Eleven Madison Park & Picky Eater

As I mentioned, she has too many dislikes to list.

Eleven Madison Park & Picky Eater

We're planning to eat at Eleven Madison Park. My dining companion has a long list of food dislikes. Given that the menu only lists the main ingredient for each dish (and the tasting menu may offer even less detail), we're concerned that some dishes would include ingredients she dislikes.

EMP's web site says to "share any thoughts or preferences, including any ingredient dislikes, and allow us to design their meal from there." Alas, she has too many dislikes to list.

Will this be a problem? The best solution would be for her to see a menu that lists main ingredients for each course (i.e., a normal menu), but that doesn't seem to be how EMP operates.

I suppose the best alternative is to discuss the matter with our server. Any other suggestions, including anything we might do in advance?

Italian near Morgan Library (Madison & 36th)?

If jeans are acceptable on a Saturday night, I suppose we'll be fine for a Friday lunch.

Are we likely to need reservations?

Anything else good in the neighborhood?

Italian near Morgan Library (Madison & 36th)?

Does not appeal because it doesn't look like I'd be happy wearing a polo shirt and sneakers. Price is fine. Do you think I'd be ok at Ai Fiori so attired?

Ciano looks nice, although I would prefer something a bit closer

Italian near Morgan Library (Madison & 36th)?

We're planning to see the Morgan Library tomorrow and were looking for an Italian restaurant in the immediate area. Something nice, but where we'll be comfortable wearing short sleeve shirts and sneakers.

Google maps comes up with Ai Fiori, but the pictures make it seem like bankers who lunch, which is not quite the atmosphere I'm looking for.

Best near St. James

Agreed - the menu doesn't really work.

Any view on these:
- Kitchen A Trattoria
- Ragazzi
- Mauricio's Orlando II
- Mosaic (menu doesn't work, but web site says options for dietary restrictions always available)

They used to like Mirabelle, but don't like it in the new location

Best near St. James

We're planning to take my parents (who are getting on in years) out for a special meal. They live in St James, so I'd like something within reasonable driving distance. One of the party is a vegetarian, so steak houses, sea food or the like isn't ideal

What would you recommend?

Decent Italian that delivers UES?

Have you tried their delivery? Does the food travel well?

According to its website, Maruzella doesn't deliver north of 86th

Decent Italian that delivers UES?

That's one of our favorite local restaurants and exactly the restaurant I was thinking of when I said I was concerned about food not traveling well.

For example, last time we were there I had a gnocchi dish and my wife had a seafood (in shell) pasta. Would these really still work well by the time they got delivered to us?

What's your experience?

Decent Italian that delivers UES?

I'm looking for recommendations for a reasonable Italian restaurant that delivers in the Gracie Mansion area.

I'm mainly interested in pasta dishes. Something a cut above generic, but I'm concerned higher end food won't travel well.

Fresno Italian?

Google maps has it about 16 minutes v. 23 for the old.

Have they worked out the kinks and improved service since opening?

Fresno Italian?

That's good to know! All the online sources I see list it at 7089 N. Marks. The new location is 6729 N Palm Ave & W Herndon?

Fresno Italian?

What you recommend for an Italian restaurant in Fresno? About a year ago when we were in Fresno we tried Parma, which was great. Anything else we should try? If not, we'll most likely eat at Parma again.

We'll be staying near the airport and would prefer not to have to drive that far.

Rughetta -> Luna Rossa

Rughetta (85th & 1st), one of my favorite local Italian restaurants, has now become Luna Rossa. The menu is essentially the same (including some dishes with Rughetta in the name), but the decor and wait staff have changed since the last time we went. The food was at least as good.

Anyone know if it's just a name change or a change in management?

Italian in Fresno?

We had a very nice dinner at Parma. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for Italian in the area.

Thanks everyone!

Italian in Fresno?

Oggi looks a bit more basic than we'd like and Trelio looks a bit less Italian than we'd like.

Is there likely to be road construction or other traffic issues Sequoia to Parma to airport area? We'd plan on an early dinner, given a flight first thing in the morning.

Italian in Fresno?

Thanks. Sounds as if Parma is the way to go.

Italian in Fresno?

That looks great. Google maps shows the way.

Is there anything comparable closer to the airport or between Sequoia and Fresno? Or is this the clear winner for the area?

Italian in Fresno?

We will be in Fresno on a Tuesday night in mid-October, on our way from Sequoia National Park back to Fresno Airport and are looking for a great Italian restaurant for dinner. (Early morning flight on Wednesday; staying at airport Marriott).

What would you recommend?

UES Italian for anniversary dinner

We had dinner at Spigolo tonight (not yet our anniversary). The food was very tasty. The portions seemed normal sized; not at all mini.

The room was nice enough. It would have been reasonably quiet if not for some self-absorbed woman who was shouting. Other than her, we could barely hear anyone else, including her dining companion. The restaurant was half empty and the walls were open for outside dining, which may have affected noise level.

We would definitely go back.

UES Italian for anniversary dinner

We went to Primavera to celebrate getting engaged, many years ago. I have no real recollection of the food.

Leaning towards Spigolo, unless it's very noisy. Maybe Paola's if Spigolo is going to be too loud

UES Italian for anniversary dinner

Are you saying Spigolo is deafeningly noisy? That seems different than what others have said.

Spigolo

UES Italian for anniversary dinner

Quiet is much preferred to noisy, which would seem to favor Spigolo over Sandro's. Paola's can also be a bit noisy (although certainly not overwhelming) in my limited experience in the new location.

Someone suggested I consider Erminia. Any thoughts on that?

UES Italian for anniversary dinner

The food at Paola's is great, although we liked the atmosphere at prior location better. It was much more relaxed.

UES Italian for anniversary dinner

Please recommend an UES (preferably north of 80th) Italian restaurant for an anniversary dinner. In addition to food, service and nice atmosphere are important.

Best Italian for lunch near St. James?

We're looking for a great Italian restaurant that does lunch in the general vicinity of St. James.

Any views regarding Villa Sorrento, Cielo or Pentimento?

The celebrants have rejected Kitchen a Trattoria and Casa Rustica.

thanks!

Special lunch near St James

Alas, most of the group don't like Indian food.

Special lunch near St James

What would you recommend for a special lunch near St James? One of the party of four is a vegetarian, so I'm leaning towards Italian, but other cuisines could work. The other three eat most anything.

Kitchen a Trattoria does not seem to do lunch. The other celebrants did not like Kithchen a Bistro or Casa Rustica.

Cielo in Smithtown?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Florence lunch near Uffizi

Continuing my search for the right place to eat lunch, please recommend a restaurant near the Uffizi.

Vatican lunch

Where would you eat lunch near the Vatican? I'm not looking for anything that complex.
