Now I know my A, B, C......

As pretty much all NYC restaurants have now received their publicly reported grades, I have seen more and more of my favorites receiving grades of B or even C. Should I be avoiding these? When you look at the inspection history and see scores for the same restaurant varying by 40 points or more over a brief period of time, it calls into question the validity of the process. But still--a rating of C because of filth flies and poor refrigeration? Ugh.

Any Chowish suggestions for the Harpswell/Brunswick area? Interested in great lobster rolls of course but anyplace with great food is welcome.

Blue Hill disappointment

Blue Hill has always been a favorite of mine, but I have noticed a recent trend towards what I would call "fussy" food, e.g. use of foam, which I think is too precious for words. This is a very different ambience from the heartier food i have been accustomed to. Does anyone else detect the same change?

What a disappointment, another landmark of the old Upper West Side bites the dust after 40+ years.

Wondee Siam Amsterdam Avenue

There is a sign indicating a new branch of Wondee Siam will soon open on Amsterdam at 107th Street. This site is not more than 100 feet away from Thai Market, which seems to be everyone's go-to Thai place in the neighborhood. Any reason to think Wondee will be an improvement? I can't imagine it will be.
