Welcome to Williamsburg- All the Info you Dare to Share

Is it horrible that I love Anytime? I know it gets ripped all the time for semi-shittiness but everytime I go (and granted, I am usually wasted off $1 drinks) I enjoy the food--pressed sandwiches, really good caesar salad, TATOR TOTS etc...and it's usually empty-ish which means decent service...

Ribollita

I miss Florentine ribollita too!! I used to eat it (almost daily, really) at Mario's near Mercato Centrale. I tried the Hearth version too and I really didn't think it came close to the Italian original. I've seen it as a special before at Caccio e Pepe that might be worth checking out...

highish-end vegetarian-friendly restaurant

even though their menu is strictly vegan, candle 79 on 79th and lexington is UNBELIEVABLE. everything i've eaten there has been so tasty and elegant...yes they are healthy and organic, but the restaurant, staff and food is really upscale and delicious. i reccomend the chimichurri seitan and pumpkin seed crusted tempeh--both amazing.

bakeries in williamsburg?

i just moved out here and it seems like i can't find any decent bakeries besides the sort of shady looking place on the corner of grand and bedford. any suggestions? i'm specfically looking for a place with good bread and pastries, nothing too fancy...

Israeli: Eggs Boiled in Meat Broth

you should try rectangles...it used to be on 2nd ave and ninth street but i think they moved a little bit further uptown. it's an authentic israeli restaurant with a few dishes that sound very familiar.

good luck!
