Paso Robles - Panolivo / McPhee's?

Couldn't agree more with your review regarding Thomas Hill Organics as it pertained to the service. While friendly, it took painstakingly forever just to receive "brunch" orders (there were only two other tables in the restaurant, each with two people seated). The restaurant did not seem to be understaffed either (especially for a rainy Sunday morning). One of the people I was with joked that they must have all gotten 'high' before work, based on their mannerisms and lackadaisical work ethic (and this person is not a Type-A themself in the least bit, so it was funny). All in all it took us almost 2 full hours to finally get out of there and get on with wine tasting. Lastly, I myself didn't find the food to be anything to write home about (and especially not worth the two hours I spent there in the restaurant). I've decided they must have had to freshly slaughter the pig & cure the bacon in order to make my breakfast panini (oh wait, I ordered it without the bacon!). Who knows! Hope they get their service together - maybe most people go in their after wine tasting, so they don't notice the time warp.

Report on Mediteranean Cruise

WOW! Thank you for such a detailed report! I'm heaeding to Greece later this year so this will be really helpful! Thanks!

Lompoc and environs

How is Maggie’s Kitchen @ 910 North H St. in Lompoc? The local paper did a write up recently. Has anyone tried it yet? It sounds good, but I haven't made it there yet.

Here is the article from the newspaper (sorry if it's not ok to post, I wasn't sure?):

Tesco/Fresh and Easy Markets - Good?

Does anyone know if they are still planning to open in Orcutt (Santa Maria). There was a plan off of Bradley in 2008, but haven't seen anything since.

Lompoc and environs

Hmmm - Taco Laco - is that on Ocean? I haven't tried that... hmmm ...stomach growls =)

Firestone Grill or Mo's in San Luis Obispo?

Mo's is good but it doesn't standout from other BBQ places to me; so I'd go with Firestone, which does standout from other places serving the same type of food (unless you can make it to both somehow!).

Stopping in San Luis Obisbo for Lunch- Need Suggestions

Darn :( I hadn't realized it was even gone! Yes, the Tacos de is good! I can't keep up with all of the different places sometimes!

Where have all of the posts gone?

It must be that you can only get calamari in Cambria then - bummer :(

Reco for Wedding at Paso Robles Winery?

Try looking at local photographers blogs to see photos of wedding locations (then you can see actual weddings at the locations and see what you do/don't like) - list of photographers at ccwp.com ; also, one winery that comes to mind is Zeneida Cellars on highway 46 west. Happy planning!!!

Good Restaurants in Pismo?

Del's on Shell Beach Road (great pizza's and calzones and the rolls they give you with dinner are to die for - food doesn't come extremely fast so don't go if you are in a hurry... they don't make it until you order) - should be within walking distance of your hotel; to the north. Splash is good for typical chowder - the Jetty in Santa Maria or Lompoc has the best in my opinion. SeaVenture (Pismo) used to have abalone chowder which is delicious is they still serve it. There is a little breakfast place next to Alex's on Shell Beach Road - the names escapes me though.

Are you sticking to Pismo only? Oceano, Avila & Arroyo Grande all have some great places too. There is a Mama's Meatballs open in Oceano now. Yamato (sushi) in Grover Beach is a fun place in a strip mall/plaza, nothing fancy. I agree with toodie jane about the steakhouses... & going to the smaller FMC in AG if you do go. Chacho's (mexican) in Oceano is my favorite. If you go be nice to the ladies working in the tiny kitchen! =)

Lompoc and environs

If you're willing to drive into Santa Maria, Casa Manana on Broadway is very good!

What do you think of La Botte?

They expanded their outdoor seating (it is now the entire front of the little shopping area - the flower shop building is completely gone - it moved). I agree, it sounds like what you are looking for and if I'm not mistaken they have calamari on their menu that is excellent.

Country Culture Yogurt - try the Berry Berry!!!

You have to be talking about TA's (was there a 7-11 and a parking lot out the door?). I used to race there from SLO high school for lunch and make it back just in time...

Tesco/Fresh and Easy Markets - Good?

I loved them when we were in Europe last summer!!

Lunch near Citrus Heights

I think the name of the Japanese restaurant you're referring to is Mikuni's ?

breckenridge, CO - suggest 1 meal-this week

Wonderful - sounds perfect! I searched and had found a few of your previous postings =) Thank you for the detailed directions and for sharing!

Breakfast in Pismo

Custom House in Avila Beach is also good for breakfast. I would def. try to make a reservation if they'll take one for breakfast.

The best restaurants in SLO?

Gus's?

The best chowder IMO is by the Jetty. Splash is good but The Jetty makes Splash taste generic in comparison. Used to be in Avila but didn't re-open. They still are in Santa Maria and Lompoc though.

Also - for nachos, Cabo San Luis is pretty darn good!

breckenridge, CO - suggest 1 meal-this week

We're from coastal CA; plan to drive in to see Breckenridge for the day from Denver as long as weather permits later this week. Please recommend a LOCAL (NON-chain) place to eat - most likely lunch, but possibly dinner. Any type of food will do as long as it is a local favorite (if you're willing to share your secret!) and good. We don't need anything fancy, but can go either way for that matter. Thanks!! We won't be doing any physical activities unfortunately due to any injury, so a good meal and sightseeing will be the highlight for us =)

Orlando for business (where to eat near airport)?

I'll have a vehicle but would prefer to stay within 15 minutes of the airport. Any suggestions for good LOCAL places to eat (even though I'm asking for places near the airport)? I'll be in town from California. Thanks for your suggestions.

Great Breakfast near 101 in SLO-Atascadero-Paso Robles?

Del Monte Cafe off near the railroad station:

(805) 541-1901, 1901 Santa Barbara Street

Paso Bakeries: your favorites?

The Glenbrook Apple Farm:
Rt. 2, Box 194, Hwy 46 West, Templeton, CA 93465 (805) 238-3670 off of 46 west (Templeton) is a treat! Their creme loaf breads are a must as is their caramel for apples!

The best restaurants in SLO?

Chow Novo on Palm Street (same owner as Novo on So. Higuera which has been closed for retrofit).
