Dining alone near Union Station this weekend
I'm coming to DC for the weekend-- for work. I'm staying at the Hotel George near Union Station and will likely be dining alone for dinner Friday (after I arrive from NYC), and lunch Sunday (before I head home)... and maybe dinner Sat evening if I'm feeling anti-social!
I've read the boards and have seen a few good recommendations for the area but I don't know if they are open on the weekend, or appropriate for a solo diner. I am flexible about cuisine, though I don't eat meat (I do eat fish), and since I'm flying solo I'd prefer casual places.
Options near my hotel are ideal, but I'd be willing to hop on a bus or the Metro a short distance to enjoy great food in an interesting neighborhood.

Rehearsal Dinner for 50 people
I second Beacon-- we had our day after brunch there, and it was great. Our rehearsal dinner was at Bayards, way downtown on Hanover Square. It's a beautiful old place, they have lots of private rooms (it feels like a private house) and the food was excellent. I'd recommend them. At the time we did it (two years ago), they were open for dinner as a regular restaurant, I think now they may only do private events. http://www.bayards.com Good luck!
