Shopping Mall Food Court Favourites

I love Green Curry in Simcoe Place- the food is fresh, the portions are massive, and the lineups are long.

I also like Thai Island in TD Centre, and they believe in spice, which is always rare in food courts, but I find their stuff runs a little more on the greasy side, especially compared to Green Curry.

There another Italian place in Metro Hall food court that I like too- yummy veal sandwiches and good meatballs. It's not Piazza Manna, it's some independent joint. But it's good and they have good deals on pizza too.

Best Dim Sum in downtown Toronto

Okay, as someone who could really use the advice, I'd really like to hear what restos you LIKE as opposed to just everything you hate about what the one person who was nice enough to put what they liked up.

I like Crown Princess, but I have no idea if it's the best or not, and I'd like to try some other places. I don't care what they're doing in Hong Kong, cause I'm not eating there. Can we please get some actual recommendations?

Loblaws I hardly know you....

I only mess with the one Canadian Superstore on Progress in Scarborough. Note- I do live close enough to walk to the Queen's Quay Loblaws (passing the Sobey's on the way- not bad, but pretty limited), but frankly, you only have to sell me meat that goes bad within 24 hours IN THE FRIDGE twice to keep me from shopping there. The last straw was when I bought a pack of cnicken, opened it once I got home- and it had obviously gone bad. The smell was unmistakable.

No more- I'll stick with Scarborough or St. Lawrence, thank you very much.

Can we please start a petition for Danny Wegmans to bring Wegmans up here? that is the one thing I swear I miss about Western New York.

An Informal Survey: If you could only have one...

Pepperoni, but the good kind, like they serve @ Bocce's in Buffalo.

Help! Ultra?

Ultra is definitely not what we're after then. Looking for a place with pizzazz (media types love the pretty), but with good food and ambiance.

Help! Ultra?

I have a short notice dinner to plan for 20 people on Saturday- any ideas on a good resto? They're coming from out of town and are willing to spend- not George expensive, but not Hot House cheap either. We tried to get Luma, if that's any indication of price point, but they were having a bachelorette party @ the time I need.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Restaurants I love, you hate

Baton Rouge- love the seafood pasta
Hot House Cafe- love the brunch
Fredericks- I don't care what anybody says, there is no hakka downtown that compares.
Dangerous Dan's- it's a dive, but i love the burgers
Chipotle- they're very accommodating and the food, although not "authentic" is really yummy.
Burrito Banditos- People complain about the service, but I find them to be really patient with some of the jackasses that roll through. And frankly, the place is too tiny to be all indecisive and holding up progress. Figure out what you want, THEN get in line.
Coldstone Creamery- it's sweet and delicious. I don't care if it's non-organic and locally sourced and whether or not they have "fig and avocado" as flavors, it's just a nice treat.

Count me as someone who loves Hot House as well. And I like spicy food, but sometimes I just want a nice plate of pasta or a good brunch within walking distance from my house at a reasonable price.

Best Caribbean in Toronto?

Jerk King at Morningside and Kingston, in the No Frills plaza. Their jerk pork would make me push your mama down a flight of stairs! They have decent stew beef and their jerk chicken is really good too, but the pork is IT. They do really good patties too, homemade.

Cold Stone Creamery coming to Ontario

I love CSC- give me the cheesecake or cake batter icecream with strawberries and I'm a happy woman. Yes, there are all the mom n pop places with their pretentious-sounding flavors that are always one-ingredient-too-many (for me, that happens to be whatever nut they decide to throw in, but I digress), but for those of us who sometimes just wanna enjoy a sweet treat with no pretensions of greatness, this is a good place.
