LAS VEGAS RIBS
I've gotta put a vote in for Memphis BBQ's baby backs. I've eaten them no less than 30-40 times, and have never been disappointed. They are smoke-kissed pink, they kinda 'crumble' apart bone by bone, and the meat comes off with a gentle 'tug' when you bite them. Yes, Mike Mills is a MIM grand winner. I've had ribs at every other place in town; except for a new place called Buzz (I think) on Ann Road, in the NW. And Memphis beats Lucilles, TCs, K's, Dave's, Buckinghams every time... IMHO.
Las Vegas Best place for "special" sushi rolls?
Dragonfly. A Japanese izakaya joint on Paradise.
Anything great close to JWMarriott in Vegas?
Z' Tejas (TexMex), Nora's (wine/Italian), Vintner Grill (continental, classy), Agave (upscale Mexican), Grape Street (wine/Ital), Hannah's (sushi/fish), Bertolini's (Ital), Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe (gyros, fasejan, hookahs!), Pin Kaow (Thai), Roy's (Hawaiian/fish), Becker's Steak House (steak). And I've probably saved the best for last: Rosemary's would only be a $10-15 cab ride from JW.
Las Vegas Trip Report (Part 3) -- Penang Malaysian, Champion Foods, and SF Supermarket
I've never eaten the prepped food at SF, but it's a great place to shop. The fish, shellfish, and meat are so fresh and even cheaper than my local Smith's. Also a great selection of all asian foodstuffs. I think it's cleaner and nicer than the 99 Market.
Good Japanese places, NOT on the Vegas Strip.
DRAGONFLY: Have you tried this place yet? Newly opened, same owners as the popular Firefly (tapas) next door. I ate lunch there last week, and loved it. An 'izakaya' style joint; Japanese pub style food. Started with a sushi roll, "dragonfire", I think. Shrimp tempura, avocado, and topped with tuna. Delish. Then I had an orange noodle dish w/pork. Excellent also. My partner had a $10 lunch bento box. A hearty miso soup with 'shrooms and seaweed started her meal, and then a beef/rice/salad/cali roll combo for the bento part of the meal. It was all great. They do happy hour sushi and beers in the afternoon. Will go back very soon for dinner. It's located in the small shopping center on Paradise, just north of Flamingo. Excellent.
viaggio's las vegas?
A solid choice, was last there on New Year's Eve. As you suggest, great views of the LV valley. A million miles, well about 15 anyway, from MGM... near Anthem. Good pasta selections, and a decent choice of wines. Not a "best meal of my life" kinda place, but put it this way: if I lived closer, I'd go there once a month or so.... Hope this helps.
Cafe BaBaReeba Las Vegas
I agree on the ppl watching comment, but I'd rather hang with locals than touristas. And I still think FF's food is much better, I've eaten there at least 15 times. Including the bacon wrapped dates!
Have you been to DragonFly yet? I'm planning lunch there, today....
Cafe BaBaReeba Las Vegas
I wouldn't waste my time at BaBa, when Firefly is just a mile or so away, on Paradise. It's not a chain, and much more authentic tapas, better sangria/mojitos. They've recently opened a sister restaurant, Dragonfly in the same shopping plaza; it's a Japanese tapas/pub food place (izakaya). Haven't been yet, but if it's anywhere as good as Firefly, it'll be a winner.
Vegas Bars Serving Real Drinks
McCormick & Schmick on Paradise; Triple George/Sidebar downtown.
Vegas Eats Near Mandalay Bay?
Panevino, Table 34, Memphis Championship BBQ, Bootlegger.
Vintner Grill--LV, NV
Went for the first time last night; very good. The latest addition to the growing Corrigan dining/lounge empire (Sedona, Roadrunners, Kennedy) a beautiful room adorned with green curtains and walls, and plenty of white wood. Hidden in a Summerlin business park (Charleston/Hualapai) the menu is pretty bistro-ish and new American. A wood fired oven produces yummy looking flatbreads; but the bulk of the short menu is fish, beef and pastas. I had a piece of Florida snapper with cauliflower puree; fingerling spuds and heirloom tomotoes. Perfect. GF's halibut with couscous with similar; crunchy exterior on the fish, but moist throughout. Her salad (greens, balsamic) was average; save for the baked chunk of brie.... and my white bean, sausage and escarole soup was great winter eating. We had a couple glasses of wine; and dessert. A trio of creme brulee (vanilla bean, banana, and chocolate) served in espresso cups was cool, and delish.
Tough to get a reso on the weekend; and yes (unfortunately) the perfunctory video poker machines line much of the open bar area. All in all a hit; and a great addition to the area dining scene.
