Good Vietnamese in Jax?

I have only recently discovered Vietnamese cuisine during a trip to Orlando and had to have more. I have only found 1 place in Jacksonville so far… Pho Cali. This restaurant is off of University Blvd. near I-95 on Roberts St. (I believe). It is next to the Ramada, so look for the Ramada sign as a point of reference. I have only tried the Pho so far and found it to be delicious. When I was there the majority of diners were Vietnamese so I took this a good sign. Their phone # 904-730-7333.

St. Augustine-Please Help :)

For Pizza I personally like Borrillos Pizza & Subs on 88 San Marco Ave. a very small place so if you are a large group you might consider take-out. Bar with live music= Mill Top Tavern on St. George st. if you can catch Sam Pacetti he plays a mean guitar.

Jacksonville DimSum

We went to Hong Kong Bistro yesterday- Saturday, they do dim sum Sat. & Sun. from 11am to 2pm. We were pleasantly surprised, the shu mai was not as good as I have had, but all in all it was very authentic. The staff there was extremely helpful and friendly and the variety of dim sum was pretty good. The price was $3.00 per dish, so we got pretty full for under $20. We got there right at 11am and they were slow to get started, but by the time we left at noon the restaurant was full (all Orientals) and new dishes were rapidly coming out of the kitchen. They do not have cart service but the waitresses have several dishes on a tray and bring them around to each table, I like this over ordering off a menu- I like to see what I’m getting. I hope the J-ville hounds will give this place a try so we can continue to have dim sum in JAX.

Thank you for rechecking the lay of the land, that was very nice of you. I stumbled over a personal web site and this guy was singing the high praises of a place called WORLD BEAT CAFÉ, they do tapas. I went to their web site and the items were interesting, are you familiar with this place and is it worth considering. Thanks again

5-10 minutes off 95 if going to someplace that hold a little more than the big chains you say are at this exit... nothing too heavy thats why I thought Asian Too might be good, so is there any good chinese or thai or vietnamese restaurants around. also I am traveling on a Sunday and I know alot of non chain places are closed. Thanks for your help

I am looking for either one... saw this list on the net "Best of Brevard 2006" and there was a place called Asian Too that had pan-asian cuisine, are you familiar with this restaurant.

Getting ready for a road trip down to Palm Beach Gardens from J-ville, anything worth while to have dinner and get off of the interstate for a few minutes in the Titusville to Melbourne strech of I-95.

Dim Sum in Jacksonville ( yes, really!!!)

This is sooo exciting, now we can get our Dim Sum fix between trips to Orlando. We havent been to Silver Star in ages, I remember they had very good duck, but the place was a little dirty... not worth the trip over the river but now maybe so.

Good Food walking distance Agnes Scott

I have a teacher friend who is going to a conference next week in Atlanta and will be staying on the Agnes Scott campus. She will have to fend for herself for a couple of meals and wanted to know if there is any good eating establishments walking distance from the Agnes Scott campus, she will not have a car.

Vietnamese dish recommendations

We are heading to Orlando in a week and want to try more Vietnamese dishes. We had the spring rolls and lemon grass chicken at Rice Paper and pho bo and green papaya salad at Pho 88.
We plan to go to Viet Garden and would like some suggestion on some tasty dishes to try. Thanks

El Tamarindo -- SW Ft. Lauderdale Salvadoran

I agree with mcbinfla, sorry you had a bad time. We were there in nov. 2006 I was in town for a conference and my wife came to shop. I had read about El Tmarindo in the Sun Sentinel and we decided to give it a try... our meal was wonderful, the service was very good (and it was very crowded). The food was so good my wife went back the next morning for bfast, and she stayed there most of the am talking with the staff and fellow diners, and she does not speak spanish. We will definatley go back when we are in S. Fl.
