Catering/Meal Prep in Cleveland (Westside)

Looking for a place that I can have a few meals made for a family with a newborn. Delivery would be great, too. Any recs?

Need advice (seafood) in Cincinnati.

the Hyde Park Fish Market (technically in Norwood or Oakley) is anything but snotty. Prices are better than Fresh Market, quality way better than Jungle Jim's. Service is fantastic. http://www.hydeparkfishmarket.com/

Downtown Cinci-near Westin Hotel

actually, Vine all the way up to 13th should be okay to walk. the new Gateway Quarter is redeveloped and looking great with retail and restaurants like MetroNation and Lavomatic.

Top Ten In Cincinnati [Moved from Midwest board]

don't get me wrong, I enjoy Slim's, but top 5? hardly. certainly not better than Daveed's or Nectar. what I found even more interesting was the chef's survey. boca was most overrated among the chefs.

Cincinnati -- best places to eat right now

Try and hit Twist, Jean-Robert's new bar/lounge before or after dinner. We were there on a Friday night a few weeks ago and it was hoppin'. It had the most diverse crowd I've ever seen in Cincinnati. It's gorgeous, drinks are good, as are the apps. Nada and Daveed's also get my vote for dinner.

Cincinnati: Gotta get a Goetta

Just had the Goetta Melt at Nectar for brunch. Goetta on toast, over easy egg, fabulous sauce. http://www.thenectarrestaurant.com/index.html
Heavenly. Good way for a newbie to try it. Chef/owner Julie Francis gets her goetta at Kroeger Bros. at Findlay Market.

SD lukin 4 eats & hangouts in Indy and Cinci

Via Vite Just opened on fountain square. simple italian, owners are father and son Nicola and Christian Pietoso: http://www.viaviterestaurant.com/ Live music, fun contepmorary atmosphere. I loved it when I went, have heard mixed reviews from others. Jean-Robert de Cavel has two restaurants and a very new sexy bar downtown: Pigall's JeanRo and Twist: www.jeanrobertgroup.com Last, Nada just opened this week, Mexican from the chef who owns Boca in Oakley. I haven't been but it has good buzz already. http://www.eatdrinknada.com/main.html

LA Chowhound visiting Cinci

Definitely try one of Jean-Robert's places: Pho Paris and Greenup Cafe are in Covington; JeanRo is downtown. all three in price range. Pho Paris is french vietnamese, Greenup has great breakfast; and you cannot go wrong with lunch or dinner at JeanRo. www.jrfrg.com. in Hyde Park, Cumin Indian Fusion: http://www.cuminrestaurant.com; try the tamarind eggplant chips. in Blue Ash, in a strip mall, but really, really good, is Brown Dog Cafe.

Visiting Miami University of Ohio need recs

try kona bistro. owned and operated by two MU alums. Fresh with an emphasis on local, seasonal--casual but not too casual. http://www.konabistro.com/

something for everyone on the menu.

West Coast Road Trip

Klamath Falls b/c we want to take the kids to Crater Lake. the Crater Lake lodge was booked, KF seemed the next best thing. We have family in Seattle, family in Sonoma, so the bulk of the trip is with them. Also, since there's family there, we cut out some places that we'll hit the next time out.

mrnelso--thanks for all the details. will report!

West Coast Road Trip

Leaving soon for 2 weeks on the West Coast. I am a CH travelling with non-CH husband and two sons, ages 5 and 7, fairly picky eaters. Starting in Seattle, then to Klamath Falls, OR (lunch in Portland, perhaps on a Sunday). Then Klamath Falls to Sonoma County, then Monterey and SF.
Need suggestions especially for Oregon, Northern CA (along I-5) to Sonoma and Monterey. thanks!

Dinner recs for downtown Cincinnati

glad you liked our city! I always tell people that Cincinnati chili is better if you don't consider it as a traditional chili.

Best Southern Cookbooks to buy? [moved from General Chowhounding Topics]

Ora, I'm so glad you mentioned Charleston Receipts! the Old-fashioned Pound Cake recipe is like no other! I've been making that one for over 20 years. I occaisonally try a new one and always go back to that.

Starving in Cincinnati!

JeanRo Bistro, always great. not sure what you're up for but both bars at the Hilton Netherland and the Cincinnatian are gorgeous and have decent food. There's also just across the river in Covington--Pho Paris and Jean-Robert's Greenup cafe--both owned by Jean-Robert de Cavel, who owns Pigall's and JeanRo. Newport has plenty to offer as well.

Need help finding cooking class for client entertaining event in Cincinnati

the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State is amazing. Just outside of downtown, 2 1/2 year old state of the art facility. they can do any class, hands-on, for as many people as you need. 513-569-1500 http://culinary.cincinnatistate.edu/index.htm

Help! Best restaurants in Cincy - highbrow

Daveed's at 934 in Mt. Adams. Eclectic american, subdued atmosphere, extremely talented chef, David Cook--who worked at the Maisonette for a long time with Jean-Robert de Cavel. the sous chef, Matt Winterrowd was at Alinea.

Best of Cincinnati

5. Best Romantic Restaurant--Pigall's or Orchids.
1. best brunch--Jean-Robert's Greenup cafe. great outdoor area, too. by far the most casual of his places.
6. Best Mexican Food--I've heard Sylvia's in Newport. there's an authentic taqueria in Fairfield on Rt. 4 that is also really good.

7. Best Dining with a View--Cityview in Mt. Adams. $2 burgers and great beer

The BonBonerie, Cincinnati

as far as the combo of decoration and taste go, Bonbonerie can't be beat. Opera cream is by far my favorite and it is always beautifully decorated. their people are very, very talented. the best yellow cake in town is at Wyoming Pastry shop in Wyoming. traditional, but really, really good.

Cincinnati restaurants that use local growers

All of the Jean-Robert Group (Pigall's, JeanRo, PhoParis and Greenup) buy as much local as they can--and a lot from a woman named Sally who grows gorgeous stuff. Tomatoes, herbs, tons of vegetables and eggs, too. Rondo's in Cheviot buys local, Slim's grows a lot of his own stuff.
