Yet another visitor to Boston...looking for advice

Toro is a fun place which you should try. Same owner as Coppa and equally crowded.....go on the early side put your name in and have a drink there or across the street at Stella(fun bar scene and maybe try a app)

Champions over at Marriot great to watch but your standard bar chow......Joe's on Newbury has two great bars and better food-especially if it's a nice day(doubt the sound will be on though)

Large group celebration dinner - I need YOUR great idea! You'll see why...

try Toro or Coppa at a VERY early time-like when they open. food at both are great and prices are very reasonable. However prices add up very quickly so beware.

Help! Need a NICE Seafood Restaurant to take important business clients

Atlantic Seafood is very solid. Its part of a local chain but prefer it over McC&Shmiks. Also check out Abe's next door , although a Steakhouse does seafood pretty well( Shellfish Tower, Crab cakes, Swordfish). It is the busiest restaurant in town and has a great buzz. Do not go to Legal SEafood or APier 4-unless you want to lose your clients

eating and marathoning and, well, eating ...

agree on North End being MOBBED....unless you go real early you just end up using precious energy waiting in line......try Toscanno/Figs/Paramount on Charles St BHill which all have pasta......Toscanno has very good Italian.......Also Grotto is off beaten path but very good Italian and may not be as crowded as the aforementioned....Post race...Franklin Cafe in South End .....also Abe &Louis Steakhouse has a good bar will have a good buzz.......went there after running one year and had a nice filet and glass of wine which hit the spot....have fun and put your name on your shirt(you'll be happy you did)

Lunch and Dinner....Downtown Boston Restaurants with 9 year old and 2 year old

Bristol Lounge at 4 Seasons is very child friendly and food is good-somewhat expensive but you feel very comfortable with children even though it seems fancy. A lot of room for stroller and the stafff is very good with children.
Stephanies on Newbury, Not great food but good for children
Paramount Beacon Hill great for Breakfast Lunch Dinner. But gets very busy after 9am on w/ends.
PF Changs
Stella in South End if you go for early dinner.

Also wouldn't worry about bringing kids into restaurants since most are happy to just have the business

good luck!

Suggestions on a special occasion meal with daughters?

I think the Bristol Lounge is your best bet. The staff are extremely friendly to kids. It's a great room to walk around, has nice places to lounge and at this time of year a beautiful view of the Public Garden. While I think some of their entrees are over-priced I believe they have some quality children's options. Also, you might want to inquire about any Holiday events at the Bristol-they are well-done.

Where to find a great steak for a decent price in the city??

Houston's has a very good Rib-eye for about $30. Think they use Choice.

where is the "it" restaurant of Boston?

O YA . When we had a baby that was the first place my wife wanted to go. Sushi, champagne sake, on and on. Not much of a scene but go somewhere after for drinks.
Market at the W has really good food and more of a scene but tough to get resos on the busy nights. My rec would to go early and sit at the bar

No. 9 Park

I think what everyone is missing is that when #9 opened you could get great , ambitious food in the dining room while you could sit at the bar and order simple dishes(chicken, pasta steak) done really, really well. Great professional service and a few characters on the staff was a given. All those qualities made it's reputation. It attracted a local bar crowd which in turn made it popular with visitors and the expense account crowd.

Like a lot of great chefs they feel the need to always aim higher (ie change)with their food when it's their original concept which made #9 so popular.

Shake Shack Possibly Coming to the Common (Competing with another Proposal)

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. Building a restaurant on the Common with all the politics and logistics involved....I would say that you won't see a SShack or anything else for at least 2 years. And for Boston and it's politicians-that would be fast. A sad but true fact about this City and how it works.

Is erbaluce too fancy?

a little gem in the middle of over-priced mob-scenes. I prefer sitting at the bar or in the lounge. try the wild boar with starfruit mostarda if still on menu

Ginger Park

Had dinner there last night and at least the room looks much better. 4 of us shared all small plates. Some hits and misses. The hits:papaya salad, and most of the dumpling section(edamame, bbq pork). Would pass on the ribs. Not a big fan of big beef ribs anyhow but sauce(cocoa and peanut??) was nothing special. pin noodles were ok.

Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable. Menu reads much better than it taste's. I would go back again (in a few months)as I love this type of food and hope that the kitchen continues to get better.

Mooo vs. KO Prime

I would do neither. When you are paying that kind of money I would go to Abe's or Grill 23. I believe both are much better that Mooo or KO.

Is there any food considered "biker food"

Throwing a party and the theme is bikers, Harley's etc. My question is: Is there any food associated with Bikers? Or any restaurants that are famous biker hangouts?

Up-and-coming creative bartenders in Boston?

Without a doubt, John Gerston from #9. Takes bartending to another level. No offense but everyone else is fighting for the silver.

Visiting Boston for 5 days: please advise about eating out

I would try to search this Board for unique Boston restaurants. It has been covered many times and you will find many suggestions. On your one expensive meal. What are your favorite types of foods? Sushi, Steak, Seafood? That would help narrow down your options and get better results.

On tipping it's usually 15% for good service and up to 20% if you've had a fun time and very good service. Gratuity is usually never added except for large parties or in some restaurants that are heavily frequented by tourists (they will state that on their menu's).

Boston w/College Students

I would try Kings Bowling Alley. While it would not be my first choice for foodies, the food is actually pretty good (pizza, wings, burgers) and it would be a fun spot for this age group with many options inside. Might need resos for the lanes. Rattlesnack has passable Mexican. Not a big fan of Fire & Ice.

Eating solo near Park Plaza Hotel

Across the street is Davios. You can sit at the bar and the bar menu is reasonable. You can also sit at the table in front of kitchen-solo-has some good action. Also, Pigalle has a great inexpensive bar menu but only has 5 seats. Hint go real early or after 8 when people leave for the shows.

Staying at the Custom House--What are the Must Try Places?

Do not miss the Vault on Water St. 2min from the Custom House. Great after work tavern Mon-friday. All locals and a great looking bar. Can only rec. the sliders.

Pizzeria Regina for a novice

Sit at the bar and order the small or 2 smalls if you are really hungry. About a year ago we did some unscientific research and the smalls just tasted better than the larges. Maybe something to do with less dough to cook. Even if we have people over we order a bunch of smalls.
