Had lunch today at Thermidor. Sad to report I can not recommend it. The portions were very small, poor quality food overall, overpriced and amateurish service. I had a chicken salad. The chicken was breaded (not shredded and poached as stated on the menu) and tasted as though it had been prepared the day before. The chicken was served cold over romaine and the meat was not tender. The wait staff tried but it was clear the facility did not have the feel of a place where people who were genuinely interested in the food but more interested in being seen in a cool modern environment. Though the concept and interior were both appreciated and well executed the overall experience was lackluster and unfulfilling. So, thumbs down and not returning. Too cold of an ambiance - no soul in the food/restaurant.

Prather Ranch has the Best Beef in the Bay Area
After reading all of the good press on Prather Ranch, I went directly to the Ferry Bldg. and purchased 2lbs of tri tip on Saturday. Please note that I paid nearly double than usual for the tri tips that I usually purchase at Whole Foods or Lunardis.But no worries since I was so excited to try what I had read as the "Rolls Royce" of meats. So, that evening, I grilled the meat with a light marinade and sad to report it was barely edible. The meat was tough and tasteless and I was terribly disappointed.

italian food for birthday dinner
Help, I need a rec. for the best italian restuarant in SF. A dining experience that has a warm atmosphere, not as sophisticated as incanto or acquerrello and serves good, authentic italian food. My guest is requesting chicken piccata and gelato for dessert. Any suggestions? Thank you
