Breakfast Spots - South Calgary
There are not many good options in the south.
99th Ave Cafe, attached to Stetson Village Inn on 99th and MacLeod, serves up really cheap and really good breakfasts. you can even get deep fried tater tots with your meal LOL. Here is my earlier review here http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/678036
Cheesecake Cafe just north of Heritage and MacLeod also makes an OK breakfast.
Limerick's on Macleod between Heritage and Glenmore also has a $6 eggs benny or $6 eggs + meat breakfast (I think they are part of the same chain as Dixon's, which Bill mentoined above). We had the eggs benny breakfast a couple of weeks ago, and the portions are small, but then again what can you expect for $6.
Best Italian food shop Calgary
who cares about hot food, there are a million and one italian restaurants in the city anyhow. if you're looking for a good store, though, Scarpone's is by far the best.
Need a Mothers day dinner spot in E-town. Mid upper range pricing and hopefully some seats for three

Best Italian food shop Calgary
my vote also goes to The Italian Store. Far bigger, wider selection, and better prices than ANY other Italian store in the city.
question about pizza in Tucson
Hello,
Can anyone tell me what style of pizza is common at the mom and pop shops around Tucson? Is it more of a California style? I've done some googling and it seems there are many places offering NY style or "gourmet" pizza, however I'm curious what style is sold in the local indie bars, pubs, and restaurants around town.
Thanks
Big D's Smokehouse - CFM (Calgary)
I avoid CFM at all costs. I also think many of the food vendors can actually pass off a lower quality product for more money, just because they have a somewhat captive market, and folks are under the illusion that they are getting something special jsut because it's at the CFM.
Smashburger Coming to YYC
here's a video showing hoe smashburgers are made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEiyHCxqofg
YYC Holy Smoke Bbq
LOL, I live walking distance to the CFM so I guess I should know that, although I try to avoid that place and think i've only been two times since they moved!
Where do you get great eggs in Calgary??
I hear ya, I like dark yolks too! i was just saying it's not indicative of quality. :)
Where do you get great eggs in Calgary??
Dark orange yolk is a result of diet (usually color supplements), and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the egg.
Nathans hot dogs at Safeway...what varieties (Calgary)
I don't care what they say is in them, they taste and eat like cheap Oscar Meyer weiners. Certainly not worth the premium price. Hebrew National makes a far better ghetto dog, but alas they don't sell those in YYC.
Rangoli cafe - Glenmore and Blackfoot
I live nearby and have driven by many times, but have never tried it because it looks like they just target the industrial lunch market. I thought this based on the 'fly by night' appearance of the exterior, but I can now confirm this by looking at the hours on their website. I generally avoid places that subsist on captive markets, like the U of C food court or pizza shops located next to high schools. LOL. But who knows, it might be a hidden gem. Let us know if you try it!
Nathans hot dogs at Safeway...what varieties (Calgary)
We bought some last night. They were good, but perhaps not worth the (very) premium price. $7 for a pack of 8 low-grade hot dogs is pretty steep IMO. For the same price, you can get locally made sausages that are much larger and much higher quality. Thanks, but no thanks, Nathan's!
new thread for inglewood in Calgary
^^LOL all you have to do is walk down the street :P
Ginger Beer in Calgary?
LOL, i'm sorry, how did I get "spruce beer" from "ginger beer." anyhow, i'm an idiot, sorry about that!
Ginger Beer in Calgary?
spruce beer can refer to actual beer with alcohol, or soda pop - which are you looking for?
If you're looking for the soda, they sell it in cans at Alberta King of Subs. Can't help with actual beer though, sorry!
Best Burger in Calgary?
I think they have pretty good burgers at Jack Astor's. pretty good beer selection too, and giant TVs if you're watching the game.
calgary early breakfast downtown
I would most certainly not recommend 1886. The food there is HORRIBLE and OVERPRICED. $16 for pale eggs, half-cooked potatoes, cold toast, no meat??? no thanks!
Rocco's Pizza in Tucson--Stuffed Crust or Regular?
people in Chicago would laugh at their deep dish pizza. Deep dish is suppossed to have a very thin crust (like a pie), not a giant 2" rim like they make at Rocco's!

Kefi Greekhouse & Ouzo Bar ... closed??
we went twice, and really enjoyed it both times. but maybe their kitchen was a bit inconsistent or something.
i always thought the room looked pretty... rough, i guess is a good word. it kinda looked like they just bought an old warehouse and splashed a little white and blue paint around. you could see, for example, where they had applied paint over various old wall finishes, cracked tiles, etc. not that I minded, but I certainly did notice it.
5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?
I actually worked the grill at a Dairy Queen in the states waaaay back in high school. I don't know if it was because I was just a kid, or if because we made all of the food to order, but I remember it being pretty good. So fast forward about 20 years (i hadn't eaten there since), and I got a burger from DQ one day and it was expensive and terrible. it tasted like it was burned carbon, but it wasn't burned. not sure how the got it to taste like that, maybe they didn't clean the grill. anyhow, i'm not sure how representative that was since i won't be eating there again haha.
5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?
The burger combos at Dairy Queen are also around $10 - and their food is TERRIBLE!
5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?
I hear ya Shazam. Five Guys is way, way, way better than any other fast food chain in the city, and isn't much more expensive. can you make a better burger at home? Sure - but then again, this can be said about pretty much ANY burger in the city. I don't know, some people just like to complain about everything!
Great burgers In Calgary SE
go try it dude! I live really close to Oscar's, but I'm not really one to order a burger at a restaurant.... but if someone told me it was awesome, i would totally go for it hahah!
Torontonian visiting Calgary....reccomendations, please?
if you're looking for the best Calgarian-style pizza (yes, a greek-style pie as bill mentioned), head to Atlas Pizza in the NE. there are other places that serve this style that are probably closer to where you will be, but Atlas does it best.
Great burgers In Calgary SE
I've never had a burger at Oscar's, but I have eaten there and the food is outstanding. Hands down the best french onion soup i've EVER had.
