Been to Copp and Neptune - worth a second visit?
Island Creek Oyster Bar instead of Neptune
For all you Neptune lovers.
I am too busy never setting foot in the place in favor of ICOB
No love for some gems
because SF is ridiculously expensive and there are better options (than those you frequented)
in Boston.
Buying lobster at the dock
I have a place in Maine so I spend a lot of time watching lobster fishing. StriperGuy is (as usual) absolutely correct, the timing is highly variable. Here the tides are 10 ft so the lobster guys will go out of their way to pull traps at low tide, even if it means going out at three in the morning. With their very loud diesel engines. With no mufflers. Which is *fine* with me in case anyone asks.
Island Creek Oyster Rec's
Oyster Sliders!
May be my single favorite food item right now. Just perfect.
What would you recommend between the Museum of Science and Fenway?
Hi AmyinRI. There is a lot of Boston in between the Science Museum and Fenway, you have a lot of options, I'd do searches on the specific cuisines you mention.
The Green Line runs from the Science Museum to Fenway, you could get off at the Boylston stop and you'll be one block from Chinatown.
Island Creek Oyster Bar vs. Neptune Oyster
OK, I've now had the opportunity to visit Island Creek Oyster Bar (ICOB) three times and have had three flawless experiences.
Been to Neptune eight or ten times.
ICOB oyster slider may be my single favorite thing to eat. Last visit on this past Friday, had a cod entree (for which I cannot find the menu description, sorry) that may have been the best seafood dish I have ever had. It had some sort of (very subtle) smoked meat in it.
I have not been shy on this board about my criticisms of Neptune Oyster ... but the food is superb there as well.
ICOB - large (love the space, very creative), noisy, takes reservations, awesome selection, very friendly, very knowledgeable staff, superb food, pricey
Neptune - small (cramped), no place to wait, no reservations, smaller selection, service is borderline rude - best case indifferent, superb food, pricey
Perhaps you see where I am going with this. Time to stop directing every potential Boston visitor to Neptune?
Thoughts?

Discriminating friend coming to town for the week from San Francisco - critique my itinerary?
If you really want to distinguish Boston from San Francisco I'd go to ICOH 8 times.
Italian Style Roast Beef Sandwich OR Roast Pork Sandwiches
Best sandwich I have ever had is the roast pork sub at Pace. You're going to have to eat it for lunch, Tuesday and Thursday only, and you are going to need a nap.
Traveling from NYC for Girls Trip this Wkend - Need Restaurant Suggestions
"Nothing with a college-crowd though"
you'll be in the wrong city :)
Seriously, CHers... Antico Forno?
they are an authentic combo of Italian and New England, they're not going to fawn over you walking in for the first time.
Some of the dishes are quite good (e.g. Linguine with clams - done in the oven, or pork chops) and it's a good value for downtown Boston. It's also quite busy and family friendly.
Not your cup of tea, got it. But you didn't get mugged, you just had misset expectations.
Best Italian sub in Boston Financial District ... EVER

So excited to try Island Creek Oyster Bar
I love that we have now have a real alternative to B&G and Neptune.
The staff and service at ICOB instantly distinguishes itself from Neptune - warm, knowledgeable, welcoming, unpretentious. I really enjoyed everything we had (many oysters, cherrystones, fried clams (salty and very tasty, I liked the salty), other apps).
Why not try it and give us the benefit of your comparison?
We went on a Tuesday night, it was packed, I'd get reservations.
HELP! Last minute trip to Boston and need quick recommendations for a family of 4!!!!
"our our least favorite would be a steak joint or Italian"
what does that even mean? Huge swaths of cuisine are covered by "Italian", what, specifically, are you trying to avoid?
Lunch in Faneuil Hall? just don't. Maybe Neptune Oyster (nearby, serious seafood, not really as Italian as they'd like you to believe)
Steamers? Summer Shack Back Bay (since you have no time to research you'll not see how controversial a rec that is here, it's actually a good rec)
As for non-Italian "big flavors" maybe Eastern Standard?
Have a great visit, let us know what you find.

26 hours, 4 restaurants - I'm still stuffed.
"Our waitress – very attractive (actually, everyone in the place, regardless of gender, is very attractive), though not in a trashy way like other bars, was very knowledgeable of the food items, attentive but not overly so, and very personable (the boys were smitten)"
This attribute of eating establishments not included often enough here ... thanks.
Remembrance of Pork Chops Past
grilled pork chops at Don Ricardo's. Sliced thin, marinated in something Brazilian or Peruvian, grilled, and absolutely delicious

Radius Burger/Lounge Review
re: Neptune, other than the novelty of fried oysters on a burger I just was not moved, nothing really remarkable about it at all.
Radius Burger/Lounge Review
I agree Buster. Radius is not that popular here and I suspect a lot of hounds never get past that with regard to actually trying the Radius burger. It is my favorite, and in particular far surpasses that at Craigie St. and Neptune, two much better restaurants over-all.
The bartenders at Radius are decent as well. One could do far worse than walking in off the street, taking a seat at the bar, having a martini followed by that burger. Just ignore all the expense account and special occasion diners in the dining room.
As for the horseradish sauce, it began a phase for me where I find every excuse to eat it with beef, they are such a natural combination.
Need help...,most romantic restaurant in the Boston area
I've got to imagine it's highly subjective. September/October - I'd pick a place where you could go for a romantic stroll before and/or afterwards. Ten Tables Harvard Sq. or Troquet.

damneddemand, what a nicely written summary of Kendall/Central/Inman, thanks
Ten Tables - worth the drive?
Depending on the weather and your ability/willingness to walk, an October evening in (greater) Boston can be a sensual delight. Google says Ten Tables is .6 miles from the Harvard red line station.
I think Ten Tables is special and would go out of my way to experience it.

Improper Best Burger - Radius
Just got a chance to read Improper Bostonian's "Best" edition. Not bad over-all, certainly better constructed than the ode to one's own advertisers at Boston Magazine.
Best Burger - Radius. And I agree. Say what you want about the restaurants over-all but I prefer the Radius burger to Craigie St and Neptune.
Other correct picks: Ban Mi - Mei Sum, Bakery - Flour, Steakhouse - Grill 23
Counter-Chow: Seafood - Legal
