What's good in Tarrytown these days?
i agree with you wincountrygiril - I thought the food was just okay, the service was poor, and the prices were high for what you got. But what do I know - I like Lefteris.
Tired of the Same Old Westchester Saturday Night
Any interesting new Westchester ideas for Saturday night? This is dinner for two, mid-Westchester, no more than @100.00 with drinks. Thanks for any suggestions!
Jade Gardens Gone
It's funny...I drive by Jade Garden all the time, and ever since this announcement, they seem much busier.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
I was there around 5:30 and it was crazy! I thought the seafood section was impressive too. I bought my daughter a maki roll in the food court area (they have Korean, Chinese, and Japanese stalls), and it was very good. Much less expensive than other places, too. My guess is that prices will rise soon, though. I also saw a woman buying a HUGE bag of nice mixed salad greens for 4.99.
Westchester Venue for Small Wedding
Does anyone have any ideas for a small (40-50ppl) wedding in Westchester or close by? We are looking into Red Hat, Rest X, X20, Harvest on Hudson. The two things we are looking for are a nice setting and non-banquet like food. TIA!
Sabatino's Coal Brick Oven (Hawthorne, NY)
I went there once. The pizza was great, but I must say the place had a very strange vibe. The lighting was very flourescent, and the emptyness was a little creepy.
Help--Jury Duty in White Plains
Exactly. A couple of those LOOOOOONG blocks make a difference.
Help--Jury Duty in White Plains
To me it's a wasteland because in order to get something decent walking from my buidling, it's at least a ten minute walk either way, and I've killed half my lunchbreak by then.
Help--Jury Duty in White Plains
I work in this area...it's a wasteland for dining. Karamba and Bao's are good, and Iron Tomato is good if you can get down to Mamaroneck AVe. Mix-it-Up is also good for salads (Mamaroneck Ave). Not much beyond that. My office building - 50 Main Street/11 Martine - has a decent cafe for sandwiches and salads, so that is where we usually eat.
HMart White Plains/Hartsdale
Just and update - a sign is now up on the front of the building for the new HMart. Can't find a mention of the store on their website, though.
Sweet sixteen party for special needs girl - Westchester
Lake Isle in Eastchester is nice and has reasonable prices. I had my daugther's bat mitzvah there. Not sure if they have a room that is for 30-40 ppl.
Best Mexican Food in Westchester?
I like it too. The food is fresh and tasty, the atmosphere is attractive, and the service is friendly.
Fresh Market - Scarsdale
Got there last night around 6 - no problem parking. The market was doing a brisk business. The take out barbeque and rotisserie items looked great, as did the meat. I bought dried okra snacks, which i love, and spicy pickles (jar).
Small Birthday Dinner - Westchester County
Il Soriso in Irvington has a nice private room.
Superbowl 46
Fell asleep thinking about what I'm going to make for this year's festivities - anyone have any new and interesting ideas for 2012?
Fresh Market - Scarsdale
Thanks for the review. I can imaginwe what the parking is going to be like - that place has always been tough.
Sweet 16
Any ideas for about ten 16 year olds coming into the city for a birthday celebration? We were thinking something along the lines of Dos Caminos.
khangri Sushi
My daughter and I were going to try it, but there was not a soul in the place so we went to Fujinoya instead. Thanks for the heads up!
Westchester - Exceptional Restaurants That Have Barely Made it Through A Year
Thanks, cubanat. I've seen so many bad places come and go, but the good ones always seem to be busy (at least on the weekends).
Westchester - Exceptional Restaurants That Have Barely Made it Through A Year
I don't think so, because they were trying to make the point that people in Westchester want mediocre, uninteresting food. I don't believe that is the case.
Westchester - Exceptional Restaurants That Have Barely Made it Through A Year
In the Spiga thread, someone mentioned exceptional restaurants in Westchester that have barely made it through a year. I am very curious to hear examples, because I honestly don't believe this is the case. The restaurants that I see failing seem like half-baked, poorly executed enterprises.
Spiga (Central Ave Scarsdale)... did it close?
Just out of curiousity - what is an exceptional restaurant in Westchester that barely made it through a year?
As for Spiga, it wasn't great but I don't think it was as horrible as people make it out to be. I do believe the whole concept was a bit dated, though, by the time it closed. I just hope the building gets filled - I hate large empty businesses on Central Ave.
Carrots in stuffing?
Thank you so much for all of your help. I've decided to go sans carrots - my stuffing was not well received last years, so I want to err on the side of caution! :)
Carrots in stuffing?
I bought some Tader Joe's mirepoix to use as the vegetables in my stuffing for Thanksgiving. I know the celery and onions are on point, but I don't see many stuffing recipes with carrots in them. Is it gross to have chopped carrots in my stuffing? TIA
