Seeking steak in Wilmington, DE

I like the Lone Star restaurant on Concord Pike (in the restaurant row including Olve Garden, Famous Dave's BBQ, TGI Fridays, and Red Lobster). Lone Star is not fancy but their Filet Mignon is delicious. Service is usually very good also - just make sure you are seated upstairs and not near the bar or next to the kitchen.) I usually order my Filet Mignon medium with bacon wrapped around it. It is charbroiled over a flame and I order it with a blue cheese iceberg lettuce wedge, and steak fries. The whole thing will set you back about $20 (including a beverage), so it is really a bargain!

Another place is Outback just over the Pennsylvania border on Concord Pike. Prices are higher but the quality is higher. Lone Star is still delicious and both of these restaurants are more reasonable than Sullivan's or Harry's Savoy (formerly The Admiral's Inn). I never heard of Domain Hudson or Firebird's.

Wilmington, DE Chinese--a winner!

Shang Hai appears to be gone as I also drove by their old location a few days ago and the building appears to be gone! The link on delawareonline does not work so I guess they do not keep old stories online for very long. Does anyone know of another good Chinese or Thai restaurant in the Northern Wilmington area?

Is the "Shang Hai" restaurant the one on Philadelphia Pike in Claymont? It looks terrible from the outside. Also, there is little or no parking.

I need to find an exception Chinese restaurant. I used to live in Dallas where there are many different kinds of eateries. I know about the "P.F. Chang's" on Rt. 1 in Pennsylvania but that is too far to travel for a meal.

Any comments will be appreciated.

Won't give me water with my meal???

A "Subway" restaurant here in Wilmington, Delaware, tried to charge me 40 cents for a cup of water a few months ago. I was prepared to buy a sub sandwich, but when I heard the news, I got up and left. They don't even offer bottled water. I had been a customer since the 60's but never again. Besides, there are much better sub shops around here than "Subway"!

Chinese cruisine in Northern Delaware

Thank you, travelmad478, I will try Shang Hai at 2815 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont soon. Seems like I heard about this place a year or two ago but never could find it. I will try again.

I agree with you about China Royal (Marsh Rd. just north of Silverside). It does seem to be "run of the mill".

Re: Pappy's Pizza

Does anyone remember "Pappy's Pizza" on Concord Pike in North Wilmington, Delaware? I believe they shut down in the late 70's or early 80's. They had a unique taste - very delicious. I have not been able to duplicate it since.

If anyone knows if "Pappy's Pizza" still exists at another location, please post here. Thanks, in advance.

Chinese cruisine in Northern Delaware

Can anyone recommend an excellent Chinese restaurant in Northern Delaware (i.e. Brandywine Hundred, Claymont areas)? I am familiar with P.F.Chang's China Bistro on Rt. 1 but that is too far. Thanks, in advance.
