Monday, Monday... Help - NOT fried chk in Napa

Not that $52 Ad Hoc fried chicken isn't a deal, but I'm seeking Monday night dinner specials in Napa. Non-holiday Mondays in March.

Anyone know of anything good? Good = quality+price+experience, completely recognizing that Special = something's missing somewhere.

Thanks

the veggie burgers and dogs were a mid-season addition in 2009

Cavey's in Manchester, CT: Highs and lows

at the risk of reopening the CT v Manhattan argument - has anyone been to Cavey's lately?

Momofuku Tamales

Agreed. They're not very good. The sausage is the best of the 3 since it actually tastes like something other than the overwhelming dough. stick to the pork buns

Best Birthday Cake on the UES?

and Two Lit Red Hens has NOTHING in common with Payard. The "new" Payard is mostly a choc shop but they do have pastry. call them. Or, Citarella can come up with a pastry-type-cake for you, or Eli's

Clinton Street Baking - dinner on a Sat

not as hard as it is to get one for brunch

Sat. night Drinks / Nosh

hotel and restaurant bars are generally good places to find older, quieter co-diners/drinkers. saturdays are hard, but 9pm should not be as bad as, say, 11pm. If you are really willing to hop a train or cab, and money is not an object - what about the bar at Gramercy Tavern or the bar at Gotham?

Good bars to head to if not in our 20s?!

tbouch, did you find anything good?

Cassoulet for one?

You've never eaten cassoulet? That's quite a commitment. Maybe go out and eat some before you put in the time and effort. If it's something you like, you'll be happy to have leftovers. They will be showing up on menus soon. Quercy on Court St in Cobble Hill has a nice one. Wine will assuage your cardio concerns

La Truffe Sauvage in Lake Charles? anyone?

I don't know know what "modern LA" is either, but I'm intrigued. I also read some good things online. Good point about good food v good ambiance. Thank you

Might get caught by the hook of a crook no time for cool...

Renewing an old thread...
How about restaurants in Grand Isle? I'm told some are open all fall/winter.
Good? Compared to Leeville Seafood?

off the beaten path between Houston and New Orleans

Can we assume you're currently on the road?

La Truffe Sauvage in Lake Charles? anyone?

Wondering if anyone can talk about a meal at La Truffe Sauvage in Lake Charles. Is this the most interesting/best restaurant in town? Is it "modern LA"?
Thanks

UWS Wine Bars -- what do people think?

The Bin 71 sibling is Barcibo Enoteca. Totally agree that Buceo 95 is somewhat more expensive than necessary, though a good place. Has anyone been to Nectar up on FD Blvd?

Peking Duck for solo diner in Beijing

This is a great question. I'm interested to hear what other people have to say, but will put in my two-cents. You can get served, that's not a problem though they may not be super nice about it, but you're not likely to get half a duck. Meaning, you'll still order like you are more than one person.

Tarte Flambe in NYC?

Not sure how exactly I landed on this old thread but I'm compelled to write in and defend Cafe D'Alsace. Things may not be perfect in there, but the wine list is fantastic and you're more likely to hit than miss on the menu. That said, a friend of mine has been craving Tart Flambe for days (oh, yes, that's how I got here)...I'll have to bring him to CD'A and report back

Is there a Toronto (or surrounding area) specialty?

Toronto is pretty well known for their hot dog vendors, which seems to be your thing. You'll find them all over the heart of downtown.

Good bars to head to if not in our 20s?!

It's true that there's a significant difference between weekdays and weekends at these and other bars. Best to stick to restaurant bars like Gramercy Tavern if you want to avoid the sub-30's.

Mississippi - help!

Will be driving through the northeast corner of Mississippi, I-78. Any good pit stops along the way? Thanks

where to get sea salt caramel in the city?

I love these things too. Murray's sells them. And Whole Foods has their own brand (not the 365, the other one)

Diner on the UES

Does Gracie Mews have anything to do with the Gracie Diner on 88th at 1st? That's a good one too.

I love the Viand on 86th at 2nd but it's not cheap and it's not exactly next to NYPres.

Good Eats In Milwaukee?

ok. I'd never heard of Mke Chili either. That makes me feel better.

but the bloody mary + beer thing still has me spinning. I love it. I'll get back to you after I dig around

Good Eats In Milwaukee?

What's the difference between Cincinnati chili and Milwaukee chili?

and can someone please tell us more about the bloody mary - beer chaser phenomenon? is this a brunch thing?

Wisconsin Cheese .... amazing

Wisconsin Cheese .... amazing

the snow white blah blah won the big cheese society award, yes? I just got a GREAT map in the mail courtesy of the Wisconsin Cheese Board (Milk Board?). Can anyone tell me about Bolen Vale and/or Cady?
