Anything like Animal or Momofuku in SF?
Hey cool kids, I'm in your neighborhood for a week and I was wondering if there was any place you would consider similar to Animal in LA or the Momofukus in NYC. I don't mean in terms of genre of food as they are clearly very different, but I mean in the sort of gorilla vibe they have. Obviously the food is the key but these two places really tap into the specific youth culture of the two cities and I would love to experience something like this in your beautiful city. Let me know your picks, I'll probably go to all of them.
Public vs Raoul's
So two days from now I'm taking my GF out to dinner to celebrate life and I have narrowed it down to two spots: Public and Raoul's, both are rad, both are in great locations, both are fun. I need your help to make this decision....its a tough one but it can be made. Thank you in advance
Valentine's Day 2010 FML! Help!
So I hate valentines day in NYC...be honest we all hate Valentines day in NYC. Prix Fixed meals that are terrible and absurdly expensive (when food is great $ isnt an issue for me). I would avoid it at all cost but I love my girlfriend and lets be honest she would be upset if I didnt take her out. Last year we went to Dovetail and it was awfullllllllllllll...So I am asking if anyone knows a great place or has an alternative idea. I would rather not have a prix fixed meal but if I have to I would love it to be really amazing and not absurd. Anything is fair game even a weird adventure to gasp coney island. I love La Sirene, Nougatine, Tabla, Momofuku Ssam (who doesn't),...But I dont know about their V-day situation...lets get the thread going early for all the males who would actually like to have fun on Valentines day.
Alternative to Locande Verde
I just called and found out Locanda Verde is booked solid for Friday and I need a really good alternative to fill its place. Looking for something as similar as possbile in terms of ambiance, food, and price...what do you suggest? I'm making a reservation for 5 people.

Where can I get Soft Shell Crab in Manhattan right now? It's usually on the specials list at most restaurants, because of its seasonal nature. Does Momofuku have them right now? How about One Hundred Acres? Dell'anima? Chowhound spies help me out.
