Need an Italian restuarant for dinner in NYC 30-50's street west side for my 23 year old son and girlfriend

I am a big fan of Basso56 on West 56th betw Bway and 8th, a cozy, non-commercial restaurant with delicious food. My favorites on the menu are the baked smoked buffalo mozzarella wrapped in proscuitto and the grilled calamari. The owner Alex is very friendly. I highly recommend and the prix fixe lunch is a great deal.

Looking for a bite in Hell's Kitchen

Amazing 66 (Canton)
Joe's Ginger (Shanghai)

Dinner near 56th & 7th

I just wrote about Sichuan Gourmet on West 56th betw Broadway/8th!

Looking for a bite in Hell's Kitchen

There are two great restaurants on West 56th between Broadway/8th: Basso56 and Sichuan Gourmet. Both are the real deal, but since time is an issue, Sichuan would be more efficient. Everything I've tried has been great, and the waiters are always helpful with good advice. Just be sure to try the duck fried rice - the duck is lightly smoked! Closer would be Aaheli and there's another post about this new Indian restaurant.

Japanese for friend's birthday

Looking for an authentic and intimate restaurant for friend's birthday. She took me to Soto for my birthday, which we both enjoyed immensely. I am a big fan of Aburiya Kinnosuke and Yakitori Totto, and she has never been to either. Should I take her to one of those or try Donguri or Kai? I have never been to either. Thanks for your help and advice.

P.S. I am still mourning the loss of Sushi-jun in Midtown and wonder if that old master has resurfaced somewhere else.

Alternative to Amazing 66?

we've had several parties for family and/or friends at 27 division st, never disappointed.

Alternative to Amazing 66?

Try the restaurant at 27 Division St. It used to be called Sunrise 27 and changed its name. The service should be better, and there is a very accommodating manager named Alex.

Aaheli in Hell's Kitchen

Thanks, both. I am hooked on the baigan bharta!

Japanese cooking class

I noticed a Japanese cooking school had taken over the former space of Bridge Kitchenware on 711 3rd Ave . Haven't tried it, but it looks very interesting.

Aaheli in Hell's Kitchen

Has anyone tried Aaheli on 9th Ave betw 54/55th?

Argentine Food in Jackson Heights

You might want to try the Tea Box inside Takashimaya on Fifth Ave off of 54th St.

East Village: good for groups

I would love to try Momofuku and thought they didn't take reservations.

East Village: good for groups

I need to make a reservation for a group of six at a crowdpleasing restaurant, walking distance from Broadway and Tenth St. Jules used to be one of my favorites, but the service is an issue. Thanks for your suggestions.
