John Hancock building for a drink with a view.

Cite which sits atop Lake Point Tower and has 360-degree views, was one of eight restaurants around the world, and only two in the U.S., to be named by Conde Nast Traveller to a list of the restaurants with the best city views.

ps the ladies rooms in the Hancock have great views, I have only been in the mens room which does not.

Chicago transit to the Publican

You don't have to walk over the tracks, it is on the same side

Chicago transit to the Publican

The first Loop stop on the Orange line will be Harold Washington Library. Transfer to the Pink line there and take it to the new Morgen stop.

Hot Doug's and Franks 'n' Dogs

Or, take the Blue Line to Belmont for a much shorter bus ride.Like others have said, the duck fries are not any better than their regular fries, but it is a brilliant marketing tool.

Good Delivery options...River North?

India House delivers, so does Star of Siam.

Pre-NATO Weekend Help for Cdn. Visitors

The L will be running, but it may be a bit more crowded with bus routes being altered. Also be aware, over 2000 journalists will be in town, more than likely arriving at the same time as you will, and probably staying in your part of town. I'm sure getting a walk-in table on Friday or Saturday is going to be a bit tougher than usual.

What night is your Mercat reservation? That is going to be one of the areas I'd avoid as well as Chinatown. The Logan Square/Wicker Park/Andersonville suggestions are all very good places.

I truly look forward to hearing about your trip!

ps Try an Italian Beef sandwich, it is a local thing!

How's My 5 Day Eating Agenda Looking? Help Make My Trip Awesome!

I'd pass on Kuma's, I don't think the burgers are that great and the wait is to long.

Two nights in Chicago

Piccolo Sogno is also a quick trip on the Blue Line, however, it may be too late to get reservations.

Best value for a butcher near downtown? looking for pork shoulder/boston butts

Montreal foodie visiting for Easter - breakfast/lunch/wine shop/EL Ideas recommendations needed

He no longer has the truck.

First Time in Chicago - Just one day

I'm a second generation Chicagoan, pushing 50 this year, and I have never heard of this 'Germania on the Pier' event.

Looks like it is being catered by one place, Austrian Bakery and is more of a music event than food focused. May I ask why you are going? Do you have a back up plan if it is raining that day?

Montreal foodie visiting for Easter - breakfast/lunch/wine shop/EL Ideas recommendations needed

El Ideas is off of one of the diagonal streets (Ogden) that slice through the Chicago grid. Western is 2400 west, I live near 1500 west Ogden. Every so often, I get off of the L at Clinton to hit Jewel (grocery store). If I'm lazy, I take a cab home. It is about $6.50 US. I give the driver a ten, because I think driving a cab is a rough job. So, my cab ride is about a third of the way that you would be taking. Getting a cab to is easy, getting a cab fro may be tough unless the restaurant calls one for you. I'd go with the town car, you are going to have an excellent meal, let somebody deal with getting there and back.

I agree that the Binny's (213 West Grand) is probably your best bet for wine and Fox & Obel, although their baker got fired a couple months ago.

For Vera, take either the Green or Pink line to Ashland, it's a short walk.

3 Days in Chicago - Would love some recos!

Since you will have a car, Nightwood.

Lou Malnati's: what kind of place?

LOL! Hope you did not get wet! Walk off the pizza on the 7th floor of Macy's, not your average food court. Some heavy hitters (Bayless, Takashi, Samuelsson).

Three days in Chicago - lunches near the Palmer house

The original Heaven on Seven on the 7th floor of the Garland Building, about two blocks away on Wabash. Cajun food in a rather unique spot. Gets crowded for lunch, but sit at the counter. CASH ONLY!

Easter Sunday in Chicago? Random Deliciousness (Crisp/Big Star/Urban Belly/XocoSeoul Sassy)....Please help this NYC 'houndress out...

How long will you be in town and where will you be staying?

Need feedback re: 1 week in Chicago

That location gets very crowded and it takes a long time to get your sandwich. Call your order in for pick up!

Memorial Day Weekend - need help!

Technically it is on street level. And you catch the Milwaukee Amtrak at Union Station, not Olgive. That said, the French Market does have RAW that has 100% organic raw vegan food.

Also, when you get to Milwaukee, their Public Market is a short walk from the train station.

1st time in Chicago

Seriously, take advantage of the concierge. I'm a Chicagoan enjoying a staycation at the Hotel Intercontinental this weekend. Tried Open Table, tried calling to get a reservation, then went to the concierge and she got us a table.

Fat Johnnies cracks me up. Back in the '70's when I was in HS, it was three blocks away and I ate there weekly. It really is a shack and I am not sure besides the out-of-the-way and shack look that it has become this big thing. I don't think you should waste your time traveling 20 blocks west and 77 blocks south.

If you are not that interested in molecular gastronomy, skip Moto.

Best restaurants in Chicago to give an engagement ring

Weekend trip.

I love how your Sunday links came out! LOL

Mariano's

Yeah, I didn't think they carried everything I wanted/needed, but the stuff they did have was pretty impressive. Have not been to any of the other stores, but one will be opening closer to me, in the west loop.

The cheddar/jalapeno sausages were really good on the grill last night.

Mariano's

Thanks for the heads up! We went Saturday morning. Drove from the West Loop, only 4 minutes more (on Saturday at 8 am) than the Dominick's on Halsted and Madison.

We drove, it's a bit tricky. From Randolph you need to cross Columbus and then take a left (North) at the next intersection. That lets you into a 'one way in-one way out' section that you have to drive around to get to the store and parking.

Parking is free for the first 75 minutes, just get your ticket validated.

Just a bit odd from your 'street level' comment. From the garage we were on 2, had the choice in the elevator to go to 3 or 4. We went 3 which was ok, but I needed 4, (fruits, vegs, meats and deli) and had to backtrack down to 3.

Nice store, every employee said hello/good morning. We will go back.

Good eats near Wabash and Madison/east loop

The original Giordano's was at 6253 S. California. :-)

Help!!! Need a Restaurant Recommendation near the Congress Theater (Milwaukee and Armitage)

Las Asada's, I've also walked from Honey 1's many times (last time when I saw DEVO)

Chicago Dim Sum

The latest around 1:30. I do know, that when we go early on Saturday, we get there before the carts start. They have a picture menu and you check what you want. We typically check 4-5 favs and while we are eating the carts start arriving.

I'm sure, if they offer dim sum until 3 pm, you can request a picture menu and order that way and get food fresh from the kitchen.

Good Food near United Center

I live near the UC. Next to 160 Blue, on Odgen and Lake is La Luce, decent Italian. On Monroe there is Carmichael's Steakhouse. They offer a shuttle as well. Macello on Lake Street. Beer Bistro on Madison near the WestEnd already mentioned. Union Park on Racine.

Chicago Dim Sum

I have been to Phoenix over my lunch break from work, and it was the same as when I go on Saturday mornings (Sunday is too crowded for me!). Since you are driving, there is a huge Chinatown parking lot. Most places validate. Just 2 dollars to park.
