Need a 25th Birthday Rec! Sunday Meal

I'll be celebrating my 25th birthday at the end of October, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any really good Sunday brunch, lunch, or early dinner places that would be good for a crowd (anywhere between 10 and 20 people) that won't break the bank. (I'm still a poor grad student.) I'm looking for some place in the Boston/North Shore area, and I'm very open. Right now my ideas are dim sum in Chinatown, All Seasons Table in Malden, and Mexico Lindo in Melrose.

Moving to Malden...?

All Seasons Table: Awesome pan-Asian, great atmosphere, and nice bar scene on the weekends. Mussels in Black Bean Sauce, tempura-style Calamari, Spicy Tuna App., True Love Maki, Caribbean Seaweed Salad are some of my favorites.
Tivoli's: Open Wed-Sat for dinner only but great, cozy Italian-French bistro
Fortune Corner: In Maplewood- Chinese food to-go. The staff are really nice, and I think it's a solid choice for Chinese to-go. (I like the fact that the kitchen is semi-open, so if you stand at the counter after you order you can watch them cook. It was here that I watched pork fried rice being made for the first time.)

King Crab Legs Boston/North Shore Area?

Does anybody know of a restaurant in the Boston/North Shore -ish area that has fairly reasonably priced King Crab Legs on their dinner menu? Thanks

All-You-Can-Eat Crab Legs?

Does anybody know of any places that are currently offering all-you-can-eat crab legs in the Boston/Greater Boston/North Shore area?

Best Seaweed Salad - Head to Malden

I just have to mention that All Seasons Table in Malden serves a fantastic seaweed salad, their "Caribbean Seaweed Salad." For less than $8 (+$3 for shrimp) you can get a HEAPING portion of seaweed salad, mixed with some bean sprouts, red bell peppers, and cucumber. It is so incredibly refreshing, particulary this time of year.

While I'm on the topic of All Seasons, their mussels in black bean sauce, with a delightful hint of tanginess, are fantastic with a small side of white rice to pour the extra black bean sauce onto.

All Seasons also has a great atmosphere, a wonderful owner who is almost always on site, and fun staff who will remember you. Love it!

Steak Tips

I second Newbridge Cafe and would add the White Horse Tavern in Allston on Wednesdays and Thursday with their $6 steak tips and fries all day and night. It's a bargain that is difficult to beat.

Groupon for Aegean Greek Restnt in Watertown

Yes, eventually we got someone else to get us some water, but that still took a while. It must have been a bad night, or just a sub-par server because I honestly have never experienced service anywhere near that in my life. I literally felt like I was on Candid Camera.

Groupon for Aegean Greek Restnt in Watertown

I've been there once, and although the food was good, the service was HORRIBLE. I can only speak for our server who came to the table only 3 times throughout the meal. I have never felt so neglected, as I sat there with empty water for at least 10 (probably closer to 20) minutes (and no, I am not exaggerating). I would probably give it another try if I lived closer, but whenever I think of that restaurantI think of the worst service I've ever experienced.

The New Del Frisco's

I've been there twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. At lunch, I simply had the tuna. Great piece of tuna, rare, and nicely seasoned. That being said, $26 for a tuna and no sides at lunch is a little steep (especially where you can go next door and get a similarly good hunk of tuna with a choice of two sides for a few bucks cheaper at Legal Harborside).
For dinner, the apps, entrees, and desserts were overall very good. The sides were nothing overly impressive, but I did thoroughly enjoy the calamari with sweet chili and the steak tartare apps. For my entree, I had a very nice filet mignon trio special (3 4 oz. pieces with 3 different sauces). Cooked perfectly, and awfully tasty. For dessert...OH MY LEMON LAYER CAKE. Though I ordered the chocolate mousse and it was nothing but delicious, but the several bites I enjoyed of my friend's lemon layer cake were unbelievable!!! (and I am not usually fond of citrus desserts).
In all, it's definitely a solid restaurant, but it can get a little pricey if you're footing the bill. If your off the hook for the bill, then you should have a very good meal. (Oh, and the view is great!)

Tivoli's in Malden - a Lovely Friday Night Dinner!

I checked out Tivoli's in Malden Friday night after hearing great things for a while, and I was not disappointed. Adorable little place with one server and one man in the kitchen, nice cozy ambience, and wonderful food at a great value. It had a French/Italian bistro feel. The menu wasn't huge, but it had some really delicious sounding choices, with a couple of pasta dishes and at least several seafood options. The bread was warm, crusty on the outside, and soft on the inside-just the way I like it. I started off with a great crock of french onion soup for only $5 and my companion had a delicious bowl of Portuguese seafood chowder. He opted for the chicken francesca in a delectable marsala wine sauce and with amazing, buttery rice. I had two appetizers for my entree-a nice portobello salad and escargot in puff pastry (though still with the traditional garlic butter, but a nice change from the standard presentation). With a bottle of wine, the total came to just $71 before tip, and we were stuffed to the brim. They are only open for dinner Wed-Sat, and we are definitely looking forward to going back. A great value for the flavors, ambience, and overall dining experience.

Friday night off North of Boston?

I have a *rare* friday night off tonight, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of good, fairly inexpensive places to eat, drink and/or just hang out just north of boston (preferably east of 93, anywhere from say peabody to downtown boston, though I would prefer not heading in to town if possible)
thanks

Chatters at Showcase Cinemas Revere...surprisingly yummy!

So I'll admit I go to the Revere movie theatre fairly frequently because it's near my house, but Ive been quite weary of Chatters, the bar/eatery, the have in there, until I tried it the other night. Went on this past weekend to see a movie, and we were 2 hours early for the showing, so we stopped in for a couple of drinks. The servers and bartenders are unique, to say the last, but it actually ended up being a munch better experience than I anticipated. The drinks are somehwat expensive, speciality cocktails are almost all priced at $9.50, but the food was priced reasonably. We had the Cap'n Crunch chicken app, served with a pleasant ranch dipping sauce, which had a hint of sweetness, from the cap'n crunch I surmise, a nice touch. The fried calamari was also quite nice, with a light batter, and fried, tangy banana peppers in the dish as well. It was topped with a balsamic drizzle, and a mixture of what seemed to be diced olives and peppers. We actually went to the movies, and Chatters, again the following night, ordering both dishes again. While there was a little less balsamic drizzle on the calamari, the chicken was even more delicious than the night before. I actually couldn't get enough of it!
Considering how much you pay for a popcorn, 5.25-6.75, a quick bite at Chatters before a movie may be a better option.

Also, the bartender let us try a piece of their Belvedere (yes we saw her open a bottle of Belvedere and pour it in the container)-soaked Pineapple, a small taste of boozey fruit heaven. :)

Dumplings in Somerville?

The Chinese Vegetable dumplings from Wang's rock my world! End of story

Fat Cactus Mexicali Cantina, Lynnfield MA

Done with the Border Cafe?! Have you tried the blackened chicken or blackened catfish (both of which are under $10)? Both are always delicious...I often opt for the seasoned veggies instead of rice and beans with and order a (free) side of the chipotle-lime dipping sauce that comes with the platanos for dipping.
You'd be hard pressed to find such a tasty sit down meal for a better price in the area.

Best Chinese outside of Chinatown?

All Seasons Table in Malden is my number 1 for Asian food outside of Chinatown...great lively atmosphere, beautiful decor, delicious food, and great drinks. Everything from there sushi bar apps to mango chicken and pad thai entrees are quite yummy!
Whether its for a nice dinner or fun night of drinks, All Seasons is always a great time!

Super late night dining in Boston?

Hey, I was wondering if anybody knew of good places to grab some food where a large crowd of people can congregate at like 3 AM or later in Boston on a Friday night??

Breakfast at Night...

Hey does anybody know where I can get super delicious breakfast food at dinner time in Boston? It can be anything from a greasy spoon to high end...it doesn't matter!
Thanks!

HELP! A Rare Friday off! Where to go?

So I actually have tomorrow night off from work, and Im looking for a delicious place to eat dinner. I can never think of anything off the top of my head ( i think its just because im so excited i overwhelm myself with ideas and then just cant focus at all ) My DC doesnt like to spend a TON of money when it comes to food, so I need recommendations on places that arent too pricey...Im thinking apps under 10, entrees in the teens if possible. Anywhere in boston, cambridge, somerville, or even up rt1 would work...And all cuisine types are welcome..oh and maybe some ideas on places to get dessert or insanely delectable ice cream later in the evening?! i thank u in advance for your help!

Fiddlehead fever

i noticed that today too! They went up to $7.99/lb! No fun but some pretty good samples at WF Medford today though...

Hot Bubble Tea?

As Luther said, Lollicup in the Kam Man marketplace in Quincy has a huuuuge variety of tea...hot ,cold, smoothie, with boba, lychee jelly, mango jelly, powder, fresh fruit...u name it, they have it...i LOVE LOLLICUP

Fiddlehead fever

Whole Foods, at least the one in Medford I know, has both fiddleheads and ramps...Fiddleheads are $5.99/lb, not sure about the price on ramps...

Boston chowhounder visiting ATL for 3 days...must eats?!

Hey everyone...I will be down in Atlanta in the near future on a Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and I was just wondering if anybody had any recs on places that are MUST EATS...whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night....any type of cuisine and all prices ranges are welcome!! Thanks!

What you drank at "Drink"

Last Word and a couple of slight variations on a Monkey Gland gin, grenadine, absinthe, and grapefruit (in place of orange) juice quite delicious!

Need hours open for dim sum Chinatown

2 thumbs up for winsor dim sum cafe....best dim sum in town and theyre open all day everyday for it

Good cheap lunch spot in Allston/Brighton or Charlestown?

I am looking for a good cheap lunch in either the allston/brighton area or charlestown? i know there are many ethnic options in the a/b area, but unfortunately my fellow diner isnt the most adventerous of eaters any ideas?
Thanks!

Surprising place to find Jordan Marsh-like blueberry muffin and great cupcakes too...

Bluecanoe at Irving stations are awesome. Not only are their bathrooms always impeccably clean, but they have great baked goods at fantastic bargains. For a while they were running a 2 for $2 on their whoopie pies which have a creamy yummy filling an incredibly moist chocolatey outer layer. Their cupcakes are also top notch, large, and far less than you will pay for at any cupcake shop!

What restaurants don't we talk about enough?

La Casa de Pedro in Watertown is great. Ive been there several times now, at lunch and dinner, and have had scrumptious meals each time. All entrees comes with some of the most delicious rice & beans, yucca frita, and plantains ive ever had. The cumpleanos de Pedro consists of flank steak, spanish chorizo, and Venezuelan black chorizo, and is amazing! I had the trout the other day, and it was quite nice, with a good amount of fried calamari on top as a nice little bonus. Entrees run from about $15-25 and are more than enough to fill you up. Their specialty drinks are between $10 and 13 or so and are also very tasty!

Desperate for great Chinese lunch in Boston proper

Winsor Dim Sum cafe is one of my favorite places to eat. Period. The fried shrimp balls are out of this world!

Need a guide to Chinatown bakeries

I definitely agree with Hing Shing...the pork and beef buns are both fabulous, as are the custards and custard buns...incredibly inexpensive and are always spot-on with flavor

Kingston Station

I went to Kingston Station a couple of Friday nights ago, and I had a fantastic meal. The Shrimp Scampi with Israeli couscous was out of this world, and the Steak Frites is one of the top 2 I have ever had (and very reasonably priced at $24 for a huge portion!) I don't usually like Salmon and would never order it out, but I was convinced and so happy I did. It was a nice thick fillet cooked to perfection, and the lime risotto that accompanied it was beyond delicious. Drinks were also great, specially the blood orange margarita and FIdel Castro!
I plan on returning in the very near future, and I am definitely trying the truffled frites appetizer next time!
