Jersey Shore Food Truck Wars
I work in NYC and eat at many of these trucks. You typically wait minimum 20 - 45 minutes especially during the peak lunch rush. This event sounds like a great idea but sounds like they need to double or triple the # of trucks.

A nice article from nj.com. Sounds good. Hope to give it a try. Nothing about this place except this thread on chowhound.
Foie Gras Ban?
http://blog.dartagnan.com/2012/05/01/let-your-foie-flag-fly/
I don't eat it often and probably could care less if I had it again. But IMHO, certainly a slippery slope to to start banning certain foods.
Doris & Ed's Closed
Maybe I am off on this but didn’t the original Doris and Ed sell several years back and then open a smaller place, name alludes me right now, trattoria something across from Grimaldi's in the highlands?
Italian Pork Store Bella Italia in Spotswood/Monroe
Livotti's is in Matawan. I think the service at Carluccio's is horrific, but you can't beat $1.99 a lb chicken cutlets.
Italian Pork Store Bella Italia in Spotswood/Monroe
Kind of surprised to hear that. My experience there was always good and IMHOone of the better pork stores in the area for my meats for Sunday sauce. A little out of the way for me so we tend to goto livotti's. Not sure who you spoke too, but the older gray haired man who I believe was an owner was always professional and helpful. Unacceptable to say the least.
Korean Tacos
If this is anything like the korilla or kimchi taco trucksxin NYC we are in for a treat.
For those wondering what Korean tacos are check out the examples in the below links, trust me pretty addicative stuff

Krispy Pizza, Freehold & Old Bridge
Sorry to hear that. I frequent the 516 location and am pretty fond of the thin crust square Grandmas, round fresh mozz pie, and thier Sicilian pie ispretty good. Now were not talking Denino's, but a good piazza joint. Their other dishes are mediocre standard pizzeria fare.
Soft Shell Crabs - in March?
Mushrooms really? Never thought to add this to my Jersey garden. Any tips? Sorry to go off topic from the op
Tips on tipping - pleeease [moved from Manhattan board}
I normally don't follow the tipping threads. This one caught my attention. Born and raised in NYC, tipping is second nature to me. I tend to tip 20-25% at my regular places and tend to receive above average and much appreciated great service. I err on the side of genorousity. If I eat a $150 meal and were to tip $30, another $8 is not going to break my bank and chances are the server really appreciates the gesture.
On another note, I recently traveled to Aruba where some places added 15% and others left it to your discretion. I must admit, I was a little annoyed. I prefer to decide on the tip instead of having a certain % forced on the bill. This probably owrks out better for the servers because without the added surcharge, more often then not they would probably get stiffed.
I never ate in a place in NYC that added gratuity. Presumably if a restaurant in NYC is adding gratuity automatically I would catergorize this as a tourist trap that a true hound should avoid. Perhaps the only exception is when you have a larger party of 8 or more diners. That ie the only situation where I have seen gratuity added in NYC.
Drew's Bayshore Bistro, Keyport
Read via Facebook. They have soft shell crabs this weekend!

I hate valeting my car. I prefer to park my car in one spot far out of harms way. When that is not an option my sports car stays home in the safety of my garage. We take my wife's car and tip $5 on the way in and a couple of $ on the way out. I always prefer parking my own. Valeting really irks me.
Whole Foods Market coming to Marlboro???
Weren't we also expecting a trader joe's in that area too or was that just a rumor?
Foie Gras in Old Bridge!?! New "JUST Restaurant" opens on Route 9
Thanks for the link. Good friends of mine went a couple of days after the big launch. They had positive things to say about the food and cocktails. However, like when I went, it was not very crowded. Hopefully word gets out, I love having this place so close to home.
Where is the best cannoli in Monmouth County?
What a disappointment. I will stick with the fresh mozz.
Looking for really good Chicago style deep dish pizza in Jersey
The closest and best I have had in NJ is by ordering Lou Malnati's online and making it at home. It does the job, but still mkt better than having it there
NJ 2012 James Beard Semi Finalists
2 of 3 are in Monmouth County, lucky me. Congrats and good luck!

Where is the best cannoli in Monmouth County?

Just saw on Facebook that their Website is up and running. Pics of many of their beautifully presented dishes. They also mention that they plan on launching an afterhours lounge. I interpret that as a night club. IMHO I say do one thing and do it well, fine dining or nightclub. You seldom see an establishment do both wothout one of the options suffering. Either way I wish them well. This is in my backyard so a nice option to have without having to schelp to a NYC or further south.
Where is the best cannoli in Monmouth County?
Glad you liked it. Not to get off topic from the OP, but I also love their meat. Picked up some beautiful rib eye steaks. 4 for roughly $15. I love Wegmans rib eyes but they tend to be twice as thick and more than double the price. I really don't need to regularily eat a steak that thick. So Livolatis rib eyes are perfect for our bi-weekly steak night. I will get Wegmans for the more special and more indulgent occasions.
Restaurants in Parlin
Sign says sit in, Togo, shakes ice cream, bubble tea and some other stuff that eludes me now.
Can anyone identify this Kitchenaid mixer accessory, please?
Taking a guess, looks like a pasta attachment, maybe to make tube pasta like penne?
Looking to discover TriBeCa restaurants
For beer, micro brews and a good sandwich I reccomend the Tribecca TapHouse. The grilled cheese with gouda and short ribs, the bratwurst, gruyere and saukruat, and a good ole burger are great.

Foie Gras in Old Bridge!?! New "JUST Restaurant" opens on Route 9
Thank you RGR. I was a little puzzled by their comments regarding the soft opening. I may have misinterpreted but I think they are relying on word of mouth until they are comfortable and worked out some kinks. Not sure what to make of that statement. Time will tell. I do know they are reading these posts and appreciate feed back.
Foie Gras in Old Bridge!?! New "JUST Restaurant" opens on Route 9
Thanks for the kind words.
One other comment, the soup was very tasty with notes of thyme too. The Duck dish had bits of pomegranate too. The menu had flavors that were very late fall early winter. I would guess that the menu will change seasonally.
One correction , meant Pinot Grigio, not Pinot Frigid!....damn spell check
Where is the best cannoli in Monmouth County?
My wife just got back from there with no Cannoli! She didn't see them. I will have tp relay the message. She did come home with warm fress mozz which no longer exists, we ate the whole thing......But hey it's the weekend
Great food in Old Bridge/Sayreville/Marlboro area?? Recs please!!!
