Itinerary help/EMP question
OP said she had a reservation for Marea for Sun lunch. Why is no one endorsing keeping the Marea reservation?
Marea, Anissa or Union Street Cafe for Sunday dinner?
Thanks again for all of your thoughts. Seems it comes down to Marea or Annisa - but what if we throw Ai Fiori into the mix? Does that chane anything? Which of those 3 would you choose (remembering we are looking at a Sunday night, assuming that makes any difference!)
name 5 overrated, or over hyped or famous restaurants whose food doesn't live up to reputation
I am disappointed to hear this about Marea. Can you describe what went wrong?
Marea, Anissa or Union Street Cafe for Sunday dinner?
LI,
Thanks for the post. Would you suggest Annisa instead or somewhere else?
Marea, Anissa or Union Street Cafe for Sunday dinner?
Thanks for the responses. Surprised to hear that Marea seafood main dishes are only so-so. Anyone else want to weigh in?
Marea, Anissa or Union Street Cafe for Sunday dinner?
Friends have offered to take us out. We are considering one of these three (please, no other suggestions). Two of us do not eat meat but do eat fish/seafood. Cost is not the issue. Looking for a comfortable dinner out when we are visiting NYC. Other dinners already booked for this visit include Esca & Craft. Any opinions much appreciated.
Suggestions for a weekend near Toronto
What about the Little Inn of Bayfield in Bayfield on Lake Huron? Very pretty small town, Little Inn has a great restaurant and spa, and some other good restaurants on "the strip". Also, great sunsets on Lake Huron.
Apizz or Da Andrea or other?
Thanks for all the suggestions, particularly the recommendations for a non-meat eater. Reserved at Esca (which we have been to before and love), and will definitely look into Marea. Any other suggestions much appreciated.
Apizz or Da Andrea or other?
Thanks very much for the help. Would you also suggest Maialino or Osteria Morini if we could get in (of course, not all in the same trip!)
Apizz or Da Andrea or other?
In NYC for 4 nights. Already have a reservation for Mas (farmhouse) for one night and am trying to figure out the others. I have searched the Manhattan Board for weeks, but still trying to figure out choices. I don't eat meat, so thought one night of italian would be good. Have been to Babbo, Lupa, Scarpetta, but looking for something we haven't tried yet. Anything with seafood would also be good. Price is not the issue, just good food with veg friendly options for me. Suggestions?
Recommendations for Brockville, ONT.
The Buell Street Bistro is very good. Also heard good things about The Mill - I didn't love it, but others in our party really enjoyed it.
Tonight Indian Delivery/Take Out - Leslieville (AND NOT AMAYA)
Siiddhartha (on Gerrard) delivers and the food always seems very fresh.
Not too loud please
Lately many of the new places that we have tried have had good food, but the noise level forces us to yell if we are out with friends and want to talk to them. So...looking for a place with good food, not too noisy. Would anything on Harbord fit the bill? Any help much appreciated.
Looking for Indian Food Delivery - Coxwell & Cosburn area???
Try Siddhartha on Gerrard. The food is good, it travels well and they deliver. - www.thesiddhartha.com
Montreal type bagels in Toronto
Bagel House bagels are truly the best Montreal style bagels in Toronto - and if you live in the east end, they are now they are available fresh at a new place on Queen St. East callled Naturalis.
Christmas dinner for a solo chowhound? Recomendations?
Try the Open Table website for Toronto. Instead of choosing the restaurant first, choose the date and time that you want to go, and a list of restaraunts that are open will come up.
The very best the city has to offer
What about a table for 2 along the window at Scaramouche? Always lovely, no matter what time of year.
Best Christmas brunch
Three Toronto chowhounds in New York City for Xmas. Looking for some great ideas for brunch on Christmas Day. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
favourite ice cream or gelato flavours and where to get them 2009
MUST TRY...raspberry and white chocolate ice cream at Ed's. Sounds too sweet, but it is not. Best flavour by far!
Reasonably priced Italian restaurant with great food. Ideas?
Lately a number of the Italian restaurants that have been recommended to us as reasonably priced and good have been only so-so. Grano was good one night, disappointing another. The last time we were at Zuca they got our order wrong and the food was only meh, so we haven't been back. This weekend we were at Setto Mezzo; the service was poor and again the food was only so-so at best. We like Gio Rana's, but are looking for some other reasonably priced, not too loud, Italian places with great food. Will travel if necessary so any suggestions much appreciated.
Where is Mr. Chestnut?
After the article about "Mr. Chestnut" and his van appeared in the Toronto Star, we went right down to the Beach on a Saturday to try a bag. They were wonderful. But since then we have been trying to find him without success. The Star article gave the following times and places:
"If you crave some, you're likely to find the Mr. Chestnut van in these locations:
Koreatown (Bloor St. W., east of Christie St.), Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 2 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Beach (Queen St. E. at Kew Gardens Park), Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
North York (Yonge St. at Spring Garden Ave.), Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m."
Has anyone seen him lately in the Beach or elsewhere? If so, where and when?
Bagel World in the Beach - Coming Soon
If you like New York style bagels (salty, not sweet), then I would say they have great bagels. In my opinion, some of the best in the city.
Bagel World in the Beach - Coming Soon
Just out for a walk on Queen Street and noticed new signs where the Ben & Jerry's used to be...Bagel World is coming to the Beach! Signs just say "coming soon", but this is definitely very good news.
Seafood - Aquagrill or Ocean Grill or other
Went to Aquagrill last weekend when we were in New York. The food was "okay" but definitely not great. As suggested by others on this Board, we stuck to the specials, but the shrimp ceviche (in soy and trufffle oil) was too soft and almost muc\shy, and the snow crab claws were tasteless. The service was certainly enthusiastic, but overall we were disappointed.
Best Rugelach in GTA
Try Phipps on Eglinton. The rugelach are great, although it is not a kosher bakery.
