Weekend in Toronto: Dinner, Brunch, Dim sum? Thanks! We are actually all from NY, so we'll pass on Momofuku. Beast and Black Hoof sound like a good options and we don't mind walking, so long as it's not *too cold* Any other brunch or lunch recommendations? |

Weekend in Toronto: Dinner, Brunch, Dim sum? We are definitely willing to travel, especially if the neighborhood we head to is worth staying in. Caught the episode of the Layover and were considering the Black Hoof or Beast, do you recommend those places and can you get reservations? Are there bars nearby? |

Weekend in Toronto: Dinner, Brunch, Dim sum? Coming to Toronto in a few weeks for a girls weekend trip and looking for some advice on where to eat. We are staying at Le Germain and are looking for places for dinners, a brunch or two and hopefully dim sum. Any recommendations? We are all adventurous eaters and open to almost anything as long as it's fun. I would also appreciate any recs for places to drink before or after dinners, or even just neighborhoods to check out. Thanks! |

Meat CSA/Farm Share/Club in New York? Thanks for the info! I don't remember anyone talking about meat through sStoneledge at our location but I will look into it. I'll also ask around about the Piggery one. |

Meat CSA/Farm Share/Club in New York? This year, we did our first vegetable/fruit CSA through Stoneledge Farm and loved it and are interested in doing something similar for meats. I'm having trouble finding information about clubs or CSAs that are operating in New York City, does anyone know of people who could hook us up or have had experiences with a group? Thanks! |

That's interesting, I didn't know there were different seating areas for reservations. We actually had to cancel (baby with a cold :( ) so maybe we will try to walk another night in if we can get a babysitter. |

Thanks for the Spoon recommendations...we actually LOVE Spak Bros, but not for the pizza. The subs are great, the wings are really great and the salads are actually pretty good too. The pizza was so-so. |

Thank you for all the suggestions! We are actually moving (back) to New York, but these are some great suggestions! We've been to Tamari, Tram's, Tessaro's, and Rose Tea but will definitely try the O and the Oyster House. We have reservations at Salt of the Earth for our wedding anniversary...any recommended dishes? Also, not to start a whole other debate, but where do you go for the best pizza in PGH? ----- Tessaro's Restaurant |

When do PGH farmers markets open? Is the East Liberty one the in the parking lot on Mondays? Or the indoor market? |

Hi! My husband and I will be moving away from Pittsburgh in a few months after a year of living here. We've been able to experience a lot of great Pittsburgh eats...Primanti's, Pamelas, Deluca's, etc. but want to make sure we're not missing anything before we head out. Where should we go and what should we eat? Is there a best place for pierogies and a fish sandwich? We live in Lawrenceville and have a baby, so nothing too far afield and anything open at lunch is better than dinnertime (since it's also the baby's bedtime.) Thanks! ----- |

When do PGH farmers markets open? So, I have a baby just starting solids and I'm dying to make her some baby food with local produce. When do the farmers markets open in and around Pittsburgh? |

We hate Honey Cake - Need New Ideas I hate honey cake too! Second only to teiglach in gross Jewish desserts. I have made the Smitten Kitchen apple cake to rave reviews (bonus, it is great for breakfast the next few days too) or an apple crisp. |

Best Food Markets in the Strip? Thanks so much for all the advice! We've definitely made to the Farmers @ Firehouse lately and have loved the produce there as well as buying a lot of the stuff from Penn Mac. I'll try the other markets mentioned here shortly. Also, is there a preferred restaurant supply store that is open to the public? I need a few utensils... |

Best Food Markets in the Strip? Hello, We've recently relocated to Pittsburgh and we love going food shopping down in the Strip. My question is really whether people have preferences for one market over another for the same stuff? Like: Wholey's vs. Benkovitz? Or which Asian market is the best? Or are they just better for different types of foods? Also, very much looking forward to the opening of the Public Market in a few weeks! |

Hello, I'm looking for a nice venue to host a lunch or tea for a baby shower in early August. I'm guessing there will be about 30-40 people, probably towards the lower end. Any suggestions? Good desserts would be a plus! |

Lunches to-go near convention ctr? Hi, I'm actually going to be in town during the same time for the same convention, but I'll be working and have extremely limited time. To add an additional layer of complication, I'm pregnant. I've never been to NOLA and want to make sure I get at least a few good things to eat. I'm considering pushing for a quick trip to Cafe du Monde for beignets, but we will do one nice dinner out with our group and would love some suggestions. Are there po'boys without deli meats? I would love to try one, but can't have deli. Where is the best spot? |

Please let us know...I was planning on going for our anniversary this week! |

Went last night and was served well by the toasted marshmallow. Husband had the black and white, but it's not quite right. The chocolate is a little too thick. A classic B&W uses the syrup swirled in and goes up the straw easily. Don't get me wrong, they were both excellent though. |
|
|
Oh, is the black and white good? I do love a B&W, but most places don't do it right. I'll definitely check out the ones at BGR too. |

I'm having a serious milkshake craving and don't want to waste my time on lesser quality stuff. I'm already considering Good Stuff Eatery (the toasted marshmallow) or Z burger in Tenleytown, but I'm open to suggestions...where's the best? ----- |

Road Trip from NY to Pittsburgh: Need Recs along the Way Hello, We are road tripping from NY to Pittsburgh in a week or so and will need to stop at least once, maybe twice along the way. Are there any cute towns or great road food to stop for? I'd rather not detour into Philly if possible. |

Hi! My family is heading to Esperanza in Cabo for a week and we are looking for some good places to eat. We will have a villa, so most nights, we expect to be able to cook and we have reservations at two places for nicer dinners with friends who are also there. Specifically, I'd love to know the best places for great tacos or another quick and great lunch. My parents spent a few years living in Mexico and speak Spanish and none of us are picky about location. Thanks! |

Sufganiot (aka jelly donuts) in WDC? The ones from Kosher Mart are pretty good, a coworker brought them in last year. |

I saw on Daily Candy that the long awaited G Street Food from Marc Furstenberg (Breadline) is open this week! Since it's a little trek for me from Rosslyn, I want to be sure it's worth it. Has anyone been? I'm dying for a banh mi if it's actually good! |

Recipe for Hot Pepper Jelly and Hot sauce Hi! My husband has been growing chile peppers all summer and is getting ready to harvest them. I've been experimenting with jams and would love to make a hot pepper jelly but most of the recipes I see use commercial pectin, does anyone know of a recipe that uses the apple pectin instead? Also, we are planning on making hot sauce, any good recipes for that? |

Crisp & Juicy coming to Tenleytown I heard that it's open!! Has anyone been? Does it stack up to the branches in the suburbs? |

Visiting PGH this weekend, need help! Just back from PGH and had a great time! Got to see a lot of Shadyside and Squirrel Hill, met friends for a drink at Kaya which was fun and the food looked great, then on their recommendation, we went to Point Brugge Cafe for dinner which was really good. This morning we got coffee at A Mano espresso in Lawrenceville and then got brunch at Pamela's in the Strip. Everything was great, I saw a lot of the places you all suggested and I can't wait to try them all out when we move! As for living, we actually really liked the Strip and the parts of Shadyside closer to Ellsworth. Thanks again for all the help! |

Visiting PGH this weekend, need help! Thanks again for all the suggestions! I'll follow up and let you know where we go. As for neighborhoods, I wouldn't mind something a little grittier than Georgetown, but Adams Morgan is really a huge cluster nowadays. For all the DC people, is Lawrenceville more like Columbia Heights? It certainly sounds like we are not lacking for options, and since we have so much time before we move, we'll be taking several trips to check everything out! |

Visiting PGH this weekend, need help! Thank you all for the suggestions! It sounds like we have lots to choose from!! Panini Guy, thanks for the DC comparison! Which neighborhood is more comparable to which though? We actually live near Georgetown, so that is more our speed. I would love something that is residential, but close to shops and restaurants, maybe even walkable? Are we missing a neighborhood that might meet our needs? |
