Pumpkin lasagna recipe?

I've had pumpkin lasagna on my mind for a week now and need to just make it already! Any great recipes out there? My vision includes sage. Maybe hazelnuts? I may just wing it, but would love to hear if anyone has an out-of-this-world recipe. Thanks!!

Aruba - looking for recs

We're headed to Aruba for 5 days next week- staying on Eagle Beach. Looking for a few good spots for casual, reasonably priced food. Fine dining is not what we're after - we enjoy that kind of food often enough. Suggestions for something in the land that lies between Madame Jenette's and KFC would be great. We do have reservations one night at Flying Fishbone. Have heard mixed reviews, but not sure what went wrong when people were dissatisfied - would be curious to hear details.
Thanks in advance!

Looking for rhubarb - NYC

Has anyone seen rhubarb in anywhere yet? Need about 6 lbs for next week (yikes!) and haven't seen it yet. Anyone spotted it anywhere? Thanks!

Searching for olive oil chocolate mousse recipe

I came across a really interesting recipe years ago for a Spanish chocolate mousse, but can't for the life of me remember where I saw it. I know it incorporated bittersweet chocolate, olive oil, eggs, and grand marnier- no cream. It was dense, rich, peppery - really fantastic. I've looked around online and nothing I've come across looks quite right. Anyone out there have a good recipe? Thanks!

Sick of gazpacho - need some new chilled soup ideas

Any good recipes out there for refreshing chilled soup? I'm thinking melon, cucumber, or maybe even stone fruit of some sort. Would love your thoughts. Thanks!

Salmon .. take it to the next level

Simple as can be: loosen up a few tablespoons of white miso paste with a bit of mirin/vermouth/wine/orange juice/whatever you have on hand and a drop or two of sesame oil. Spread over salmon filets. Bake at 400 for 10-15 mins (depending on thickness). Miso sauce will be slightly caramelized, mellow and just delicious.

Savory pumpkin/squash pie or quiche?

Looks interesting, though I don't have the Silver Spoon cookbook and the recipe isn't listed on that blog. Will have to poke around online. I think, however, I'd prefer a recipe with a shortcrust rather than puff pastry. Thanks, nonetheless!

What do you cook in your microwave?

I occasionally melt butter or chocolate in there. Mostly, however, I use it for the timer.

Savory pumpkin/squash pie or quiche?

I'm looking for a vegetarian recipe for savory pumpkin (or other winter squash) pie or quiche to serve for brunch this weekend. Any tried and true out there?
Thanks!

Sunday post-wedding breakfast for large group, Greenwich Village

I'm looking for a spot to host a casual open-house-type breakfast for some of my out of town guests the morning after my wedding. Unfortunately, Washington Square Hotel, where many (but not all) of our guests will be staying cannot comfortably accommodate the 60 or so people I anticipate will come to breakfast. I'm thinking something simple: private or even semi-private, perhaps buffet-style, breakfast (breads, jams, pastries, yogurt, granola, fruit, juice, coffee)... And, because we really don't want to host another wedding the morning after, I'd like something relatively inexpensive (i.e. less than $20/head). Any suggestions in the area? Thanks in advance!!

Lunch near Grand Central?

Hi,
I need to find a spot for a business lunch near GCS and I'm drawing a complete blank! I'd like to find somewhere that's quiet enough where my associates and I can actually carry on a conversation. Nothing exceptionally pricey. Hope that is enough to go on... Appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanks.

Recipe similar to City Bakery's "melted" chocolate cookie?

I'd love to figure out how to make a cookie like the City Bakery's "melted" chocolate. It's a dark chocolate cookie with (i think) bittersweet chocolate chunks and what seems to be ganache or something... well... sort of melted. They are intense and divine! Somewhat brownie-like. Has anyone come across a recipe that could yield something along the lines of what i describe? (Any disgruntled former City Bakery employees around??) Thanks!

Barbone, E.U. or Brown Cafe tonight

I realize these three have little in common, but they're all under consideration for tonight. Can anyone help me choose? It will be just two of us, dining around 9:00. Thanks!

business lunch/coffee in east village?

looking for a good, quiet place to meet a colleague for coffee in the east village. Not too casual, but doesn't need to be fancy. Somewhere large enough where everyone in the place won't be able to hear us, but quiet enough where we'll be able to hear one another. Thanks!

Cambridge wine shop that will deliver?

Would like to send a bottle of wine to someone who lives in Cambridge (I live out of town) and am having a tough time coming up with a shop that will do same-day delivery today. Can someone recommend a place to me? I don't mind paying a reasonable delivery fee. Thanks in advance!

best brownie

This is a topic I feel strongly about, as I, too, am on a quest to discover NYC's best brownie! So far, the ones that top my list are Fat Witch, City Bakery and Le Pain Quotidien.

Breakfast/coffee recommendation for business meeting nr 51st & Lex

Hi,

Would love ideas for places near 51st and Lexington that are conducive to a business meeting, that offer good coffee and/or breakfast, and that have a pleasant (read: attractive and relatively quiet) environment. Thanks so much!

Help me choose- inexpensive to moderate, Italian

Check out Lavagna - 5th between A and B. The atmosphere is homey but cool, the food is fantastic, service is good and it definitely won't break the bank. I highly recommend the roasted artichoke appetizer with white beans and mushroom ragout. MMMM!!

korean bbq... confused

I've been reading old posts about korean bbq places in the 30s...trying to figure out where to go tomorrow night with a couple of friends who want to try things out. There definitely doesn't seem to be consensus here about the best places in k-town. We're somewhat uninitiated, but we know for sure that we want to cook our own food. Authentic is, of course, a bonus. Delicious is non-negotiable. Can someone direct us? Thanks very much!
