New Indian in Sarasota
We dined at 7 Hill -- Cuisine of India again a couple days ago and the food was just as delicious and service as good as the first time we went. We are going to try the lunch buffet next time.
SARASOTA Audrey's Jamaican Cuisine 4463D Ashton Road.
Another Groupon deal that paid off! We had a takeout lunch and........
Audrey's food is delicious, authentic and she is a delight to deal with.
There are a couple tables where you can eat in...the place is tiny and she says she will be expanding her menu as time goes on.
She is having a tasting party on April 21, 2012 from 11:00 am til 2:00 pm with a steel drum band so it should be fun.
My only complaint...a little skimpy on the meat portion of the meals but the taste is ohhhhh soooo goood!
The restaurant is in the back of the little strip mall. They are open 11:00am to 5:00pm as per their sign.
I wish we had known about this little gem a while ago.

SARASOTA Isan Thai Restaurant
We dined at Isan Thai this evening....food was DELICIOUS!!!!
The crispy duck was perfect....ultra crisp skin and moist on the inside.
SARASOTA Isan Thai Restaurant
Has anyone tried this restaurant and if so, please comment.
Isan Thai is quite close to where we live and we wondered if it is worth trying... if there is anything unique about the Thai food this place serves ... is it different than most of the other Thai restaurants around or is it same old same old.
TIA

New Indian in Sarasota
We ate dinner there Thursday night and also found the food quite delicious...outstanding actually....seasoning was perfect in the mains....staff so helpful...water glasses filled constantly and more rice was offered. The only very slight fault, in our experience, was that the vegetable samosas could have had a little more seasong...my husband and I found them slightly flat and not quite crispy enough. We certainly will return. (we are way over 60 BTW and love many types of ethnic food and DO know what it should taste like) :)
SARASOTA FL. Jimmys Sand Trap
If Southside Deli uses Boarshead Corned Beef and Pastrami they won't be getting my business...to me that is not "the real thing" UGH
J.R. Pho - Sarasota
Is the J.R. Pho menu the same as Amy's Pho or are there new dishes as well?
Sarasota SCHNITZEL KITCHEN
Has anyone tried this place yet...thinking of making reservations for Friday.
La Nostra Pasta 1100 N Tuttle Sarasota
Went to La Nostra Pasta again on Sunday evening....so good...just as good as the first time we dined there..they should be busier, bit I am guessing it may be the location.
If you sign up on their website, they give you a 10% off coupon, I believe or if you "like" them on Facebook, the do.the same.

Sarasota...Disappointing new Italian Bistro Figliulo
I was referring to Bistro Figliulo in the above post.
Sarasota...Disappointing new Italian Bistro Figliulo
We found the service to be quite good but you can't survive on service....the food mostly, was not very good....tasted and looked like it was prepared by a less than second rate chef..blech...will not return.
Sarasota- BELLAGIO-- on S. Washington
We did eat at Bellagio for the first time AND the LAST time! We were very disappointed..found it overpriced for what you got and the taste was just ok.
We were the only ones in the restaurant for the first hour we were there, then another 4 people arrived...we left at almost 8:00PM and no one else had come in.
Sarasota- BELLAGIO-- on S. Washington
Thank you for your response. :) I think we might make reservations and go to Bellagio for my birthday next week.
Sarasota- BELLAGIO-- on S. Washington
Anyone been to Bellagio? If so, could you please comment.....any good??......pricing??...do they have a website.??....I couldn't find one.
Thanks in advance.
La Nostra Pasta 1100 N Tuttle Sarasota
Decided to go for a Groupon deal and purchased a discount coupon for La Nostra Pasta. Having no expectations we went this past Friday for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The food was quite good and very moderately priced for what we got. The wait staff were very pleasant. The place has only been opened for a couple months. We definitely will return.
The proprietors also own the Peruvian Restaurant a couple doors away called El Patio Latino.
Sarasota Gold Dynasty Restaurant
We had a decent meal at Gold Dynasty this past Sunday evening...not great but certainly passable and wayyyy better than any other Chinese restaurant in Sarasota. There were a number of Asian diners there.....some from Ontario, Canada near where we live during the summer months.
Their lo bak go (sp) turnip cake is terrible though...tastes like fried flour rather than turnip and their nor mai gai (sp) sticky rice is delicious but doesn't have enough "stuff" inside the rice.....only a teeny piece of chicken and a teeny piece of mushroom.
Heading to Sarasota and outlying KEYS Dec 14-18th 2011..suggestions please
I completely agree about Phillippe Creek Oyster Bar...definitely a tourist place....sooooo busy all the time and very noisy...don't take reservations and I hate waiting a long time for a table. We just don't bother going there anymore.
Sarasota Gold Dynasty Restaurant
Glad to know it's still around. I think we might try it again for dinner this evening. We were there last season (snowbirds from Toronto) and thought the dim sum was just ok but were thankful that we were even able to have dim sum in Sarasota that was at least half way decent. Also authentic Chinese food that wasn't too bad either. I know it's definitely the best Chinese in Sarasota by far.
What are people's recommendations to eat from the "authentic" portion of the menu..
Also, does anyone know if their American style Chinese food is better than the other Sarasota Chinese restaurants, not just the usual ordinary crap.
Sarasota Gold Dynasty Restaurant
Is this place still open and if so is it still pretty good?
SARASOTA FL. Jimmys Sand Trap
Thanks, Irwin. I am so disappointed...was hoping for a new and decent deli...guess I will have to stick to TooJays.
SARASOTA FL. Jimmys Sand Trap
Anyone heard of or tried this place? I understand it is quite new...is a deli. I'm interested in knowing if the corned beef and pastrami sandwiches are anywhere near as good as New York or Montreal.
Pastrami's is gone and to me was only passable and TooJay's ain't great either...was hoping Jimmy's Sand Trap was the answer to a decent deli in Sarasota.
Jimmy's Sand Trap
Has anyone tried Jimmy's Sand Trap on Weber? If so, can you please rate the deli sandwiches...compared with New York or Montreal....better or worse than Pastrami's.
Thanks.
Shirin Kebab
Has anyone tried Shirin Kebab
1880 Eglington Avenue East #69 , Eglington & Pharmacy
Scarborough, Ont
and if so, how was it and how is their pricing?. There is an online menu www.shirinkebab.com but they don't list any prices.
Very tasty food - Raby's 66 Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Toronto
We had to wait a bit until we got our food so I'm assuming the kebabs are freshly prepared...don't know about the rice (I didn't see a steam table with rice in it or actually any other steam table at the time) but it was wonderful and not mushy...seemed to be fresh. Their naan is delicious.
Very tasty food - Raby's 66 Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Toronto
My husband and had lunch at Rabys a couple days ago and loved it. We had one of the specials...very reasonably priced. I can't recall the name but it was the beef kabob special with salad, rice and naan. It was a bit on the spicey side but delicious. I love that they put a pitcher of ice water on the table and that they have delivery service.
Esquire Great Eastern Hakka Style

I meant to say is...I guess that he just couldn't stand to ADMIT that someone in HIS establishment had or could make a mistake.
