Station House - Bronxville
I had been to Petes under the old management and was not impressed. My ds recently went with his friend and dad and loved it. He had chicken wings (hottest variety if I know my child) and something else (can't remember-chili maybe) and liked both. And my ds is pretty fussy foody for 11 yo. The dad told me they go there often for burgers, sandwiches and the like and under new mgmt is much improved.
Khangri, Yonkers AYCE Sushi surprisingly good
My ds loves sushi. He is 11. Anytime we take him for some he spends at least $25-30 (he would spend more if allowed) so when we saw an advertisement for AYCE sushi in downtown Yonkers for about $20 pp we decided to try it. They have an ala carte menu and an AYCE menu. The choice on the AYCE is more limited but fairly decent and we found the fish to be fresh which is important. If you are an adventurous eater it might not be for you but if you like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc you will be happy. In addition to sashimi, sushi, rolls and special rolls they also have a kitchen menu with the AYCE. DS loved the tuna tartare. I liked the gyoza and shumai as well as the tofu teriyaki. They also had some udon which we did not try plus fried calamari, grilled squid some other salads, soup and katsu dishes. DS liked the red snapper teriyaki, rainbow roll, 007 roll and dragon roll as well as spicy tuna roll. I don't each much raw stuff but liked the tartare also plus the yonkers roll and the spicy tuna. The alaska roll was also good. My SIL and MIL ordered some sushi pieces, mainly tuna, yellowtail, salmon. You have to eat what you order so we were careful. The people next to us went hog wild with the kitchen appetizers and the sushi but ate everything.
So for the traditionalists who like Nanase and Azuma this is probably not for you but if you want to just go eat some sushi and don't care if it is americanized I recommend it. It is only japanese food btw.

Casa Cubana in Fleetwood is open
We saw it was open yesterday and just missed out on the last table about 6:30pm. So we were hungry and went to the diner as dh could not wait. i would have preferred to. My dh loves ropa vieja. So we can't wait to try it. Maybe another day.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
$.69 for a head of Romaine lettuce which was $2.99 in Stop and Shop yesterday. It was too crowded to browse further last weekend but i go through a lot of Romaine for our GP (pet) so was very happy. Also they had green tea ice cream in the freezer which thrilled my 10 yo.
First Impressions of Growlers Bistro in Tuckahoe
Plenty of kids go to Haiku. Just early. The scene totally changes from 7pm to after 8pm. I have been there with my ds about 7:45 coming home from a late appt. and we were starving. It definitely became a couples scene after 8pm. We have also been there at 5 or 6 pm on the weekends and it was filled with kids. Now mine is 10-1/2 so is now well behaved which opens things up for us.
We haven't been to Growlers because my dh is on medication with strict instructions not to drink alcohol. When my dad comes up from FL we will probably go but early.
Unfortunately with the economy how it is. Some people chose to go out and take the kids rather than pay $12-15 an hour for a babysitter. I was and am lucky to have grandma on the weekends although now I have to fight off my BIL/SIL for her services as they have 2 kids under 4 yo.

Best Mexican Food in Westchester?
I kind of like Mr. Taco in New Rochelle. It is right off North Ave, near Iona across from CVS. The carnitas tacos very good and very inexpensive. the pork was delicious and not that fatty. My ds liked the enchiladas. We did not try anything else,. It is pretty much a dive. My ds former babysitter's mom owns it but I would not recommend if we had not liked the food. They had some fairly adventurous stuff (tripe or maybe it was tongue?) on the menu but I am not that foody. Also they sell beer and mexican coke.
Best Chili? Westchester/Hudson Valley
My ds makes a great super spicy chili in our crockpot. Not the answer you were looking for however.
Aberdeen, White Plains
I have always liked Imperial Wok and parking is much easier there too.
Fleetwood Diner Coming Soon! Here we go again.
Ds and I had lunch there Sunday. I had turkey triple decker with fries which was good but not the best I have had, certainly not the worst either. I would probably have it again. DS had linguine with garlic and oil. Very garlicky but he loved it. he also had vegetable soup (soup or salad came with). People at next table had what looked like pretty good burgers and omelettes. I did get refill on my water and coffee. I think if they work the kinks out it will be a good place to go. Next week I will try an omelette which is my other diner go to.
I was disappointed they did not change the carpet but at least it looked like they had tried to clean it and the floor was a lot cleaner.
Help -- moved to Scarsdale
Totally agree with Ginos Pizza. And they also make it with whole wheat crust.
Shoprite in Scarsdale
I was there this week and it seems that no one is ordering it as most stuff looked dried out. they need to cover it in plastic wrap.

I totally agree about the carpet. I also heard from my boss whose son lives in Fleetwood that we are getting a take out mexican where the butcher was. Fingers crossed.
Recommendations for Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Buffalo (Lunch)?
I really enjoyed my last visit to Chefs famous for spaghetti parmesean.
Spice Markets in Westchester/Tri State Area
If you are in Grand Central a new spice and tea place opened where Penzeys was. They seem to be fresh and in fact looks like they are selling in bulk.

Well they took the menu down and it does not seem any work has been done. Now I worry it will stay closed.
Deja Vu-Coffee Bar open in Fleetwood
Actually I got the name wrong it is Deja Brew. And yes I think he is adding soup and sandwiches this week.
Deja Vu-Coffee Bar open in Fleetwood
Just to be upfront one of my son's friends dad has just opened this new coffee place in Fleetwood. I noticed it was open on Saturday and stopped by. The expresso I had was very good. I did not try anything else but he is carrying some nice looking scones and other pastries as well as the coffee drinks, tea and hot chocolate. It is on Broad Street near Joes.

Can't get a spinach/feta omelet or turkey club at Maggies, can you? Or a hot open face turkey sandwich (dh favorite). There are a lot of people in Fleetwood not eating at Maggies that will try this place.

I have been to Pelham Cafe and definite improvement over Windmill. Looked at proposed menu and mainly eggs, sandwiches, salads, burger and some limited entrees. They are not trying to be anything more than that. Prices seemed reasonable.

Thanks. I have heard of it. we will see what happens. Right now i have a babysitting issue (my dh works 4-12 and we have a 10 yo) so may not get there this month.
Bridal shower brunch in lower westchester
Caffe Regatta would be too small for that many people. I like the Tap House idea. My mom also likes Posto 22 in New Rochelle, but I have never been there so don't know if they have a big enough room.

Louie and Johnnie's Cheese Steaks and Clam Bar- Eastchester
I looked at their menu which our local deli had. Thought it was pricey and menu limited. We have not been despite my excitement at the name which had me thinking my dh, ds and I could all be happy there.
