Chicken Kiev bursting butter all over the wild rice, followed by chocolate mousse. I was, like, 9, and it was my first food eureka.
My current drink of choice:
The war wages between a nectar-of-the-gods Gruner Veltliner and cappucino from my new machine. Fortunately they map to different times of day.
I really wish I could:
get hungry faster.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Filet mignon with wild mushroom red wine cream sauce. Predictable, yes, and safe, but why not give the people what they want?
My favorite comfort food:
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Rockenwagner in Santa Monica, which makes a girl weep for living in NoCal, Michael Mina in San Francisco if your palate is sharp and your stomach capacious, Tofu House in Mountain View when you need a hot spicy soft pillow, and I'll leave the last two blank for my upcoming trip to Italy.
My most tattered cookbooks:
Wofgang Puck's first, Silver Palate Good Times (so 80s, so rich, so delish), Julia Child's Way to Cook, Greens, my own Feng Shui Cookbook.
