nice and even perhaps upscale near Broadway theaters
Try Esca over on 43rd and 9nth-- small, killer seafood, and the first place to start offering "Crudo" Pasternak and Dean (the partners who are always there) know their stuff... I have eaten there dozens of times and have never been disappointed
One Month Chowing Through NYC
I would do Esca as a splurge, David Pasternak is doing some killer food there still
Gramercy Tavern
I loved the quote from Tom in the times about "I've decided that I need to focus all my time and energy on the craft concept," chef coliccio said from the 14th hole of the Liberty Golf Club just outside of Liberty, New Jersey.
He isn't spending all his time at his Crafts anymore than he was at GT
Just moved to the UES - Need some restaurant suggestions...
Try David Copperfields for burgers and beer (York Ave and 79th methinks). For Italian (sorry, they don't really do red sauce) try Spigolo. Heather and Scott both have USHG pedigrees before opening up their great little shoebox of a joint on 2nd and 81.
Batali vs Flay
Batali is better than Flay, but Mario definitely has a nose for getting great chefs into his kitchens (see Esca with David Pasternak, Spotted Pig with April).
Roth Steakhouse on UWS
Eddie Kleefield is about reopen the former Jean Luc as Mumbo Gumbo, if it is like his joint by the same name in Sag Harbor, it will be decent Creole/Cajun with very lax service.
burgers, burgers everywhere burgers!
Blue 9 offers a really good burger at a decent price
