Hot Pot ...Take Out

The meat avalable at T&T is frozen and the soup base is concentrate. I suspect the meat offered at most hot pot restaurants is frozen as well though. I prefer buying ingredients at the store and cooking at home myself and I often get ingredients at T&T.

looking for vietnamese sandwich

Actually the Nguyen Huong is in a plaza close to Markham Rd and Steeles so the traffic is not that bad. No worse then downtown any way.

Crawfish Boil in Toronto

I actually saw live crawfish at T&T two weeks ago. It was the T&T in scarborough though (on Steeles Close to Markham rd).

Where is the best Korean BBQ restaurant?

I think for Korean BBQ, you get what you pay for. TRUE Korean BBQ places do not come cheap. What do you consider inexpensive?

alternative to asian legend? in markham or richmond hill-

Well if you want food similar to Asian Legend and you do not mind a hole in the wall then Northern Dumpling Kitchen might be right up your alley. I love the dumplings and noodles there. If you are a fan of garlic and not afraid of fatty pork try the sliced pork with spicy garlic sauce.

Dim Sum at Dragon Dynasty - Could be some of GTA's best!

I agree the sticky rice at Dragon Dynasty was very good. The best version I have had at a dim sum place.

Soft Shell Crabs

Maybe you could try emailing or calling Diana seafood restaurant. I got an email saying the store has soft shells, maybe they will fry some up in the restaurant.

Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce in Toronto?

I am not sure exactly what Durham means to you, but the Freshco on Kingston near White's has chipotles where they keep the taco fixings. I have also bought them at No Frills and as mentioned they would have them at Loblaws as well.

Another one bite the dust - 'Jun Jun' aka 'Chicken & Noodle' no more!!

I am sorry to hear this news. I liked Jun Jun for more then just the wonton.

St. Lawrence Market - "World's Best Food Market" in National Geographic List -

Nobody or in this case nothing is perfect, but I for one am glad that I have a place like SLM to visit. I am not going to deny that the prices there are not always great (seldom great actually). I enjoy the market because I find things there that I don't find else where. Lamb and red wine sausages, awesome selection of bread, cheese, butchers and fish mongers all in one place. I do not shop there often, maybe 4 or 6 times a year. I don't care what the rest of the world thinks, I am just glad that I have the opportunity to shop there.

The Persian Palace - Richmond Hill

Funny, I just clicked the link and was able to view the menu. The dinner menu is very hard to read though

Yang's Dim Sum - A Latest Update

Just for the record the durian puffs were delightful. Yes they were fragrant, but to a durian lover the fragrance is good sign. The outside shell although luridly coloured was flaky and crisp. The inside was creamy.
It was a great meal, I thought everything was great.

Other restaurants then Enoteca Sociale, Campagnolo & Tourist spots?

Have you tried Beast or Keriwa Cafe?

Best siu yuk / 烧肉 - Chinese Crispy Roast Pork?

My go to is Princess Roast meats inside Market Village in Markam. It is off the food court. I love the roast pork and the duck. It is on the salty side though, so I would not recommend this place for anyone sensitive to sodium content. Also this place is not cheap.

thai groceries

Yes I think that you should be able to find most things in these stores. I have seen galangal, kafir lime leaves, tamarind and assorted herbs in Viet grocery stores.
Having said that though I have never read David Thompson's cookbook so I am not sure what kinds of things you are looking for.

Looking for a birthday spot, mains (12-17$)- with a round table for 8-10

I recall there being round tables at Canyon Creek, but I could be wrong. You could call.

Soba Tuesdays

I think mountain yam was an option in the early days

Roasted Nori Seaweed in toronto?

Not all Costcos have seaweed. If you are north of the city I recommend Galleria on York Mills (west of Don Mills). I always buy the single serving packages, they are sold in packs of 9 or 12 or 16.

Doubles?

I love ARC. I guess it depends where the OP's husband is based. Drupatis is great too, but I live east of Toronto so Drupatis is off the beaten track for me.

Passion Fruit Puree

They have frozen puree at McEwan. It will cost you a bundle though.

Making your own Lao Gan Ma

Perhaps you could try toasting the peanuts/sichuan pepper. While I am sure that the MSG enhances the commercial product, I think toasting could bring out some of the flavours you maybe missing. Also many chinese style chili oil uses dried chilies.

Best All You Can Eat Japanese in Toronto GTA

Thanks Teep, I was wondering about that place. I on the other hand decided to try Osechi AYCE on Hwy 7 beside Baton Rouge. It was good. As with all AYCE there are hits and misses. Surprisingly the hits were gerneral tso's chicken, tom yum goon soup, the salmon sashimi was just as good as any other place. I enjoyed the ika(squid) and the flying fish roe sushi. The mango pudding was decent too, for a AYCE place. The hand rolls were just so so. I didn't get a chance to try any noodle or rice dishes.

Phew!!!!! FYI, 'Brilliant' is still AOK!!!!

Yes thank you Charles.
I ended up going tonight instead of Sunday. Didn't get to order everything you did as my mother decided the set dinner sounded good. Everything was good. I was especially fond of the crispy skin chicken and a stir fried beef dish that had sugar peas and was served in an edible nest.
@chutchut..I don't know if it makes you feel any better but the complimentary dessert was just ok. It was not the same one as Charles had.

Phew!!!!! FYI, 'Brilliant' is still AOK!!!!

Hello Charles
I am hoping to hit Brilliant on Sunday, the duck does not have to be ordered ahead does it?
The menu you posted above sounds very yummy ...might have to order everything you did lol

Wasabi mayo & mustard.

I would suggest that you buy wasabi powder in a tin. You can get this at asian grocery stores (PAT or H mart or T&T to name a few). I have also seen wasabi powder at Diana's Seafood. For the mayo mix the powder into the mayo to taste and for the mustard just mix the powder with water until it forms a paste.

Pho in the 905

I have not tried either of these places but driving by yesterday I noticed a Vic Hong at Major Mac and Bayview on the north west corner (in the plaza) and accross the street on the east side of Bayview there was another pho place. I don't remember the name, I refer to it as train place (there is one on the sign).

Grande is a cheese store that sells mostly Italian groceries (no produce). The one I go to is in Richmond Hill
9737 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 8S7, Canada
But there is one in Woodbridge and one on Orfus Rd.

You should try the small french rolls from Grande. They look an awful lot like that bun.

Good Shawarma in Markham

I just had lunch at a great shawarma place.

Pitalicious

7605 Woodbine Ave right beside Bristol truck rental I think it use to be a coffee show many years ago.

I had a falafel platter, the baba ganosh was great, so was the falafel and the hummus.

My co worker had shawarma and said it was good.

It may not compare to your favourite place but if you are confined to Markham I think it is the best in the area.
