Tasting menus in Houston?

I don't recall if they have tasting menus, but the best restaurants in Houston that would be similar to your Chicago picks are Reef and Gravitas.

I really, really wanted to like t'afia, but have been underwhelmed on my two visits.

(HOU) Best Romantic Restaurant

My husband and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary, and I'm looking for the perfect place to celebrate. We love Gravitas, Brennans, and Reef, but I'm open to suggestions.

[HOU] Afternoon/High Tea

Any recommendations? I'm spending a Saturday with my 9-year-old god-daughter and would love to take her to tea. I've heard of tea at the St. Regis, but wonder if it's worth $35/per person.

Good Breakfast Place in Houston????

We love Harry's Cafeteria on Tuam/Bagby. They have great breakfast with lots of variety and delicious hand-squeezed OJ.

Good Bakery in HOUSTON

I would go to Central Market. Either the Houston Press or the Chronicle did a taste test of best breads, and CM won.

What's great in Houston?

There are two new indie coffee shops that I love. Inversion on Montrose (near West Gray) and Catalina on Washington (between Sawyer and Houston Ave). I hate Taft Street Coffee--everyone who works there is incompetent.

For breakfast, I recommend Goode Co. Taqueria, Lankford's Grocery (They're a burger joint, but their breakfast menu is excellent.), Daily Grind (also a good coffee shop), Harry's Cafeteria, Barnaby's, and the Breakfast Klub. If you don't get to the breakfast club early in the morning, expect a very long wait.

[HOU] Brunch or dinner at Hugo's?

We really want to try brunch at Hugo's, but are worried that it will be too crowded. Is it always busy there? I am looking for a relaxed atmostphere, which I know they have at dinner.

Romantic, affordable restaurant in HOU open on Monday nights?

Sorry, under $75 for both of us would be great.

Romantic, affordable restaurant in HOU open on Monday nights?

We will be celebrating our anniversary in a few weeks and would like to find something romantic, but affordable. We love La Dolce Vida, but it's not open on Mondays. I'm up for anything, but my sweetheart prefers Italian and Tex Mex. (He'd be happy to go to Goode Co.--I'm the one who wants something special.)

[HOU] DaMarco, Arcodoro, or Dolce Vida

I have only been to La Dolce Vida and had a wonderful experience. Was there with husband, parents (mid sixties) and grandmother (mid eighties). My grandmother can be incredibly difficult at restaurants. (I often double the tip.) We had wonderful service and incredible food. I was worried it would be too hip and noisy for her, but she really wants to go back. Everyone had a great time and loved the food.
