrill
L'ecole - just the two of us
Should we make any any changes? Basically, I wanted 1 midrange French, Italian and Seafood.
Thanks!
Great Italian in Midtown West
Thanks again RGR...you are always so helpful. Yes, the whole family is going. I'll check out Via Emilia.
Great Italian in Midtown West
By the way, at this point I have a reservation at Vice Versa. I also have one at Nougatine but we don't eat red meat and their restaurant week menu includes a filet and they said "no substitutions."
Great Italian in Midtown West
Okay, so since this post I've been to Trattoria Trecolori twice and each time it was great. Wonderful food, nice yet casual vibe and the right price. Thanks so much for the recs! So, now my wife and three year old are going to be in NY and I would like an Italian at about the same price, location doesn't matter (Manhattan) and equal quality food. What do you think? Thanks so much in advance!
Telepan?
I have scoured the boards for weeks and am still confused. Should we keep our reservation at Telepan?
We need to be "sort of" near Carnegie Hall (maybe 30 blocks either way so no Village etc...).
We also like the idea of a tasting menu.
And we like the price point of Telepan....but the reviews are so mixed.
Has anyone been there lately? How does it compare to Dovetail and does DT have a tasting menu?
Or should we go to Ouest?
Also...no Italian as we're going to Viceversa the night before.
Trattoria Trecolori
Idia,
We went about a month ago and the food was great, the place was lively and the service was friendly and efficient. They are indeed located at the 47th street address that their website indicates.
best breakfast around 65th street on the east side
We are looking for a fantastic breakfast for 3 on a Saturday morning. Please keep in mind we will be with our 2 year old. We have eaten at Normas and that was quite good....any other suggestions closer to the above address??
Thanks again!
How is Balthazar, Le gigot and aquagrill these days???
After much reading and research, I have decided on our two restaurants. They are:
Vice Versa and Aquagrill. We wanted 2 restaurants with nice ambience and great food; also, one night Italian and one seafood. We quickly realized that Boley would cost about $300 and the above two would be about that combined. So, with the extra money I'll buy my wife some earings!!
Thank you all so much and when I return I'll give a report.
How is Balthazar, Le gigot and aquagrill these days???
Actually, we are looking for a French restaurant along the lines of Vice Versa; romantic, very good food, would help if it were lower than 14th street (but it doesn't have to be). Balthazar and Marseille are two that stick out. Any other suggestions?? Which would be better between Balthazar and Marseille for what I'm looking for? Need the best French mid-priced restaurant in NY! Thank you so much for all of the input!
How is Balthazar, Le gigot and aquagrill these days???
Looking for a more casual restaurant for an evening in March. Trying to decide between Balthazar, Aquagrill and Le Gigot for just my wife and I. We are primarily looking for a place with entrees in the $20-30 range, great seafood, nice desserts and a nice ambience. It needs to be in the lower part of Manhattan (anything below about 14th street)
Also...if you had to pick one.....Crispo or Vice Versa?
Any thoughts??
Need French food for 40th Bday celebration
Thanks so much RGR! We actually went to Roberto Passon and would not go back. The food was good but the service was not. Waiters were rushing around and getting things wrong. Also, the room was very sterile; like the owners put no thought into making it look nice. Frankly, I was surprised Hounds like it so much.
So, it looks like Bouley and Vice Versa!
Need French food for 40th Bday celebration
I'm thinking Vice Versa might be perfect. ????
Need French food for 40th Bday celebration
By the way, RGR....I checked out L'Impero and it looks great. However, I think I'm leaning towards Bouley to try an all out multi course French experience. And L'Impero is just a little too expensive and just too much for the night after Bouley.
Need French food for 40th Bday celebration
So, thank you for all of the suggestions. Here is what we have so far. I decided to treat my wife and I at Bouley on Thursday night as we won't feel rushed for the 8:00 curtain. That should be really great!
Now...we need a great place about 10-15 blocks from Carnegie Hall on Friday night. From reading the boards, Trattoria Del Arte is often recommended. We definitely want Italian somewhat casual and would like to keep the price at a minimum. The prices, food and ambience at Trattoria Trecolori were perfect and I could certainly go up a few bucks. Anything to match Trattoria Trecolori within 10-15 blocks of CH? What do you think?
Great dinner in Tysons Corner area?
2941 is a fine dining destination very close to Tysons Corner (Route 50 and 495). It is about 10 minutes from TC. The food is French and they offer either a tasting menu at about $115 a person or you can just order off the menu. I have not been there since the new chef took over, but when I did go the food was tremendous. The new chef has gotten rave reviews.

Would La Petite Auberge fit my bill?? Or is it too casual?
