Hi, does anyone have a recipe for raspberry lime rickey fudge they would be nice enough to share? I've looked everywhere and can't find one. Someone suggested using the ingredient list for store bought as a start but I don't have proportions or steps to follow that way. Because it is so different than a chocolate fudge you can't really just do substitutions like some other flavors. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. |

I like Gabriella's on the Post Rd in Orange, large menu, the Zuppa de Clams is very good, as is the gnocchi and panne cotte appetizer |

Swartz Catering in Somerville is supposed to be excellent. |

Sorry I can't be of much help in Bridgeport. As for Louis Lunch. They do make a very good burger, and should be experienced if for no other reason than the experience. I am not so sure I would drive 30 minutes each way for it though. Seafood in New Haven, Lenny & Joe's just opened right off exit 46 on 95 so you could do that & hit Louis. |

Shake Shack might be your best bet, There is Bar for pizza, it is actually a bit closer to the theater (on Crown St) but wait time may be an issue there as well |

Pepe's has an outpost in Fairfield, off exit 27(?) on 95, Bar is an easy hit if you can park it is on Crown st New Haven, I like it almost as much as Pepe's. Modern seems to be incapable of not burning it's pies |

Restaurant.com gift certificates I have used them several times, never been any problems, while there are restrictions, they are not unreasonable. |

Where to find flanken in Connecticut? #1 Market on the corner of Ella T Grasso Blvd and Rt 1 in New Haven has them |

Upton Tea sells similar metal tea strainers with bamboo handles, comes in 3 sizes, very easy to clean. I also have the republic of tea and use both depending on which size cup I am using |

Very informal cocktail party in new haven Parking in New Haven is always a pain. Bar has a room in the back and very good pizza & salads but that is the entire menu. |
|
|
I recommend Upton Tea www.uptontea.com They have a great selection. I too have a hard time getting a decent tea when out, and get particularly annoyed that a "large tea" costs more than a "small" they do not give you more tea just more almost hot water in a slightly larger cup |

latin markets in Fairfield County, CT - looking for hibiscus flowers Don't quote me on this, but I seem to remember seeing them at Trader Joe's in the dried fruit and nut section |

Where to pick up lunch to go near New Haven I agree with jdgall, Liuzzi's (on State Street off of exit 10) has a wide enough selection of sandwiches and prepared foods and soups to satisfy |

I did get them at Hong Kong Market on Whitney they were delicious and beautiful. Thanks! |

Thanks...I'll start looking around I guess. |

Hi, does anyone know of an Asian market in the New Haven area that has particularly good moon cakes ( "walnut cake", "palace cake", "small cake", "moon pastry" "reunion cake")? I've never had them before and want to bring them to a family get together so any help with brand names or particular stores would be appreciated so I don't have to hit every market in the area. Thanks in advance. |

Vietnam Palace [split thread] [Stratford, Ct] Ate lunch there yesterday with my son and daughter in law. They just returned from an extended trip to SE Asia that included almost a month in Vietnam. The woman who owns the place and her son were bend over backwards nice and accommodating. We has spring rolls and summer rolls that were good. I had the pork bahn mi, which was excellent, son had a rice noodle, pork, veggie dish and DIL had the papaya salad with dried beef. All washed down with Vietnamese iced coffee. The food was great and according to them very authentic to what they had on their trip. |

New Haven County, looking for good seafood places that also serve non seafood dishes Not in New Haven County, but in Stratford you have Outrigger's semi water view as it is near the marina off of Ferry Boulevard. I recently had some good fried oysters and steamed mussels and the do have steaks etc. |

New Haven area - Good NH pizza at weekday lunchtime? Bar on Crown St |

Recently had a very nice lunch at Mickey"s on the corner of Whitney and Dixwell. Seared scallops with white beans, a lamb burger very leisurely . Cumin has a nice buffet, I have not been to Luce in a very long time but was always good when I did go |

Indian lunch buffets around Orange, New Haven, CT or even Shelton Sorry but I cannot speak about the buffets. The only one I have been to lately is Cumin in Hamden. Which was pretty good. As to the food in general Star of India is disappointing. Coromandel is very good, beaten only by Thali. Others worth mention are Zaroka on York in new Haven. It was for a while my go to place but has slipped a bit of late. Korma on Howe should be avoided |

Bar B-Q Milford, CT - It IS Reopened! There is a great spot on the Post Rd in West Haven less than a mile from Kebab House called Cedar, In a dingy strip mall, but the place is spotless, great lamb schwama, kefta kabob, chicken, felafels and a really nice salad with fried pita on top. |

great fried clams w/ bellies and onion rings in ct I just tried the Clam Castle in Madison, After years of Lenny & Joe's the Castle is much better~! |
|

Have to agree with Cheereeo on Bella's and Lena's they are on Whalley Ave about a mile from exit 59. |

We stopped in there last Saturday night after the concert on the Green. I had the bratwurst on a pretzel roll, it OK, too much roll for the wurst. The fries were ordinary nothing like what I remember at the old location. SO had a veggie burger, which she kiled quite a bit but also said the fries were like you get at any diner |

Wine & Spirits @ CT Costco's anytime soon? The Costco in Milford has had a liquor store for quite a while. Some of the prices are good, more so on wines. There is Kirkland brand liquor as well, I have only tried the bourbon which was OK, had a bit more burn than say Maker's Mark. |

There are a few vendors with sheep's milk products at the New Haven Farmer's markets. There is one in Wooster Square every Saturday and one in Edgewood Park (corner of West Rock & Whalley) 10-2:00 on Sunday. There was sheep milk cheddar and other soft cheeses. Go to Cityseed.org for more details. Also Liuzzi Cheese on State St North Haven may be an option. I do not know the Waterbury area so that is as close as I can get you. Good luck. |

Why do no national burger chains have veggie burgers? Burger King does have Morningstar Farms veggie burgers here in CT, but if you really want to see a confused server, order a Whopper, hold the beef |
