There are two new Chinese restaurants in the area. The best one is Szechuan Inn, on Kanan in the Vons shooping center. It is in the corner between CVS and Vons. Second is Green Onion just east of Lindero Cyn on Thousand Oaks Blvd (right next to Ameci). It is pretty good too but Szezuan is better.

Sushi Don just off the 101 at Laurel Canyon, a little takeout joint in a strip mall. Same owner as Sasabune.
What else at Phillipes is good besides the sandwiches?
I love their chili too. I have seen a lot of people ordering the beef stew which looks great.Haven't tried it yet.

Gwai lo(sp) means white(or American) devil in Chinese. Its not exactly an enduring term so I am not sure what the relevance is in describing people who enjoy non-traditional sushi.

For good pizza delivery in Studio City, try Mazzarino's. IMHO they rank 2nd behind Albanos, but still very good.

Papa Cristo's is the best Greek Deli in the city hands down. Don't bother looking anywhere else, they will have what you need.

suggestions for Mexican food in Boyle Heights/East LA?
I would try El Riconcito Del Mar at 2940 1st Street(near Evergeen). They specialize in Seafood (i.e. Cocteles and Caldos) but they have other yummy food. They have been in Business for over 10 year(I think close to twenty). It is a sit-down restaurant and they have a bar too.
Where to eat around USC?
Papa Cristos is the best Greek food in Los angeles ,and is inexpensive and very close to USC. It is on the corner of Normandie and Pico. Parking is in the back on Normandie.
