Portugalia or Atasca?? please help me choose
Casa Portugal on Cambridge st. is my favorite.
Summer 2009 openings and closings
i believe Benatti most likely has seen it's last meal. The sign on the window for the past couple of weeks has said "restaurant on vacation" with no date of reopening. I know the owner has it listed on Boston Restaurant Group, and it has been listed for quite a while.
Hot off the press replacement
I know the owner had a baby this summer and I heard there were some issues with the baby. It was listed on Boston Restaurant group site right after the baby was born.
Kolbeh of Kabob is open!!!
I drove by today and they have finally reopened after last years fire. So excited!! Same menu but new phone number 617 876 9400. Getting take out tonight.
website for benatti
you are correct.. Benatti is for sale already. I live around the corner and have never seen more than 8 people eating there at once and many a night you don't see anyone eating there. (no way they are doing 10k a week in sales) I'm surprised it have survived this long. Price point is just too high for the area.
Gandhi in Central Closing ..
Walked by today to see a sign in the window that said they were closing the restaurant and today would be the last day of operations. I know the restaurant has been for sale for quite some time. Just curious if anyone has heard if someone bought it or they finally just closed up shop. Heard some rumors...
Best burger in Boston ????? any successors to Tim's on Columbus Ave
The cantab kitchen is closed permantly. The owner is selling all the kitchen equipment too, to make space for more beer coolers.
All Star Sandwich Bar - two notes & a question
He applied a couple of months back to change the DBA of the business to "In Square Tap" and applied for an "All Alcohol licence" and increase in seating to 110 from 34. Not quite sure what came it though.
But, there is a sandwich shop for sale that "might" be ASSB on Boston Restaurant Groups website. Listing as follows: Cambridge, Sandwich Shop, B&W licence, 34 seats, 41,974 rent, $1,050,000 in sales, $340,000 price, Upscale neighborhood sandwich shop. Open 18 mo. Sales $20K wk.
new Italian Rest on cambridge st next to midwest
I live around the corner and walk by at least 3+ times a day. The menu finally went up yesterday. The entrees range from $22.00 - $37.00 with apps $11.00 - $18.00. Seems too high of a price point for Inman. I think they opened last night but no one was in there, so i'm not quite sure. I'll give it a try tonight, if I can figure out if they are open.
Suggestions on cooking classes?
Do not take classes at Cambridge Adult Ed. The instructors are terrible!! Take a class at Newbury College or at Cambridge Culinary, they are a million times better!
Best greasy egg & cheese sandwich
i have a small obsession with Hot off the Press and the $1.99 Morning Special..small coffee (the Ethopian coffee rocks and it's Equal Exchange.. luv it) and an egg and cheese on an english muffin. I eat it every morning walking to the train.
Are Weck Rolls suppose to be like bricks?
Yes, ASSB i am referring to. I have had it before and it was not like this. TERRIBLE!!!
Downtown Bistro, Lynn,MA
My husband and i had dinner there this past saturday and had a great experence. We are both big fans of the Navy Yard Bistro (same owner) and we figured we would try Downtown Bistro.
Zeppy's Bagels
Hot Off the Press in Cambridge has Zeppy's too. Great breakfast there too.
Central Square Lunch Spot?
had a really good cuban at Hot off the Press. i think they called it a Feisty Cuban. Also try Picante for mexican.
central square new eats
walked by Tavern on the square and what used to be "Wish". Looks like is is just a private function room now. Next door a new place is opening in the old "Pressed Sandwiches" space, the coming soon signs are up..
"Hot Off The Press"..?? anybody know anything about it??
All Star Sandwich's diet special
Just finished my soggy burnt Atomic Meatloaf and German Potato Salad(only ate one bite because the potatos were VERY under cooked),not impressed..This is the 4th time i have eaten there and i think maybe the last for a while, until they get their act together.
Not one of the sandwiches has yet to make me go WOW,especially for nine dollars!! My biggest complaint is the service, or may i say lack of. Thirty five minutes i waited for my sandwich (the woman at the register had told me 15 minutes)to top it off they forgot my chili and iced tea. AGH!!!!
There are much better sandwich places out there.
