lunch in seneca, sc
We are passing through Seneca on Thursday to take my sister in law to lunch. Is there any where great to eat that is casual and fun? Something with outdoor seating would be even better!
Thanks!
food trucks….asheville
thanks! that is really helpful. but i am also looking for reviews…..which trucks have the best food?
food trucks….asheville
We are going to be in Asheville over memorial day weekend. Our kids are fascinated by food trucks and I know Asheville has quite a few. We are planning to hit as many as possible and are willing to try any type of food. What are the best of the best in Asheville?
Thanks!
New Orleans One Dinner
the cub is fantastic! great hole in the wall….old school shreveport. our other favorite is noble savage downtown. always top notch!
Etouffee with dirty rice ? [Moved from New Orleans]
absolutely agree! and crawfish is ideal, with shrimp coming in second in an étouffée…..chicken is unheard of!
Another rehearsal dinner question
We are in the planning stages of a Thursday night rehearsal dinner in late October. The church rehearsal is at St. Stephen's on Napoleon. We would like to try to stay in the area as it would be convenient and most of those attending are staying in B&B's in the garden district/uptown. We are expecting between 60-75 and would prefer a cocktail attire sit down dinner type of venue. Have considered Coquette but I think they will be a bit small for such a group. Also looked at Vizzard's but again size is the issue. Thinking about Commanders but struggling with other options in this area. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks!
last minute questions
We are heading to DC for the upcoming weekend. So far Thurs dinner at Jaleo in Crystal City, Fri. dinner at Founding Farmers, hoping to hit Tackle Box for dinner on Sat., Oyamel for Sunday lunch/brunch and Liberty Tavern for dinner on Sunday. Any can't miss dishes at these establishments? We are a party of 5 with adventurous kids. Also because we will be out and about during the day will we be out of place in jean/nice sweater? Thanks for any input!

crystal city sunday rec
We are staying at the Embassy Suites in Crystal City and need a recommendation for a Sunday night dinner. We already have reservation at Jaleo earlier in the week. There are 5 of us…..3 are kids but they are adventurous eaters so no kids menus are needed (but also wouldn't want to stick out with kids in tow!) Looking for somewhere fun and lively with great food. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
first time to DC
We are staying at the Doubletree Hilton---Crystal City….what neighborhood is that? The conference is at the hotel. We will be cab/metro-ing while there. I would love some ideas of where to go/what to see/do solo. The only thing we absolutely don't eat is offal other than that we are really open. Just want some really great fun food experiences. Thanks for the help!
first time to DC
My husband and I are rendezvousing in DC at the end of Oct. He is deployed to Afghanistan for a year and has to be back stateside for a conference in DC, so we have 4 days to eat. I am just beginning to research the city and where to eat. I am flying in Thursday pm and leaving Monday am. So I am looking for any best eats….not really looking for $200 tasting dinner or super chic places. Really we just want really yummy food at really fun lively places. Any and all suggestions would be great…from breakfast to snacks to the best dinner in town. Thanks in advance!
Vegetarian recommendations in Mobile, Alabama?
i am pretty sure you can find something at the OK bicycle shop on Dauphin St. Not sure how much of the menu is vegetarian but I would think with all the options on the menu they could make you something yummy! And the margaritas are super yummy!
gulf coast night out
We are heading out this weekend with friends for a night out along the gulf coast. We are in Ocean Springs but are willing to go as far as Gulfport. Looking for something a bit festive with really great food. Seafood or steaks or something a bit ethnic is great…the only thing off limits is the casinos. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!
dinner night before the marathon
Heading to town to watch the hubby cross the finish line of the rock and roll marathon in 2 weeks. Would love ideas on where to go the night before where he can really carb load and still have a really great dinner and lots of fun. We are staying on Poydras and we don't have to be walking distance but would like a short drive. Thanks in advance!
public house, chattanooga?
We have dinner reservations for tomorrow night at Public House but I am beginning to reconsider. We are a family of 5 looking for somewhere between casual and upscale with a lively scene and GREAT food. The menu reads wonderfully but I have heard mixed reviews. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If not Public House any other suggestions at last minute?
Thanks!
new year's in chattanooga
We are heading to Chattanooga for 4 nights over the New Year. Looking for the best place to have a traditional New Years meal on Saturday for lunch. The whole blackeyed peas and greens fixin…..although creative takes on the traditional is ok too. Any suggestions?
Also anything child friendly for New Year's Eve….but not kiddie!

MS Hot Tamales.......
doris's in diberville is not so great. love the idea but the actual tamales were a bit bland. bought some goat meat tamales from the lovely lady at the ocean springs fresh market last week. haven't tried them yet but i will tomorrow for lunch!
MS Gulf Coast
I was a bit disappointed with The Front Porch b/c their posted hours showed that they should have been opened when we dropped by It makes the chowhound field trip a bit unfun when you go out of your way for a great meal and the place is closed. Next time we will have to try the Love Shack! I love chef Dani….I buy her fresh pastas at the OS market when when she is there. We have been to Capone's once for dinner and the service was beyond slow and they were out of almost half of the menu…..made for a bit of a downer of a night out. We may try again.

Weekend in Fairhope
I am going to be in Fairhope, AL next weekend for a girls weekend. We are trying to keep it a bit low key but want a few good places to try. We are staying in a house so we will be able to cook some.
I know Panini Pete's is good. We will be heading to Sweet Home Farm on Saturday to pick up some yummy cheeses. I know there seems to be a bit of turnover in restaurants in Fairhope and I am not sure what is a can't miss right now!
Thanks!

Does anyone have any info on Clay Oven? Went today for lunch and the doors were locked and there were no trespassing signs in all the windows. Are they closed for good are was it just a fluke?

lunch between pascagoula and bsl.....the best?
Looking to go for a fun special lunch on Friday....any suggestions? Would like the menu to be seafood heavy and atmosphere matters. Anything from a dive to upscale but the food needs to be great.
Thanks in advance!
oxford and tupelo
We will be in Tupelo for dinner on Friday and Oxford on Saturday. I know it is busy now with students returning to school but I want to eat the best in each city. Planning on Park Heights for dinner in Tupelo unless someone can recommend something better. Trying to decide between Taylor Grocery, Yocana, Ravine, and City Grocery for dinner on Saturday. We want something fun but also really good food. Any advice?
Also any can't miss stops for nibbling throughout the day. Thanks!

Luke or Herbsaint
Heading to town NOLA next tuesday with a friend and we have narrowed it down to Besh's Luke or Link's Herbsaint. Knowing that it is going to be a Tuesday and that we are a party of 2 women which is likely to have the best food and atmosphere...something fun! Which would you recommend?
Thanks!

A girlfriend and I will be in town for just one night. We are looking for some where to eat that is stellar but also that has a lively atmosphere. Location is not really a factor as we will probably take a taxi. We usually share plates so something with different things to try would be great. Thanks!
