Restaurant Choice Challenge

You probably want to avoid chains, but if not, maybe Papa Razzi at the Chestnut Hill Mall?

Kid approved birthday cakes in Needham or Newton

Roche Brothers cakes are really, really good. Sudbury Farms in Needham is the same company as Roche, I believe.

March 2012 Openings and Closings

Sabra in Newton Centre is closing next week, and heard that an Irish pub is moving in.

Post-baptism dinner rec?

I could be wrong, but I think the Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale has a private room? If so, it would be a fun venue...old school pizza place with other dishes on the menu....pasta and American fare. Definitely inexpensive.

Dinner in newton area

Second the Fiorella's recommendation, and also consider Amarin Thai in Newton Corner. Relatively inexpensive but a lovely restaurant and they don't rush you at all. Parking can be a pain, though.

Looking for a Restaurant with Way Too Many Caveats... and oh yeah, for Tomorrow

Fiorella's in Newton, on the Waltham line. Great Italian, with both pasta and pizza. Should be in your price point, and it's casual while still feeling like a nice sit-down restaurant.

Need a new place. Somerville, Cambridge, Newton, Arlington

Karoun in Newton (Washington Street in Newtonville). Very yummy middle eastern food, plus belly dancing! Not sure how often they have the dancing, but I would bet they have it on Saturday nights.

Groupon today for Lilly's, Allston - ???

We've had their catering for a number of events, and it's always been really, really good. Cooked al dente, nice sauces, pretty flavorful, friendly people on the phone. I got individual orders a few times as well and those never seemed to be quite as good.

Which would you choose?

Just an FYI: I am wondering if you mean the Mamma Marias in the North End of Boston? Your link is to a restaurant in Fitchburg which is about an hour west of Boston.

Clam Box, Ipswich Question

I have been a fan of JT Farnhams throughout the years, but will finally be giving the Clam Box a try in a few weeks. Just wondering if I should order the big bellies, or is their regular order the way to go? I don't like small bellies, but I also don't want gigantic ones either. Thanks for your help!

Function Venue for 50 People in May-July need ideas

Look into Papa Razzi in Wellesley. I went to a retirement party there and it was very nice...separate room, and the food was delicious. Don't know about the price, though. Good luck!

New or unique mid-range places I would like to try - please add to my list if you see fit

Garlic n Lemons in Allston: try the spicy chicken schawarma

Where can you play board games while you eat at any restaurant between Westborough and Boston?

Not sure if you still can, but check out Moogy's in Brighton. Not fine dining, but a cute, kind of groovy sub/sandwich place.

Looking for a place for pizza and beer for 25 in Boston

Not sure if The Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale has a private room. If they do, this would be a great place. Old school...neon lights...cold beer....really really good pizza. I would also second giving the Allston Regina a try.

Rosie's bakery

I've ordered their fruit tart for an office meeting, and it was quite good. Their chocolate chip cookies are unbelievable, but with $25, I would go with the tart.

King Fung II in Brookline

Yes, that's the one being referred to.

Pizzeria Regina vs. Pizzeria Regina

No, I don't need glossy, and definitely not a chain feel...no need to jump to such a conclusion. I appreciate places like Farm Grill, Garlic n Lemons, that make an effort at keeping on top of cleaning tables, floors, etc. I find the NE Regina to be a little too lax in cleaning up from previous parties, which I'm sure is difficult with their small space and large volume. Therefore, found the Allston location to be preferable IMO.

Pizzeria Regina vs. Pizzeria Regina

We ate at the Allston Regina today, and do I dare say, I liked it better than the original. Sure the ambiance of the original is great, but the filthiness of it really bothers me. Our pizza today in Allston was delicious. The parking and the cleaner restaurant certainly added to it, but it really was quite a perfect pie.

Garlic N Lemons

Harvard Street, Allston.

Garlic N Lemons

Tried this place for the first time earlier in the week and absolutely loved my sandwich. I had the spicy chicken schawarma. Good quality chicken, fresh veggies, lot of flavorful sauce. Best lunch I have had all year. I thought about for the rest of the day, for the rest of the week! Folks running the place were very nice, restaurant (tiny) appeared quite clean. Can't wait to go back!

Recs for tiki bar/polynesian/americanized chinese spots?

I have no idea if the food is any good, but Tahiti in Dedham definitely fits the bill for the kind of place you're looking for. I know I loved it when I was 10, too! :)

Take-out for 30 in Waltham or Newton?

We just had Fiorella's for a group of 20. The food was a huge hit, absolutely delicious. Highly recommend it. I also second the Domenic's recommendation.

Any good Restaurant Week reports?

I too went to the Capital Grille (Chestnut Hill). The filet was indeed the best I have had in a long time, if not ever!

West Roxbury

Wasn't it Hunan Pagoda or something like that?

Need help for tomorrow - party of 12!

Birthday cake needed for 40+ people

Second Costco's, and BJs are also really delicious.

Is India Paradise in Newton Centre Good?

Second that -- it's good enough, but nothing spectacular.

Not at all comprehensive list of good chow in Boston

Small correction: It's Farm Grill & Rotisserie (not Fresh Farms)

Great job!!
