Ah HAH! I knew if I popped up info to my mom, she'd remember something... She says it's near Portola, south of Susanville, on hwy 70... About 50 or so miles NW of Reno in "the middle of nowhere"... Somewhere near the Plumas National Forest, maybe?

It's possible... I've just written my mom and asked whether Woodside sounded familiar - she's good with names if she hears them. Tee hee... I think we all get that way as we get older - the brain computer has more and more stashed into it, and it gets more and more difficult to process information. LOL.

I'd thought that Alice's Restaurant was originally written about a restaurant in Massachusets? Then again, I could definitely be wrong...

How did you know we rode? LOL... Indeed, we road motorcycles up and down both 101 and I-5... I think it's possible that, while at the time I didn't appreciate it, they became some of the best memories I've ever had of travel and family time...

I know... *sigh* In my defence, I was 11 or 12 (so, that would be about 1987 or so)... Also, my mom (and I love her dearly) just doesn't remember much at all about it. All I remember is that at the time, the cinnamon bun that they served there was about 10 inches across (large enough to fill a "standard" sized styrofoam to-go box)...

I've been trying to plan a road trip following one that my parents and I did a LOOOOONG time ago, and I'm hoping that someone here might be from Northern CA, and might happen to remember a small truckstop called Alice's Cafe?

They had some of the biggest cinnamon rolls I'd ever laid eyes on, along with some really tasty burgers, etc, and it was in the midst of the mountains up there...

If anyone happens to remember where exactly it is and could let me know, it would really be helpful.
