brunch at la strada, dead fish, or other east bay location?
We love Cafe Soleil. This is for a 'big' birthday, though, so I was thinking of somewhere a little more festive feeling, though :)
brunch at la strada, dead fish, or other east bay location?
We're taking my mother-in-law to brunch on a Sunday in November and are trying to figure out where to go. Most of the places I know for brunch are tiny, or very crowded without reservations (We'll be a noisy group of about 10 or so adults and 3 babies, so some place tiny or quiet wouldn't work.)
We're in El Sobrante, and folks will be coming from Crockett, Orinda, and Sacramento-- so something in W Contra Costa County is ideal-- although driving into Berkeley, etc. isn't out of the question.
I haven't been to brunch at the Dead Fish in Crockett-- any recent experiences? I've also seen advertisements for brunch at La Strada in San Pablo, but haven't found any reviews of their brunches. And I'm totally open to other suggestions.
Thanks!
La Note for dinner? (or elsewhere?)
Oops, I just realized La Note's not even open for dinner on Tuesdays. Scratch that plan. Hmm....
La Note for dinner? (or elsewhere?)
We really like La Note for brunch, but have never had any of their non-breakfasty fare. Is it as good? (Or at least, good?)
Some out-of-town friends are staying in Berkeley next week and we're to take them out to dinner on Tuesday and looking for a good place to go-- they'll be car-less, so some of the North Berkeley/Albany haunts might be less accessible.
Restaurant recs before theater in SF?
I know next to nothing about restaurants in the city and will be in SF for two shows in coming weeks, so I'm looking for advice/help of places to go.
We're going to see Avenue Q at the Orpheum (Market and 8th) with some friends. For this one, we're pretty open in terms of cuisine. The only caveat is I tend to eat pretty light/healthy (but not in an obsessive way).
The other is for Sweeney Todd at the ACT at 415 Geary Street. This one we're going to with my parents who will be visiting from the midwest (and bringing their very unadventurous midwestern appetites with them).
For both we don't want fast food, and would like a nice place to eat (but don't necessarily want top, top of the (price) line either.
But, really, any recommendations or pointers for anything that's in the vicinities will be greatly appreciated. I've only lived here a short while thus far, and have spent most of my time out here in the East Bay. Thanks!
