Red Seedless Grapes
Where an I find red seedless grapes, or any grapes that are still on the vines, not dropping into plastic bags , without going to a green market?
Just had a terrible experience at Birdsall House in Peekskill -- wondering if others have had better experiences?
We just had excellent food and fine service tonight so they must have improved. We will return. The Hamburger was exactly as ordered and generous and real not frozen fries were excellent and included. The beet and goat cheese salad was creative and my husband had bratwurst with homemade potato salad. the chef is from the C.I.A. and all is plated appetizingly. The only downside was the noise on a Saturday night at 8PM. We were told that it is quiet before 7:15. This is a welcome addition to the limitd choices in the Peekskill area.

Turcos Market in Yorktown is a family run large market with great meat, seafood and vegetables.

Best Seafood Restaurant(s) in Westchester
Ocean House Oyster Bar in Croton. Very tiny and no reservations but great fresh seafood. On Rt. 9. BYOB and a wait so not great for a celebration. Friendly attentive service.

Dinosaur or Blue Smoke this Sunday?
We ate at Dinosaur last night and i don't agreee with the complaints. Best wings ever, great ribs and pulled pork and brisket. The only disappointment was the beef ribs which were cut across the bone like flanken and was dry. The service was attentive and the draught beer excellent. A swell place to take the kids.
Thanksgiving in Key West
Check Louie's Backyard to see if they have a holiday dinner. It would be my first choice even without the turkey. Go in time for sunset. Alice is good too but in a storefront and not as special an ambiance.

I second all you say about Key West except for Turtle Kraals - never had a good meal there but like Half Shell Raw bar owned by the same people. I agree that the very best is Cafe Marquesa and Louies. We were very disappointed with Pisces which has been super hyped on this blog and seems to be a middle America version of Haute,. Sorry to be so snobby but I am an Upper West Sider. I am on Sugarloaf in the winter. Where are you?
Good Italian on the UWS San Luigi
Had a lovely dinner at this relatively new Italian San Luigi, Amsterdan and 75th St. Well prepaared good old fashioned, unpretentious Italian American menu and they take reservations. Great Gelato display. The pastas were al dente. The Wednesday zuppa di mare fresh and good. All the old time standbys - daily fish prepared anyway you wish. I had shrimp fra diavolo. Pleasant and attentive service. A great additon to the neighborhood.

Right across the street from H&H is Zabar's cafe, , You can sit and eat and I think it's only one dollar with cream cheese.

Expensive and elegant. Asiate in the Time Warner building - great views of the city on the 30th floor.
REALLY romantic/special dinner in Key west
Loui's is the most romantic and the food never disappoints, I've been there every year. No one has mentioned Marquesa. It is in an inn and indoors but the food is great in a small lovely rromn room. Go on a day when you don't want to be outside. Pisces tries to be special but I find ithe food expected and quite ordinary.

Resort is upscale but the chefs keep changing. The last time I ate there several years ago, I was disapppointed.

Where is Fireahouse Grill. I thought I knew all the places in Peelskill?
Stadium - just outside of Peekskill going north. All kinds of sports memorabilia and good pub food, wings, burgers, ribs and a regular menu too. Tablecloths, space, nice ambience.

Where is this Julianna's? I am in Lake Mohegan. I recommend an old fashioned 'red sause Italian' in Peekskill. Capri on Washington St. A great double cut grilled veal chop for &18.95. Also Luigi's seafood platter - calamari, mussels, clams etc in Marinara sauce.
Lincoln Center Area Restaurant?
Fiorello's - good and quick beforethe theater. You can choose your own assortment from the antipasto buffet. Somewaht noisy and hectic.
O'Neals always reliable for plain good American food.
Don't forget Compass. It has had a checkered past, up and down. Currently it is excellent, has a pre theater pix fixe dinner - plenty of room between tables so you can talk and an innovative chef at the moment. (70th St west of Bway).

Since the demise of Dumas and other French bakeries in Manhattan, I am still seeking a great one other than Payard Patisserie which is priced for state occasions.
LOBSTERS - where in nyc?
Best Lobster deal is at Dock's on the Upper West Side ( Sunday and Monday nights (90th and Broadway) The lpoobster is always sweet. They have a clambake dinner including 2 (1 lb lobsters) , clams, steamed potatoes, cole slaw, corn, salad and ice cream or Key Lime Pie. I don't remember the exact price but it is approoximately $ 33 before tip. Reservations are a must.
