Falmouth, Ma. Decent Eats this Weekend

Try Heather Restaurant at South Cape Village in Mashpee. Very good cuisine in atmospheric surroundings including early bird prix-fixe.

Colatina Exit - (dinner) Italian fare in a charming old world atmosphere, casual dining.

Lyme, NH - Stella's Italian Kitchen (Main Street) lunch/dinner.

Norwich - The Tavern at Carpenter and Main - dinner from tavern menu (across from the Norwich Inn) on Main Street.
Sandwiches at Allechante Bakery - Main Street.
King Arthur Flour Co. - Rt. 5 - sandwiches on their home made bread plus other divine pastry items.

Near Nashoba Winery?

My only suggestion in the locale would be the Westford Regency.

Best restaurant between Burlington VT and Boston

I think the place in WRJ you're referring to is Tip Top Cafe. I had lunch there a few weeks ago. It has an eclectic atmosphere with good food.

Outdoor lunch dining

How about The Night Kitchen in Montague? Lovely outdoor dining overlooking the falls and above-average cuisine for the Pioneer Valley.

Upper Valley Restaurants: Carpenter & Main or Simon Pearce

My most recent experience was a few weeks ago in the Tavern. I had a
Wood Creek Farm, Bridport all-natural burger on homemade english muffin with an assortment of homemade condiments: tomato chutney, mustard relish and bernaise sauce accompanied by delicious crispy fries and a small garden salad consisting of shaved fennel, mushrooms, diced tomatoes, shallots and herb vinaigrette.

Strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Complimentary dates stuffed with almond paste, assorted olives, and other delightful nibbles at the bar.

Everything was delicious.

Upper Valley VT/NH Gems

Spent 4th of July weekend in West Fairlee, VT. Had a very nice pear salad with field greens, goat cheese, toasted hazelnuts, and honey-basil vinaigrette followed by a luscious strawberry shortcake with lemon poppyseed biscuit and iced tea while dining on the scenic outdoor patio overlooking the river at The Perfect Pear in Bradford. Dinner one night at Peyton Place in Orford, NH. Wine bottles filled with long tapers (approx. 1/2 dozen on each table) and an outdoor patio. Had panko coconut crusted sea scallops with julienned veggies and a berry dessert. They also make excellent martinis. Blackboard menu changes on a daily basis. Dinner another evening at Stone Soup in Strafford, VT. Reminiscent of a cottage in the Cotswolds with extensive gardens surrounding the restaurant with mountain views. You can have a cocktail in the gardens before being seated for dinner. I had wild salmon with fresh veggies, sauteed red onion and raspberry coriander vinaigrette followed by chocolate pecan pie. On another evening, had dinner in the Tavern at Carpenter and Main in Norwich.

If you are traveling through Newbury, VT I recommend The Newbury Village Store for sandwiches. You can take them across the street and sit on a bench at the spacious and scenic Common.

All of our dining experiences were outstanding.

The Norwich Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is very worthwhile with over 50 vendors.

Lots of farms will have raspberry picking starting next week.

The Chapoquoit Grill is very popular. It's on Rt. 28A in West Falmouth -- check out their daily specials. In addition, in Mashpee, Restaurant Heather. Both have web sites with current menus.

Richard's Bistro new chef formerly Baldwin's on Elm?

We had dinner at Richard's on Sunday. We noticed that the bistro salad which previously accompanied the entrees no longer does. There is now an additional $8 charge. When ordered separately, the size of the salad was noticeably smaller than it was when it accompanied the entree! The new entree: trout stuffed with crabmeat and topped with horseradish foam was disappointing in that the taste of horseradish overwhelmed the trout and the accompanying shoestring fries had a strange "fryer" taste. It was served along with asparagus spears. The components of this entree are not satisfying. Compared to our previous stellar experiences this past dinner was disappointing. With entrees in the $26-35 range, we will not hurry back.

Good Meal at the Biltmore

I sat at the bar for a cocktail and a salad last Thursday night. Had the pear, roasted beets, bacon salad with mesclun green. The pears were rock hard. They were inedible. The dressing tasted like drizzled bacon fat. A few work colleagues went for lunch and everyone was unimpressed.
